Show notes

Can we handle back to school with 3D printing projects? We test if we are still cool enough to keep up with the kids.

Join Eric, Mike, and Sean for another round of our nostalgia podcast as we navigate the strange transition into middle age. While sipping drinks, we attempt to bridge the gap between our fading youth and modern tech, specifically looking at how 3D printing fits into the school year. It is a messy, honest look at trying to remain relevant when the world seems to be moving faster than we are.

We break down the hilarity of attempting new hobbies while questioning our own coolness. This episode is perfect for anyone who feels slightly out of touch but wants to laugh about the absurdity of aging. Whether you are a parent or just someone dealing with the passage of time, we hope our chaotic experiment gives you a reason to smile.

Subscribe for weekly updates on our journey to stay relevant, and tell us: what is one modern trend that makes you feel ancient?

Welcome to We're Still Cool, Right? The weekly podcast where the conversation flows smoother than top-shelf whiskey. And cool, well, it never really left. Grab a drink and hang out with Erik, Mike, and Shaun while they dive into nostalgia and attempt to answer the age-old question. We're still cool, right?
00:00:30
Work is the source of nearly all misery in the world Fun fact some poor bastard went back to work today, but But it's great to have insurance Motherfucker I had that the whole time It's a special situation. I needed the insurance. Was today your first day at work? Yeah, we're gonna get into it Okay, yeah, I'm excited to hear about it. I know yeah, I've been yeah been living off the government for I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Severance, bitches, Severance. It was the best way to not work ever, let me tell you that. We'll get into it. But hey, welcome back! We are for another one. These crystal clear mics that...
00:01:16
Oh, they sound different. Do they? Maybe we just like plugged the headphones all the way in. Shaun did that with his boat once. Didn't push something all the way in once. That was a fun day. What does that mean? What? Was that before we were here? When that happened? It was when Erik was with me. Erik and his mom. No, but I'm saying when we talked about it. We talked about it on a podcast. Yeah. Basically, long story short, there's a safety thing that has to be pushed all the way in. Yeah. It wasn't. He didn't realize it. So they go by a gent. They think the battery's dead. They get a generator.
00:01:48
And it was just like, oh. It's a clip. And then it was like, oh. It's a clip for if you fall out of the boat. It shuts the motor off. Yeah. Like a treadmill. It was on there. just wasn't all the way in. So I just like looked at it and then I was like, yeah, then when nothing worked, I was like, and it makes like a click and I'm like, fuck. And then, boom!
00:02:09
That's funny. That's one of those idiot mistakes you only make once. Exactly. Yeah, like you'll never do that again. Yeah, I check it out. Every time you get in, it clicks. I don't know. Okay, we're good. Let's go. But I got a rough voice again today, boys, because I got banged up again this weekend out of the Ozarks. It was my family down there. And as you've all heard, we're loud. And we like to talk over each other. I have to say quick, Shaun says he's loud, but you don't know Shaun loud, so you have him around his family. Because, you know, I got something to say, damn it, I want people to hear me.
00:02:48
Didn't the neighbors tell you to turn down the music? No, oddly enough, we were doing such a good job of having fun during the day. We were sleeping like 10 30 every night it was kind of great like woke up i'm like i feel wonderful yeah like yeah me too it's great so um so yeah it was it was a lot of fun but paying for it with the voice a little bit today which like a true professional i had to promote or had to present today first thing in the morning for work you know that always goes over pretty nailed it as usual crushed it but you know with the busted up voice i'm like god grow up sean maybe we should just You don't have to always be hurt.
00:03:26
You don't have to talk so loud, but I just can't stop it. Yeah. We love it. But it was a blast, yes. Yeah. Well, you know what might make your throat feel better? This wonderful cocktail. Yeah. I say wonderful because Erik says it's wonderful. I don't believe him at all, but I'll let him explain. Yes. All right. So the drink of the week brought to you by Benz Beverage Depot. 501 7th Ave. Big what? It's currently a white building. Currently a white building. We're not sure if it's just being primed or if they're changing the look, but it threw us for a fucking loop I just got a text right before we started from a friend who's like Benz isn't green right now So yeah, there's still like plastic on the signs and stuff. So I think they're just yeah Still in the process of it'd be weird to see that building not green So Matt I know you're listening So maybe you give us a heads up before we promote a little bit of like yeah green building, you know Like let us give us the inside track. We've got start running all decor decisions past us please i'll be on the inside okay let's throw eric under the bus because he was there 30 minutes right didn't ask matt what the color i totally forgot yeah worked out that's pretty good but it is 501 7th it's in the same spot yeah still a beautiful place the drink of the week yes is called the last word so this is a classic cocktail made around 1910 um it is is gin, dry gin, green chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, lime juice,
00:04:59
and you garnish with a cherry. And I threw a little cherry juice in there to schmooze it up. Makes it a little bit better. But if you're curious what chartreuse is, last week we drank it, and I've never gagged harder in my life. It was worse than Malort. It was worse than Fernet. So I'm not very excited about this. but Erik said he's going to make it how it's supposed to be made. We're going to try it. It's meant to be in a cocktail, generally speaking. Not by itself. And when we say green chartreuse, we did Fakia Bruto Centerbee, which is an American alternative because green chartreuse is made by monks and it's hard to get.
00:05:32
Yeah, sure. Yeah. So challenge went out to Erik and we're like, what the hell do you really drink that for? And he's like, oh, it goes in a really good drink. So we're going to find out. That being said. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers, everybody at home. it smells exactly like medicine you've smelled this before we'll see what the taste is it is a strong taste it is powerful but I will say that is way better than it by itself like I didn't even gag but you know it's there you can still taste it but it balances it out I will say I think that little even though it was just a little dash of cherry juice helped a ton the Luxardo liqueur plus a little bit of cherry juice, it's not bad.
00:06:16
So I read Logan's face because he drank it first. So I'm like, oh, great. Because he's like... No, no, no, no, no, no. It is strong. No, it's strong. You're right. It's strong, yeah. It smells worse than it tastes. Yes. 100%. It doesn't taste very good. It's not good. It doesn't taste like much, I feel like. Yeah. There's not a ton of flavor to it. I don't think. I actually don't mind it. I don't think it's too bad. Yeah. I like it, but it's... think the thing is if you had tried the liquor by itself you'd be like oh this is amazing yeah imperatively but yeah you're it's i will say also the dilution on this is a little bit off because i use the little tiny cube shaved ice stuff that we have here it melts yes it it dilutes it too fast which doesn't help but i'll tell you what i'm really liking it kind of coats your throat for someone who's got a little bit of a rough throat it's coming in real i really do so he needs I will say, you know, the way we had that green chartreuse shit last week, I didn't think it would taste.
00:07:16
I mean, this is about as good as it can taste. I really believe this is 10 steps up, though. Like if you. Yeah, it's it's brutal by itself. But it is a total 1920 cocktail for sure. Yeah. I mean, they're very like they didn't like sweet stuff. Yeah. You had to like had to. I like it a little bit. I think it's growing on me. I like it. It's not bad. It does both taste and smell the way I imagine the 20s taste and smell. If I could taste and smell a decade. Old library books and like the dingy someone's basement, you know? Like whoever's drinking this has no idea what the internet is, you know? That's a good way to say it, yeah.
