Hey buddy! What's up man? How are ya? Good, a little hungover. St. Patrick's Day. St. Patrick's Day. The gift that keeps giving all week long. I know, I had to wear my green and stuff. I was like, okay, it's post-Patty's Day. And I just don't feel like giving it up yet. I guess I just don't know if we're still cool. I feel like I am this week just because I'm not used to doing so many things. We had a good Paddy's Day. Yeah. And then yesterday was absolutely gorgeous, which should have been, you know, lay low hangover day. Yeah. Got out, was outside all day biking, got a little sunburned, drank some more beers.
00:00:41
And, yeah, now we're today. I'm really not hungover. I feel good. Yesterday was a rough start. Yeah, I wasn't too bad, actually, either one. So we, same thing, the day was so beautiful that I was grilling stuff, and I'm like, wow. Yeah. Yeah, grill going, better have a drink. It was two nights. Yeah. I had one. That's a whole thing in itself. I can't. This makes me sound just like a raging alcoholic. But I'm sorry. If I'm grilling meat, I'm going to have a beer. I'm going to have one day, but I'm having a beer. It's a nice setup. It's just, it tastes good with this charcoal smell in the air. And yesterday was so perfect.
00:01:14
Yeah. And then today is just awful. We almost had to cancel the podcast again. Imagine it's Wednesday again, and we're going to snow in the forecast here. So we've talked about it before but it's just infamous since we started doing this every Wednesday is a fucking snowstorm blizzard hail yeah, 80 mile-per-hour winds like Canceled school after the day before it was 60 something What did you did hit 70 yesterday? I guess I don't know but it was it was perfect. It was so perfect It was just amazing, but yeah, that's why I text her I'm like, are we doing this cuz I'm hearing it could rain or it could snow and I'm like that was so annoyed Yeah, but no no complaints, but now it's gonna be shitty weather for another you know at least ten days a couple days sounds like and then We're just at that point in the year March It's like you just never know but we I do this every year where I get excited Oh on that one day, and I'm like it's time we're back baby like it is and then I know mother You're gonna pull the rug out. I still do it every day. Just get more disappointed You just can't foresee it coming after you get those beautiful days But so I'm just gonna act like today's Paddy's day again. I'm drinking a Smith wicks wearing green So I was told it's Schminix.
00:02:23
That's how you pronounce it. Schminix! I was born in America, so god damn it's Schminix. Right, so I just remember somebody getting on me about that and they're like... By the way, I think you're totally right. You say Schminix, then you're like, that's exactly how you order it. Our ruby red brew with a gentle hot bitterness. It's delicious. Alright, alright. Well, good for you. Yeah. Proud of you. I'm getting on the bush light today. Yeah, yeah, you're taking my job. I am. But actually, I saw an interesting drink. Are you ready for it? I like Captain Morgan. It is Captain Morgan. And we talked about, boy, this used to be a staple.
00:02:59
Oh, my God. Captain Morgan, the amount of Captain Morgan we had. I feel like it's falling off. I wonder why. Just because, like, the seltzers and stuff are so popular. Or is it just because of how much we drank in college? You know what I mean? Like, is that? We drank a lot of Captain. Yeah, it was, like, the go-to. Yeah. But I haven't had it in, I mean, I can't even think of the last time I had it. in anything it's been that long. I know. So here's the deal. It's a captain and it's supposed to be Fresca. I was just going to say is it Fresca, Shaun? What is it instead of Fresca? Well like a genius I grabbed the Canadian Dry. Yep. Which is nothing like Fresca. Wait this isn't citrusy? Hey juice real is delicious. Right we're going to do it either way. We're We're going to do it again.
00:03:46
So it could be, it's kind of like our theme on here. This could be terrible or who knows. See, I kind of like doing this more. I mean, I love trying the drinks that people have found out taste delicious. And I know we're going to go through a lot of stinkers doing it my way, like we did with curdled drinks last time. But I like just randomly grabbing stuff and saying, let's do this. It was hilarious how many people commented on that on Snapchat, just that we put that on there. When we took that one, I put that on the people. Oh, my God, definitely curdled. Someone said, I saw it chunking in your mouth, and I was like, ugh.
00:04:18
And I'm like, first of all, it was not that bad. It wasn't that bad at all. It wasn't. It was like 10% sludgy is what I'll say. Right, yeah. You know what I mean? Well, and it's because there's enough with Guinness anyways. You have enough head that it all kind of mixed in. Yeah. If it was not, if it was anything but Guinness, it would have definitely not worked out. Yeah. But the amount of head that's on it, you're already used to it. I did feel immensely stupid, though, because it's like, duh. Like, if I would have thought for two seconds, I would have known that was going to happen. I was like, let's just pour it all in.