00:07:53
It would blow their mind. Like they were still maybe a little bit in the mindset of liquor is medicine. That's true. For sure. That's 100% part of it. You went there and they're just like, did you try an ounce of whiskey? You're like, no, I'll do that. When your day sucked as bad as theirs did, you took this down happily. This was like a real cheer. You got out of the mine. You're like, well. I mean, you hadn't had a bath in a week. You know what I mean? So, yeah. Your wife's talking too much. She's got the crazies. Yeah. You know, you're going to give her some of this. Here, baby, take this and have a nap.
00:08:24
Yeah. Correct. That's what they did. I made it a double. And they put it in a fancy little glass instead of, you know, a whiskey glass. Right. Exactly. no it's i actually don't mind it i am i give you credit because i really thought i was gonna hate that and it's not that bad so yeah you looked at all the things and you're like well i like well especially when i saw you bust gin out too because you know i'm not a huge gin fan i was like mother like he said this was gonna be so much better and i was just adding more shit i don't like but no it's not bad but i did talk to uh our buddy clint who works for toplin goliath uh who's been on the podcast a couple times the other day about what we had and he loves it yeah some people just love that but that's right in his flavor profile because he likes for net he likes for that and you know that that kind of stuff super herbally but very potent it's up your alley we should do like a uh theme at some point do a month of like really old old school drinks yeah like 20s yeah yeah the rob roy i only think about that from that one movie the what movie is that oh god we should um i think what we should probably do with that is is maybe put something out and let people vote like like which ones we're gonna do because there's so many options right sure and there's also cocktails it's hard to know the true origins yeah yeah so if you know of any real old school cocktails that we should try just send us send us a name we'll look it up or if you can send it to us what to do too that'd be great if you got the family recipe whiskey by itself
00:09:56
they don't get older than that baby we have tequila does it taste like beer yeah it's not bad we gotta get the whiskey that like makes the bar smoke or whatever that'd be fun we can have fun with it I found two movies that feature Rob Roy's prominently one is Angels Over Broadway 1940 that's old old and then blast from the past 1999 with fraser or brennan fraser and christopher oh i've never seen this christopher walken's making the drink that's what i remember he's like this is a rob and he like teaches him how to make a perfect one that's awesome and never released silver stones in it really yeah 1989 yeah that looked different she had huge boobs on 1999. oh i'm sitting here like dude clueless was way later she came back this was after clueless okay okay okay very different so anyway well you know her yeah yeah i love learning random facts yeah it was actually kind of one of those dorky good movies that i liked yeah that's fair um with that being said i was gonna say you want to get into it well i can i can jump into mine because i have because i have a gift for you guys i actually you know what one of these well that's awesome one of these that i have we're we're gonna save for the Patreon. Oh, okay.
00:11:17
So I have a gift for you guys and so the only thing I'm gonna say I am kind of I don't know leading the question here as to if something's cool or not by giving you something cool. Okay. Then it's still cool, I hope, if you're giving it to us.
00:11:36
Where the hell did you get these things? He fucking made them, didn't you? Let me see one. I made them with my 3D printer. And so my question is, is 3D printing still cool? Dude, they're so light. They are. I love it, though. So they're the little middle finger. So it's like the little guy. Yeah. They're red to our gold, apparently. Oh, God. I was going to do gold, but my gold is not shiny. So I liked the red better. No, they look awesome. But you 3D printed those. Yeah. Wow. How long did they take? Like one of them. Actually, what's funny about those, this is the weirdest thing that I've been learning about this whole process is how long things take and why.
00:12:19
Those, to make two of them only took like two hours, a little over two hours, two and a half hours. They've gotten way faster than because I remember when they first came out and people were making like things that size and I swear people were like, yeah, about eight hours, it'll be done. There's so many things still that take forever and it's all about how the fill process works and I can get super geeky. No, but I know what you're saying because like those are hollow, right? So they're not going across the whole. They have like a cross hatching in there. It's called infill. How much infill you do is how long it takes on things like that.
00:12:51
So this is something you have at home. You have a 3D printer at home. He just got it recently, didn't you? Yeah. This is what Erik does. He finds a rabbit hole. He goes all in. All right. So we need to add something to that board. No.
00:13:05
Something to work. It is fucking. But yeah. Okay. But what are you going to make next? I've made so many things. It's printing right now. I can't have it not printing because it's like this is wasted time It takes forever to print things But it's gotten faster I know it has from the original ones So this is so random that he brought this up because our friend Ben Nick's older brother sent me the other day It was like this big full size Deadpool head but this guy prints him to match your college football team So it's like it's his face but on the sides it's like iowa hawkeyes on both sides and he's like we need these so i like message again like how much are these and he's like a lot and i was like oh shit because they're it's huge well it's the time and the complexity and the right the materials the material actually depending on what you use isn't terribly expensive what are your options there's so many i didn't know what you mean like no i meant for material so the the most common one is called pla and that's just like the base everything those are pla those are silk pla which is why it's shiny that's why it's shiny that's it um but then there's there's probably 10 other different types of material yeah girl well it's it's crazy uh i actually saw one the other day it's like a deadpool mask and it it's in three pieces and you put magnets in so then it just like sticks together on your face like you can actually put it on your hand okay so that's what i was gonna say is like that led me down a just for that day because ben said i'm like i wonder how much like this stuff is dude and then
00:14:37
you get into people make like full size like body doubles of like characters they just prints in sections like you do the feet and then and it does the legs and you click them in and you can make like a full-size person if you want but they're like 3d printing like like surgeons are 3d printing shit for like so i saw there's 3d printed houses now with concrete like in a way like they just have these massive machines that seems everything that kind of jesus christ yeah so i mean this is fucking cool this is why we need data centers apparently wow but here's the problem eric so i'm gonna just think about shit yeah thank you that you can make that's what i was just gonna say i'm like you're fucked up man because now we're gonna be like hey dude can you make a cockasaurus that's how it's always gonna start hey dude hi god this great idea i know it's britain right now Because it's you but when it's done. Yeah, can you make me know you're like really busy and stuff?
00:15:32
But could you put me on the loose? There's this guy used to work with he does it and I haven't seen in a while but like he found just like Practical uses for things so like he started printing trying to think of some things things for cars were like when they break You have to like specially order a part or whatever. Yeah, he just found the schematics or whatever and printed it or like charger plugs that you plug in but there's a shelf so you can set your phone on it which they sell those sure he could 3d print them for cheap you can make it for himself most of the shit that you buy like if you buy it from a small time shop or amazon like i've bought stuff and i'm like this is totally 3d printed yeah so how big is the print like what how big are we talking um total size maybe like not quite as big as a chair like it so like maybe like less than half of the table that table over there it could sit on but it would be pretty tight okay so it about that if you cut this table in half sure that be more than enough room to put one gotcha it like i have an enclosed one they have open ones they have all kinds of different shit but so it doesn't get like dust and shit in it or i'm assuming yeah i just kind of went with it because it had the enclosure which i thought would be better quality but then it also had like um you you can put four different filaments in so it can change colors, mid print and stuff like that.
00:16:51
Okay. Well, my last couple of questions for this would be, what is the, what is your favorite thing you've printed? And what is like the craziest thing you have that you're going to end up making that you know of right now? Cause I know you, there's already something that you're like, I'm doing this. How many sex toys have you? Right. Yeah. It's like, can you put a motor in it? Is it charcoal? Like what's going on here? My fucking son, I got, I got like glow in the dark filament the other day. He goes, he goes, jack's gonna want to glow in the dark butt plug great oh like only a true brother can do um so most of what i've printed is like i don't know some nerdy stuff for playing magic with my son and then like other stuff is just like a little characters and stuff yeah no like counters like boxes for the cards like deck boxes and different stuff like that so um you go to the card store and they're like 25 30 bucks and i can print them for next to nothing i was gonna say less than five bucks that's cool yeah it's so cool like now i'm thinking about things like projects that i had where something broke and i could just print a part replacement dude that's the thing yeah like i have a shelf in my fridge and i can't find the like specific part of that one little shelf but it like cracked and i wanted i'm like i guarantee i could 3d print but i you have to find the exact specifications yeah because you like programming it and that's this this comes with a site and they these people like people upload so the way they do it is people
00:18:21
upload their schematics and they incentivize it because then those people get free credit to get filament and stuff oh that's so however many people download they get like credits within the store so that's genius they incentivize it that way and then it's free for me to download and use as long as i'm not selling it if i were to go sell something then i have to pay for a license yeah sure it's their intellectual property yeah that's awesome so what's the biggest thing you have planned though because i there is there something planned that you're excited to do but maybe it's like oh it's gonna take two weeks or yeah or what were you thinking when you bought this like i'm gonna do that question and then either you don't know how you're gonna pull that off yet you're like i need to make some stilts for mike so you can be all right no i mean the biggest thing was the stuff i've already been doing but then now my brain's kind of going to different things like more complicated useful things um one that i think is really neat and i heard about this from somebody else and i just haven't tried it yet is it's a koozie that has like a gyroscopic thing and it's got a float and it's it's like basically like you could put a can of beer in it and it'll float in the pool and that's because with the waves it moves so it doesn't spill. I know where we could test that. Yeah. Next year in the Ozarks. Test a couple different layers here like how big we want to go. That print won some sort of award for one of the most printed this summer.
00:19:46
Okay, well for the record, I want a Deadpool head really bad. And I will pay for it. So please just let me know. Then you can look through their catalog of stuff too. That's pretty fucking cool. It's definitely still... That was going to be my question. 3D printers obviously they were a fad. Are they still cool? yeah i don't think it's ever going to go away either i mean it's it's it goes with ai it goes with the way things are going and technology and all the things we buy all that shit on amazon honestly a lot of it just comes from china and overseas and stuff like that but it's like if you can just do it right at your home and it's that easy to get the the prints and stuff to just do it i think it's awesome and i will say just hearing what 3d printing was sounded cool but this is the first thing I've really seen that I know somebody, you know, that you did it.
00:20:32
And this turned out pretty fucking cool. So, yeah, I'm going to go 100% 3D printing is fucking still cool. By the way, I just realized if those print that fast, I say we just print like 100 of them. Instead of leaving stickers places, we just start leaving our fucking shiny, silky metal finger. Now we're take this marketing brain and run with it. Let's go. Maybe we can pay for this thing. Can we get a QR code on the front of the palm? i'm sure you could i like it i love it though i think it's awesome still cool yeah and it pisses me off because now i want one yes fucking dickhead i definitely cool i've obviously gotten into it and really enjoy it the one thing i thought about is like it's it's become more approachable because the prices have come down yeah like at one point it was to me it was like i can't justify a thousand dollars to get one of these to make like tchotchkes you know what i mean Like I was just like, what am I going to do with this?
00:21:26
Even if it was to like print useful things, I'm like, still at what point do you get that rate of return in your head? Like, right. I can buy something on Amazon for six bucks. I can be here right tomorrow. Exactly. And there are still things like that because like there was something that my son and I were talking about printing and I'm like, dude, they're like $10 for five of them on Amazon. And it would take me four or five hours and material. I could never beat that. Right. I don't know how they're doing it for that price. I do. Instead of fucking sweatshops, there's just some giant building with a thousand of those things running all day.
00:22:00
I've seen them. That's really what they do. There's big farms of 3D printers. That's the other thing I was like, as soon as I got it, I was like, oh, now I understand why people have multiples because if it takes six hours to print one thing. Hold on, though. This is Erik's downfall. He's a collector. You know when you need something to clean the cleaner? and they're like, well, what's cleaning the cleaning cleaner? He's going to be like, well, this one's busy and this one's busy. And I want this real bad right now. I need another one. So what I heard from you, Erik, is that the price came down enough that you could fucking sell it to Aaron that we needed this.
00:22:33
It was going to be okay. Now we're looking at how we're going to justify a second one. Oh, let's say the price came down far enough that I was like, I'm just going to do this. I was going to say, hey, Shaun, Aaron's just finding out. What are you talking about? Hope you had a great birthday, Aaron. We love you. Why is there a glow-in-the-dark butt plug out here? Hey, at least any gets to go, it's Jax. Or Nathan's, whatever. Or even better if she walks out and goes, that's where it's at.
00:23:00
I forgot where I put that. Alright, we'll save the rest of that conversation for Patreon. But yeah, no. I think they're awesome. They look great, man. I like the shine on them. It's pretty cool. Kind of looks like a Christmas decoration. Ornament. Well, that with the gold, I'm like, it's like the year of the dragon finger you know get some ornaments for people there's yeah christmas gifts right there let us know if you'd like a we're still cool right ornament eric's thing eric you're definitely need a second machine like we're not gonna keep up i mean i can hear jody's head ringing right now the idea is like that thing's gonna be on fire she'll have one by next week how does she not have yeah right she might i don't even know but i think we can all agree that it's cool yeah oh Nothing wrong with it Nothing wrong with it God, I love sound effects We got nothing wrong at all We gotta say before we started, Logan's like, no more sound effects I swear like half the episode last time Was just me playing the sound effects And Tron's like, yeah, it was the best shit ever We could do a second episode of more sound effects Did you figure out, did you hear what movie That one was from? Oh, no, I didn't It's cool, there's nothing wrong with it It's cool, there's nothing wrong with it It's from Those really short ones are hard I trimmed them short, yeah.
00:24:15
I know the... I killed the babysitter. Don't tell mom the babysitter's dad. Is it that? No. Felt pretty good about that. It's a movie from 1991. That's cool. There's nothing wrong with it. Is it rad? No, but you're... I'm on the right track. You're kind of in the right ballpark.
00:24:36
Stars Keanu Reeves. Oh, fucking Point Break. Oh, the big surfboard. It's the kid that's something to surf for Lots of people are learning to surf at your age Can you look at something for me? There's nothing wrong with it The kid that's in that is he also in Mom, the Babysitter's Dead Because I'm pretty sure it's the same fucking kid I'm pretty sure it's the same He's pretty good at pulling these out too I was editing That's a Patreon thing But I have a thing to tell you But I'm curious I want to see if that kid's in because you're talking about the younger one from don't tell my yeah so you know dishes are done man that's the one but it's the next kid that's younger that's like always hitting on the chicks and making out in the car by the way that is one of the quotes I say the most in life and like only maybe 5% of people are like dishes are done man and they're like huh I'm like never mind it's not the same that there's dishwashers got it you're right fucking movie man over here it's so funny because his memory is not that great no you pull out this shit that I'm like you couldn't fucking put a gun to my head and make me remember that some reason movies and quotes and shit just work mine does too but not mine does not work that way at all and Aaron like with music she'll do the same thing she'll be like this is so and so the video was this and I'm just like Jesus
00:26:06
I wish it could be productive I mean, really, you know but yeah, although this weekend, was it Keaton's wife told him you know, if you guys didn't quote movies would you really have that much to say to each other? You know what I mean? Ah, damn it, Gina, you're right Not sure we'd have a whole lot of comebacks for things or whatever, so yeah That's actually kind of depressing when I think about Hold on, let's actually piggyback on this I have a lot of original thoughts I'm just going to recall old ones that nobody remembers No, for sure, but like because of the movie quote thing somebody just said something to me uh oh it was adam we were out the other day and he was talking about how we're talking about like gifts and memes and like the knowledge because my daughter made like this edit of like her her she had a sleepover she had this like 45 minute video of them just like playing a video game or whatever but she edited it down to like two minutes of just hilarious it's so funny and everything they do like a meme or a gif will pop up next to the person like she added all that and i'm like i don't know how you could do that like how do you remember like how a face reminds you of this meme that looks just like it and pop it right in, right?
00:27:11
And Adam was like, dude, kids, GIFs, and memes now are our movie quotes. They're movies, yeah. The way we were with movie quotes. And I was like, I never would have thought of that, but that's exactly what it's like. Why don't we give her a run at some of our stuff? Let's talk about that later. By the way, she made so much fun of me. She goes, Dad, it's not that hard. I saw you just sit for 30 minutes, and you looked stressed out the whole time you were making it. She goes, yeah, but it was easy. I enjoyed it. Yeah, okay. Cool, so I'll just start sending you stuff, and you can shrink it down for me.
00:27:38
Have a little conversation about that. Yeah. Best part is, she doesn't list this. I don't have to pay her. I'll make her do it. Okay, she'll get a royalty, which is still zero, but still. Awesome. That's a good one. Thanks for the gift, also. Yeah, that's awesome. They look good lined up here. They do. I think we'll keep adding to them. I love it. The one funny thing is the scale, I was trying to make it similar sized. You know what? You kind of left that part out. your screen and I grew it from where it was, where the original print was. I was like, oh, they're a little smaller than I... You know what? That's the epitome of guy math. This is huge!
00:28:14
And then it comes out like that. I didn't think it would be quite as big, but I thought it was going to be closer than it is. Yeah, you definitely could have girthed those babies up a little bit. I don't know. I think they look alright kind of sitting there. We just kind of put it down here. Because nothing's ever going to beat the middle finger, right? So it's like it's been our thing. It doesn't matter how big your finger is. You can still fucking flick somebody off with it. That's what we'll go with here. You know what the other funny part is? Going through all the middle fingers to find the right one.
00:28:41
Because some of them were like, with the thumb. And some were like, you know, they just looked like weird hands. You got a goose hooking it out there. Yeah. You got the super finger for the people who knew Dane Cook 25 years ago. That's hilarious. All right. Yeah. Today was the first day of school for my children. Yeah. So is back to school shopping still cool? No. Hold on. To find cool. I'm not just saying that as you being a parent. Essential, yes. Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, kids don't want to go. They're like, but then they're like, then they get mad about what you buy. They're like, well, I don't want all fucking black folders.
00:29:20
You're like, cool. You get to go with me then. Otherwise, I'm grabbing what I grab, and you're going to deal with it. So I think about this, and remember when we went back to school, there's lots of things that you get, right? not only just your school supplies, which my question to you guys, you can think about this. What was your favorite thing that you had to have with school supplies? And then you're fit, right? What you're going to be wearing. And to me, the biggest thing was I got shoes. Shoes were always โ€“ I would get shoes twice a year. I'd get them for back to school, get a fresh pair of kicks, and then I'd get a pair for basketball.
00:29:57
and then once basketball was over my normal shoes would be wearing out and i could start wearing my basketball shoes yep for outside shoes where'd you go for your shoes footwell footlocker footlocker yeah for a long period of my life it was payless shoes oh yeah those things didn't last no no no that's where you get dress shoes because you only at that age you only needed them once a year so it's like i'll take the 12 these ones and you're like by the end of the night dancing on the wedding dance where you're like oh no my soul came off like does anyone have any gum at some point i was like mom listen we're going through four of these a year at what point does it just like equal let's go get the good stuff exactly no mine would have been at a point when i was getting you know i feel like my my parents were was always like a hundred dollars and below they'd go to a hundred bucks that's what i could get which is funny we we kind of talked about this once because we were talking like our favorite shoe or whatever but it's like now if my kids ask for a hundred dollar shoes you know i'm like god it seems expensive you know what i mean it's really not you know what i mean well but they've also made like somehow shoes have like kind of plateau inflation yeah well i feel like even me i never buy a pair of shoes over a hundred dollars for myself i mean i have but even when i'm looking i'm like no no 130 no no 99 is way more intriguing every time i see under 80 bucks i'm I'm like, deal.
00:31:19
Right. Exactly. Like all day long. Cause it's just stained in my brain that a hundred bucks is what you get. Yeah. But so you're making it like you guys, like you made a day of it. It was like school supplies. I felt like it was almost like a week. It was like a week. You know what I mean? Like you're going back and cause I had two sisters and it was like, so we have to get your clothes and, and God, you're going to get shoes. That's a long week. Well, yeah. My poor mom now, right. You know, and now my poor wife is actually good. for you honey i'm i like shopping so i'll take it but i don't do all that in one day like we we did school supplies obviously like one day my son graduated so just me and layla went out and did and we for the first time ever ever because i was on sabbatical we did it early and so like it wasn't busy it was easy your time to pick everything was awesome because normally i'm one of those like four days out like let's go get this done and everyone's in there so ashley ordered all the kids stuff sunday morning and it showed up on it was on our doorstep this morning when we woke up so they could take holy you got here today yeah overnight it was overnight they got it that she got it that's where that so that's kind of where i was gonna go with this conversation because and i will i will admit aaron does all of this because she wants to do it and she loves doing it with the kids and they appreciate it because i'm horrible to shop with i'm like get get the shit let's go yeah but i would just do it all online like i don't know i i mean that's that my thing is like i struggle with how it so painful anymore because i would just order all the shit on amazon and i be like i kind of don care if it costs a little bit more Well that the thing Yeah it definitely costs more but it like the ease of it
00:32:59
Anything that's convenient costs, right? That's what it comes down to. It worked out great for us because of all places, this is weird. Because I would have just went to fucking Target, Staples. I would have went honestly to wherever. It's like I knew everything was. But a friend on my Facebook was like, go to Target. it's like they have the cheapest school supplies i'm like target never is the cheapest of anything right but we went there during the day i don't know 10 a.m no one's there and they weren't wrong like we got in and out there for i don't know 35 bucks also the school supply list has shrank well like so much compared to when we were kids that's the best part because both my kids are in high school now so their list is a lot less than it used to be you know where you needed this certain pencil and this right certain whatever dry erase board you know for those things everything's binders folders right we honestly just spent extra because like my daughter's like i have to have mechanical pencils i'm like whatever i don't care like yeah as long as we get in and out and like that's fine i don't care no i did i did take something from my childhood as far as like budget wise with this at one point somewhere in like elementary middle school i was like whatever you guys don't use bring it home just throw it in a pile on the table yes and then i put it in a bin and then every year i bring out that bin and i'm like here's all your shit for next year whatever you're missing you can go buy yeah because like those ticonderoga pencils which is like what they want like we had two packs of them that never even got open i have entire drawers so we started doing that too and the kids actually have gotten better about going through that or i'm like you've used three pages of this notebook rip those out there you go you
00:34:33
know like you're good to go with this one yeah you're gonna lose this thing and you don't care like why are we saving the planet you're welcome exactly no but but it used to be a big deal when i was i remember like i was like thinking about what shoes am i getting this year like so to i ask you guys those things two things i was always into when i was younger is like the trapper keeper you know i mean it had to be cool yeah um and folder otherwise then it became the backpack yeah because like i a lot of times i would carry all my stuff in my backpack you know like i barely 60 pounds. Yeah. And you're just like lugging it around.
00:35:09
So did you guys always have trapper keepers? No, I grew up. It went away. I remember having them a couple of years and then it got old. I had it one year and I was like, this isn't worth it. You don't use it. I basically told my mom that and shoes at the point at one point. I was like, I don't need those things. Yeah. I want a starter jacket. I want a fresh starter jacket to start the school year. That's the move for sure. Yeah. But no, like I, cause nowadays I even remember when the kids had to have like three ring binders and stuff. They don't even... I don't know. My daughter's going in eighth grade. I've seen that stuff in the past years. There was none of that this year.
00:35:43
Our kids needed a couple of those, but yeah, it was relatively. But yeah, they just got plain stuff. It wasn't the same. I remember picking out folders or I remember when the NFL pencils came out. Remember those things where I had every fucking team? Oh, you couldn't tell me shit when I had all 32 teams. You know what I mean? I'm like, which one am I using today? Can I borrow one? You're like, you can borrow the Browns, you piece of shit. That was the fucking coolest. I loved it. Or then our pencil box. You know, we always use those rubber, the rubber made, and you made it so it fit just fucking perfect.
00:36:15
It was, yeah. I loved it. It's funny, though. I didn't really like school, but I like school so much. I know. It's kind of nostalgic. You're like, no, it felt cool to have that stuff. You know what I mean? But that's it. So it was that, and then I went to the backpack when I got in high school, and then shoes were pretty much always my favorite. Yeah. And I don't think that's changed. Like, kids still love shoes. Although kids don't like there's the ones who are like super into sneakers. And then there's the kids who are like, they just wear what everyone's wearing. It's like the Birkenstocks or the fucking weird slides or whatever, the whatever's in that year.
00:36:47
Yeah. You know, I mean, Crocs were big for, I don't know, six months. And then that kind of went away. Yeah. I mean, Cooper was even like, I don't care. I want something like this. All right. Yeah. Done. Cause I think to him, like when I was like, no, you're not getting $140 pair of shoes. And he's like, fine. Then just get me something that you like. and i shouldn't say that because i actually did it but and they showed up i'm like those are fucking cool so you're like great that's awesome let me ask you a loaded question how many times do you think she just buys the shoes because like he deserves it and you don't get a no no actually no we should be clear in my house she knows where every penny is i don't fucking she's like yeah you can have the 140 i may be the banker but she knows where every dollar is yeah and um she ain't spending on her sounds like as long as she doesn't tell me no then i know we're good that's awesome yeah that's funny no i mean i i don't think kids think it's cool i mean like my daughter doesn't like shopping you know she doesn't mind going out to do something small like that but i remember being excited being young because you didn't go shopping a ton so it's kind of like oh i'm going to use this shit all year like i'm excited about it i don't think kids are like that anymore you know i almost say in a way that it almost snuck up on us this year like the school's going to start and like fuck we don't have any supplies cooper needs a new shoes you know like no one even said anything and it was like so i actually said this to a co-worker today and she goes because kids get shit all year long all the time and we never did when we were young
00:38:21
You got it for your birthday, Christmas, and back to school. That was about the three times you could get stuff. You know what I mean? And so you didn't. And now Amazon shows up every week with something. Yeah, true. And it's not always huge. You know what I mean? But they just don't have this like. But we could go six months and not get one thing. Like we had what we needed. Right. We were fine. It's not like we were without. But like you didn't get just like a random treat here and there. Yeah. Our kids do. Yeah. And I've never thought of it like that. It's the convenience of delivery. It is.
00:38:53
It absolutely is. Well, and I would argue too, I don't think my parents saved any money because what they had to buy was a lot more of that haul that week that we didn't have to do. You know what I mean? Because I needed so many pairs of pants to go to school. We also had to wear uniforms, which is worse because you had to have slacks. But in some way, it made it so much easier though. It did. Because you could have a blue shirt, a red shirt, those things that had to be... you know, a collared shirt and you could have blue pants, khaki pants, or black pants. You know what I mean? I would assume in the grand scheme of things that that's cheaper because you're not like getting into brands and all that.
00:39:31
Right. It was. It was just like you had to have so many because like kids are stupid and like you fucking, you know, at recess, it's like fucking slide on your knees. There's the grass stains. Oh yeah. Like I'm not holding back. Yeah. We were so. And I am fucking going to win this football. By the way, even if it just rips my hole, I just realized why shoes were so extra important to us. it was the only thing you could customize for yourself. For us, it absolutely was. I forgot about that. Everything was uniform, but your fucking shoes were not. Yeah, you didn't have to wear dress shoes. You could have the coolest sneakers in the world, and you're like, look, I got these.
00:40:04
You know what I mean? That makes a lot of sense. And everybody looked at your shoes. Like, first day, it was like, everyone's lining them up. Like, which ones you got? Checking the shoes. That, and I remember in fucking basketball. We were talking about it a month before basketball started. What are you getting? what do you get what do you get you know what i mean like yeah so you said you said cooper needed new shoes yeah you did like how bad were they yeah did he need them you've seen the way my son he's hard on shit i was gonna say he probably goes through they were pretty bad but he actually had just gotten a pair not too long ago that weren't too bad there's somebody having fresh sneakers the first day but now they wear crocs and stuff like that so much that he doesn't beat them up as bad or what i what we end up spending money on him is just cleats you know i mean like he just is in so many it just beats him up those aren't cheap it's like well and i also still have a rule of that of like how much i'm gonna spend i'm like you don't need the you're gonna tear them up and you're gonna grow out of them we like you don't need the most expensive thing like it's the main reason i asked like because i was thinking about jack this year this is the first time he's like he's been i don't want to go shopping i don't want to do any of this stuff like he didn't want to do any back to school shopping and i'm looking at his shoes and i'm like dude those are fucking ratty like they used to be white they look yellow now like i was like you look homeless so aaron just forced him today to go get new shoes there's also some kids that like the ratty like they like the look of them like they like beat up looking shit the hilarious thing is those
00:41:38
are what he's wearing every day and he has seven or eight brand new pairs of nikes like oh yeah he's got ones that he never wears but you don't want to crease you don't want to crease them which i don't understand the point of that but whatever that's unbelievable to me because like getting new shoes anytime i got to do it was like can we go now can we go yeah like yeah yeah so but yeah then we have kids that are like man i don't need them that bad i'm like fuck all right the whole the whole creasing sneakers jordan's thing we need to add that to the topic list that's going to be a future episode i bought a used pair of shoes because like the guy was like i wore them once for a wedding like he's a sneaker head you could tell by like his other listings were all like but they were a good price like normally like where they'd be like 120 like i paid 70 and i was like i'll take them they're perfect he doesn't tell me i stick my foot in it when i get home and I'm like, oh, motherfucker.
00:42:31
It had those crease protectors. And it just digs in your, and people wear them like that. All day long? They walk for that. They don't crease, but you are in pain the whole day, and I was like, get the fuck out of here. I took those out so fast. I'm like, cool. I literally want to take a video of me creasing some brand new Jordans. What we should do, what we need to do is grab a couple bottles of whiskey, pop those things off, grease our Jordans and sit here in comfort and take all the bullets. Put on some isotoners after we do it. Be like, what's up, baby?
00:43:10
Bring it on, motherfuckers. Smoke some cigars. With an ice cube that gets poured over that. I love it. I love it. Is it still cool? I would say to the kids these days, it's really not. You said school supplies. There's kids who still like buying their shoes. Most kids don't like clothes shopping you know what i mean but like it's just not the event that it's not no i mean it used to be a true that's good so yeah no i'd say no i'm gonna say not cool either yeah not cool thank you thank you that's so fast thank you it sounds like john c reilly kind of sounds like a country or something i know thank you i got nothing it's so fast uh you nailed it it's chauncey right is it really yeah i do it to play it again now thank cool it's not it's not stepbrothers it's uh boogie nights talladega nights oh you know what you get a half point um it's the commercial where he's like uh what's the exact quote um listen leaving your big old corpse behind for your loved ones to deal with ain't cool that's awesome that's why you should call macready funeral services i knew it sounded like him big red Go fuck yourself.
00:44:26
Right. Well done. So we have these glasses in front of us. You clearly have something else on the docket. Yeah. Well, you know, I brought something special for two different purposes. You can decide which one. Are your pants off?
00:44:46
I fall for that every time. We got a little water in here with it. Hopefully you guys are okay with that. That's fine. Um, so, you know, you started a new job today and I figured both in celebration because it's nice to have some stability and all that shit back in your life. But then also you kind of realized, oh fuck, I can't do whatever I want for eight hours of the day. Oh, I'm going to get into it. I'm going to fucking let you know. So to introduce that topic, I brought some celebratory whiskey. Oh, look at him looking after you. Thanks buddy. That's some good shit. You know, shut the fuck up.
00:45:21
Turn that around. all right hold on give me whatever drink the water out of it whatever one is mine yes i am cheering too but now i don't want any water in mine so oh there we go here you can pour extra i've had this and it's i'm a big fan but yeah so what is that the william larue yeah or whatever yeah old billy so sometimes i forget we're an audio podcast mainly and so i was gonna say can you explain i know we'll just be sitting mayor and i'm like oh yeah people can't hear us so so eric's pouring us some people are going to be like sacrilege it's you're putting it on putting it over ice all that shit but that's how we roll here we don't tell you what to do with your whiskey you can fuck off i bought this i don't want a cube on yours yeah okay we're all kind of the same that way my general belief nine times out of ten you want ice with your whiskey or a little splash of water it's actually supposed to wake the flavor. It's on purpose. Yeah.
00:46:20
So I really like me. I do. But like at a certain like at home, like I'm going to be sitting there for a while. I'm sipping it real slow. Like, I mean, literally like kissing my lips and making it last. But or if it's that or it's super hot. Like, you know, if I'm having like something that's way hot, then I'll put ice over it. But I never mind it. That's for sure. Thanks, buddy. I appreciate it. Yeah. A little more here when we get down to it. So for what that's worth, Mike, congratulations, but I know you've, you know, well, fuck it. It's been kind of a chit show trying to find some of this stuff out there.
00:46:56
The job market's kind of shitty out there. Well, it's just kind of weird. Yeah. Because, I don't know if you haven't been through it, they just decide they don't call you back now or like, it's weird and shit. They want you to lie on your resume, like you have to run it through AI first. I'm sorry, you want me to lie? I'm not great at that. I am fully qualified for this. Is this a fake fucking post out here? But anyways, so cheers to you, brother. Cheers, guys. Love you guys. Cheers to everybody at home. Congrats on contributing to society again. Thank you. I know. I mean, living off the taxpayers was nice, but dude, isn't that good?
00:47:27
I know. I never lived off the taxes. I've never really talked about it. I've had a long, I've never gotten into it. I had a long, I got laid off after 17 years. I had a very, very long severance and boy, was it fun. And it was used. And boy, did I live it the fuck up. And you made it basically through the summer. I did. I did. I mean, I made it literally to the day before. in pool season so literally so it's like i have no complaints i mean obviously the best case i would have been to find a job right away and just pocket all that extra money that was always the plan but i wasn't being super picky but i was like obviously i have like a way of life and i have to think about my kids and everything so but it worked out great i found like a perfect job for me i'm not going to say where i work but it's a really good company and i'm super happy but i started today and uh having said that i'll say this i have a chaps my ass working why the fuck do you guys do this this is so dumb like i am so mentally drained and it was in fucking just one day and i'm like god well guys you're in the worst spot at the beginning of training like the beauty in the beginning is you can't really fuck up you know because they don't let you do it yet but you're all this training it's probably good though because i have a lot of direct reports and i'm like it probably is better that i have like that call training is boring as shit but it's calm yeah it's better than like being thrown to the wolves of like like people coming at you constantly i couldn't imagine like i was i was surprised that you said your first day was at home remote but then i was like man i don't know if i could do that like that i haven't worked in an office yeah forever i'm not
00:49:00
And then also being like, the first day going back in, I would be like, oh, shit. And I'm like walking in a suit or something. Can you imagine people start coming up talking? You're just like, ah, ah, I can't do this. And you just run out the building. You might have been the most disciplined work from home employee ever today You were just like I can screw up at all Oh I mean I sent you a few texts and i didn get anything back until what i can assume was a lunch break yeah and then nothing till you're done so i was over my head i mean there was just so much info coming at me i'm like i can't even touch my phone right now yeah you're gonna be that way for a while i'm guessing i know i know and that's and that's totally fine you know what i mean but like i i'm super happy like i have no complaints and uh you know i looked at my kids today and i go man it's just funny because when this all started a long time ago, I was like, it'd be so sweet to have the summer off with my kids because I'm sitting here thinking like, I'm going to find a job right away.
00:49:51
Cause it's not, it wasn't for lack of trying, but like you, you know, you do have these certain points you have to hit for other way. I'm like, I'm not going to go into like an entry level thing and take half a pay. You know what I mean? Yeah. So it ended up, I had the summer on my kids, but I never felt comfortable. I was like, I was stressing all summer. So I told my kids, I'm like, it was great having the summer with you. I'm sorry. I was a little stressed out. all summer. What you really wanted was to get a job. And they say you start August 23rd. I wanted in March them to go like, would you not really start 8-1?
00:50:24
And I'd be like, fuck yeah, I do. Maybe you should have put that on your resume. Maybe they'd be like, hey, we get this guy but we get five months without having to pay. This guy knows what he likes. Shit, you might be on to something. They were like, we don't need you now, but we need you then. I would have been like, I'm your huckleberry. Let's go. Fucking open up how many doors? We didn't even think of that. Pretty much, Shaun, where were you then? Oh, fuck. Day late and a dollar short. Well, fuck, if that don't sum me up, then I'm going to tell you. Yeah, but hey, never had to live off to taxpayers and everything's good again, so yeah, cheers.
00:50:58
The whole podcast career is employed again. This is delicious. This is good stuff. Dude, it's so good. I had this once with you and I can't remember where it was. And this fucker didn't even tell me he had it, but I know the bottle. and he walked in and he's like, hey, I have this. And you played it so nonchalantly and he was like, does anyone want any? I'm like, yeah! Yeah, I want some. And I ran and grabbed a glass and I was like, of course I want some. 133 proof. That's where I was catching a little of that. It definitely needs a cube. It's really good, but I feel it. And it's not just because it's hot, but it's because there's actually a lot of complexity in it.
00:51:34
It opens it up quite a bit. But the purists would say you have to try it all the different ways and i agree like you should try it neat drop a water cube you should try it all the ways but whatever you do but you know what there's a lot of people who aren't gonna like it neat and that's okay like that's what i hate about those people is they're like well you have to try both ways so you can see the differences and you're like i know this person they don't like hot whiskey they're not gonna like it neat like why why even do it any of our friends that watch this or we're gonna get some text messages oh i know just because of this one yeah it's fine hey look at all this ice bastards bring it on woman yeah sorry sally mr hurley you've been drinking again yeah i had a few chardonnays what of it but no i mean i could you know getting back to just joking around it's like god fucking work is exhausting like i i say to everyone i look i like sean earlier we were like walking to the bathroom he's like god you're really bitchy today i was like he's a great he's creaky as fuck i'm like I am. And I was like, you're right. I am. I'm like, I am so not used to that. Like you, I got way too complacent. Like while I was stressing out and trying for things and whatever, it's like, I was, you know, living it up. Like if I was like, you know what? I'm tired. I'm going to take a nap. Like I can just do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. You can't apply for a job eight hours a day. Like you just run out of shit. So you can knock it out early and then you might meet with some people and you're trying to get some stuff going. Yeah. Then I reach a point and someone goes, hey, we're meeting for late afternoon for drinks.
00:53:08
You're like, sounds good. You don't. I got nothing going on. Did you have this phase in your transition when you went? No, because I had a little bit of a break. Yeah, but mine was a little less expected and a little. I see he had a second business going. Yeah, and then I started the other business and I was doing that. So you didn't have that kind of when you came back in, you were like gung-ho, ready to go. I was ready to go. Yeah, I was definitely ready to go. But it was still, yeah. I mean, I remember the first eight hour shift going, Jesus, we done yet? You know what I mean? But then you jump in and get busy in a way.
00:53:38
And I just told Aaron, like when I started, that was what I told her is I was like, listen, I don't know why, but I feel stressed the fuck out because I'm absorbing so much. And I feel like I have to be here eight hours. You're just not used to that much. It was just too much. You know, you're responsible for, right? Yeah. Because, you know, Erik and I were both on that in that same boat, like just on severance. and we had a break and we had a lot of fun we went a lot of bike rides and like did a lot of stuff but like it as much as i bitch about it i'm so grateful thankful like i'm so happy yeah but it's just you're mentally exhausted yeah yeah and it's you know i mean you kind of forget about that too because you were at the last company forever i was at one for a really long time i forgot more things than i knew you know i mean like you just knew everything you knew who to talk to what did you know you just do yeah and then you get a new company it's like very simple like i don't even know who does this i don't even know you know you know what i mean and you're like i think i know the answer but i don't quite you know what i mean yeah that's what gets exhausting or stressful you know i mean and doing that part of it that there is something to be said when you're at a place for so long you know that comfort of just knowing the answer or if you don't know you know exactly who to talk to to do and you know if you say something who's going to be upset or not That's a different thing when you come into a certain level in a company.
00:54:59
I started throwing around my opinion, and I fucking pissed a few people off that were like, motherfucker, that was my idea. You know, I'm like, well, you know, I'm not trying to. Thought we were being open and honest. I thought that you wanted my opinion on something, you know what I mean? So there's that different stuff there for me. Well, and you're brand new. You're trying to add value and show that you have value. Yeah, it wasn't nothing personal. It was just like, yeah. Establish your identity at the place. Yeah, yeah. so that's a good point though like i never i didn't think about that like that is the greatest part about because not a lot of people stay at companies as long as they used to these days like there's people who do it there's a lot of people who like the game is every few years i'm jumping jobs right that's how you get big raises it can all crash down in a hurry i've seen that happen too but like that's the thing that's day one that's the biggest thing i was scared of i'm like i know my boss it's great like my team's great like all this stuff's great but i'm like man i'm used to knowing 99% of where to go or the answer.
00:55:55
Or even the people. Like somebody walks by, you're not like, who's that guy? And you're like, oh, well, that's the executive vice president. I know. And you're like, well, I should probably know that guy. I shouldn't tell him that his fucking shoe sucker.
00:56:07
Hey, dickhead, your fly's down. Brush your hair, loser. I bet that guy drinks Dying Mountain Dew. Callback. Right. Haven't done one of those in a while. anyway having said that yeah i appreciate it uh yeah on to bigger and better things that came up i think it was adam giving me shit about that the diet mountain do you think yeah yeah because you're like i judge people a little bit what the hell are you thinking yeah i don't remember what i said do you have a few minutes quick to like did you guys do anything fun in the ozarks or we did i mean it was fun so just obviously yeah yeah i went down with my family with my cousins and my uncle and um yeah it was just fun you know we had some different people than last year because some people couldn't make it and i'm like you guys know i only have so much room so i can only bring so many people at a time and it worked out there were six of us down there and um and a couple of guys had never been down there and so it was a blast we we kind of coved out on friday this time and then they wanted to go to the bar on saturday where it was like they're like let's go when's it going to be my wife because he goes when's it going to be the craziest and i'm like well saturday's got the best he's like let's go see the show on you know where you guys went was saturday definitely crazier than what we went on that friday it was definitely crazier so what was weird was it's a really busy place and they do have docks but they get filled up pretty quick and so i was like all right if we're gonna go we gotta get there early to make sure we can get a spot yeah
00:57:37
and um all of a sudden we're getting ready to leave and my cousin's like hey have you looked at the radar he's like we're about to get rain oh shit and so then we ended up just holding up and then we were watching like as soon as we saw it pass we jumped on and got out there so we actually pulled up and right when we were pulling in there's two boats pulling in ahead of us and then four behind us that were all going there so it was like we got there at the right time to be able to do it you know um and yeah it was a blast so i'm just imagining like all the docks are full just like pull up and be like, hey, jump off, fuckers.
00:58:10
I'll go anger out here and swim in. Hey, just drop us off here. We're cool. You hanging out there by yourself like an asshole. Yeah. No. The two disappointing thing that we had was the doc guy. Not the hot girl and wearing next to nothing. There's doc guys? Yeah, and this poor bastard was running all over the place. He was cool. He was a nice guy. He actually tied us up. and there's other i bet they're losing help too because school started down there last week so kansas and missouri started last week so then they lost tons of people yeah and then a lot of the kids go back to college you know and do that too so it was like this one guy run all over the place and then um same thing i was with my one of my younger cousins who's never been down there he's like this place is wonderful you know he's just like wide-eyed like this place is great and my Benjo's like, dude, wait till we get gas.
00:59:06
And you see the gas girls. We pull up. We had to fucking pump it ourselves. He's like, this sucks, man. You had to pump it yourselves? They were just busy. Same thing. Slow staff, you just know it. Because we talked about when we went up on last Patreon, but I don't think we talked about getting gas or whatever. Remember the girl? We're not going to say names or anything, but she's only down there for the summer, and she makes enough money that she pays her rent. Where was she? In Colorado? Colorado. She paid her rent for a full year in Colorado. She made no time. I'm sure. Seven weeks. So pumping your own gas, you saved on tips for sure.
00:59:45
I saved a little bit there, but it was just funny because he's like, and then we pulled up to the thing and he's like, and it's a fucking dude. And I'm like, well, you're not going the way it is. Then we get to Tap and Grill and there's a bachelorette party and blah, blah. And he's like, all right this is great there you go so it's kind of it's like when you go to Vegas you get to the buffet you're like here's where I make my money back so it was fun we ended up yeah it was a good time you know they have a dj you know that guy was there same guy walking around yeah doing the whole thing and it was but it was busier it was packed like you would have struggled the water level comes way up because there's so many people in there oh shit dickhead okay first of all you said that so nonchalantly but he's like you're so tiny you would have drowned in the pool so two of my you'd have to be on my shoulders my one cousin was on his even adam was like the next day he's like my calves are like burning a little bit for me really yeah yeah there's a girl next to us that was standing on a bucket like you get those beer buckets that is hilarious and we put it down she was standing on that because the pool gets when there's that yeah because it's like a huge like Olympic sized pool and you get that many people at the water level just comes way up here for it.
01:00:59
It was great when we were there. But it was a lot different. Yeah, that's hilarious. Something to keep in mind for you. Yeah, bring my own bucket. Got it. I think they do it because then it gets all the girls up on the table. That's smart. Because that's what happens. Because they do have those slabs. So we were standing by one because you just find your spot. We happened to be on that middle one. Oh, on like the long run. The long one in the middle because it was the only thing that was open. All the other ones were done. Well, that's where they fucking do everything. So then you're just sitting there like, all right, you know.
01:01:29
But a bunch of the girls are like, it's hard for me to touch. And the one guy's like, here, let me help you. You just said to you, you know what I mean? So then all the tables covered with all the girls. Yeah, so it's kind of fun. That makes sense. It was definitely a good time, but I'm getting too old for this shit, man. I'm really ready for summer to be done. Hey, Murtaugh, how many years can you say that, bro? Jesus, I am just... It's funny. When's your official last weekend? We don't even have it marked yet, but we're done pretty much entertaining just because now football starts for Cooper and school and it's back.
01:02:01
It's going to be hard for you guys to get down there. I'll have to go down at least twice more because we have to do stuff to winterize and close it down. So I'll have two more, but a lot of times those are just down and back. But pretty much we're kicking around, seeing if we can get maybe two more weekends in there or something, but it's very hard to commit to. Maybe we can do a boys go down and help you close up. Look at Erik. Erik had to miss out. I didn't get to go.
01:02:32
Sounds like a podcast we can figure it out. Let's write that baby off. I have a job. Can't do it. Sorry. Just kidding. I'm in. That's funny. We'll have to see if we can figure something out. Yeah. You guys ready for a dad joke? You actually have it ready? Yeah, I have it ready. Let's fucking go. Give me that damn joke.
01:02:53
I love that sound. Did you hear about the restaurant on the moon? It has a space bar. Fuck, I don't know. No. Great food, no atmosphere. Fuck!
01:03:11
There's a joke about... Did you get it? It's either left finger right where he's deciding which way he's going to go. like gladiator where it's like yeah exactly get fucked russell crow you got nothing that was a good one i thought i was too i just remembered there was an astronaut space joke about a keyboard whatever number space bar whatever i had one i was just from the cragator that's kind of where my head was that. I know. I went to, yeah, I was like holes, like fucking footprints. I was not thinking that. No. The footprints were fake. I had one earlier that I liked and I didn't save it.
01:03:59
Didn't you do that last week too? I do that a lot. Another one. Hey, he had a long weekend. He's a little banged up. You know what? After the whiskey though and that first drink, the medicine we had, you said a little better? Well, the medicine coated my throat. That was like perfect. that cherry juice did a good whole thing. I'm glad it worked. Thank you, Chartreuse. Having said that, I think we're going to get out of here and we're going to go on to Patreon. Thank you to Upload Media.
01:04:28
It's like now we know to pause now. Hold on. Thank you to Benz for supporting the drink and looking us up today because that was some good stuff and unusual stuff that you had to get to. Matt, if by the time you're listening to this, it's still primed Or just white. Just give us a little heads up. Just give us a little heads up. Yeah, boys, it's going to be a white building now. Or it's going to be whatever. Just a little heads up. If we have to say other than big green building, we need to know this ahead of time. I mean, you never know. They might be painting a mural of us on there. That's terrifying.
01:04:59
That would be hilarious. Don't do that. Your sales are going to go down. Fucking awesome. Don't do that. That would be so awesome. I mean, me and Shaun had very different answers. You don't want to be on it. I'll just do it. What if they painted the whole building still cool blue? Yeah. like that logo with me kind of leaning against I like it notice I was a me not we it's a very Shaun comment the guy did save America I could I would see myself next to the L I could see you just hide behind the sunglasses with your face and Erik put a hat on me and I'm good I don't care we love you guys thank you for tuning in and we'll see you on Patreon see you guys cheers bye you