00:04:44
Pour it all in. Let's do it. It didn't go down the sink very well. No, it didn't. That's when I knew it was bad when it plopped into the sink. I was like, oh, no. Well, and we found out later Erik wasn't in great shape anyways before we even did that. We hand me Erik's too. He gets the pleasure of this one. Yes, sir. So, yeah, Patty's day was great. We all, all of us got to go out together. We did. We haven't seen them forever. You ran into uncles while we were out. Yeah, we took the podcast crew out. We did. Actually, well, I guess that's not true. We've had a couple outings since then. We have.
00:05:18
But it's never been us together, though, right? Like, it's either because Erik and I were out one time. Yeah. And then I don't feel like the three of us have been out. Other than when we, like, kind of talked. We had our podcast night before we started it. Yeah, the meeting. About what we were going to do. The kickoff meeting. Sure. But, well, let's give this potential train wreck a shot here. What do you think? Okay. initial smell it smells like captain okay I mean it's it's just an equal equal parts of of itself Cheers Cheers it goes oh it's not bad but it's pretty much just captain I think it's I think it's a it needs to be two parts Sprite or Or Canada Dry.
00:06:11
I think so, too. I think the Fresca would have been way better. Yeah, would have really helped. Scale 1 to 10. Oh, that's not good. I mean, I like Captain, though, so it wasn't like a Zabat. You know what I mean? I was like, we don't do that. But, like, I mean, we'll keep it out. And if anybody's game for it, like, it was good enough that I'd do another one. And I'll do the, I think it's 2 to 1. Yeah. Yeah, I think if you gave that to someone who hates Captain, they'd be like, oh, I hate it 1% less now.
00:06:41
Like, this isn't going to be on anybody's new go-to. No, no. We didn't just come up with the next big thing. You know what? That's all right. That's okay. We're okay with it. Hey, man, you just got to, you know, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Exactly, exactly. Michael Scott said that. Yeah. So. Oh, what else has been going on? Well, as you talk about that, though, March Madness, baby. Oh, yeah. I haven't done a bracket in years. Really? I haven't no it's weird I used to religiously do it and every year I go like I'm gonna do it and like something comes up and I just like We used to do it at the office all the time. Yeah, and then since people went remote So we just stopped doing it right so then I would like do it online or like grab the friends and do one I just haven't done it in a few years So a couple years ago because I don't I used to watch college basketball all the time Like I was I would always know what's going on. I have no clue. You know what I call it What?
00:07:32
Vasectomy season That's what it is. Yeah, absolutely. That's when they take, when you call to get it done, they're like, We're scheduled for bugs. We're three years out for that one. So I was like, how about the Masters? They're like, oh, that's the other one. The time's gone. I'm like, come on. It's so good, though. You just lay there. You know sports is on. Wife cannot get mad at you because she's like, you did it for us. We did it for us. My peas are thawing. I need another bag. That's about it. Yes, that's good. Anyways, so a couple years ago, we did one as a family. Like, it was just me and the kids.
00:08:04
So, because none of us really know anything. So, we picked it. And then the winner got to pick, like, a family night out. Like, where are we going to go for, like, we'll go bowling or something. Or, like, you know, whatever. And then go to dinner. So, we did that two years ago. Never did it. We just never, every time we'd have a plan to go do something, something would pop up. Then we'd have to do it. I think Sophie won. Well, I'm going to text her and be like, so, if your dad owes you dinner. Yeah. Oh, she's been plenty since then, but yeah, yeah, right, you know, so, so anyways, I think, um, but it's fun, like, we don't do the app or anything like that, it's not like I actually print it out, and like, it's just fun to, like, it's way more fun, and you sit there with the games, and you go check it, and you scratch them out, and you know, like, it's just way more fun that way.
00:08:49
Speaking of that, Erik, do you got a printer? We could do one with us, we could do one. Oh, we should do that. We should definitely do it. Yeah. Yes. Yeah, you guys will get me out of retirement for that, I'll definitely do it. I've also never won one. I've always done terrible. Because I'm always that guy who's like, I'm going to bust everyone's shit. So instead of picking most of the winners, I'm like, no, I'm picking all the wild cards. And so I'm out. So you're just always that guy. I'm the guy who always commits to every Iowa team. I'm like, they're going. Oh, God. Whether it's UNI, Iowa State, Iowa.
00:09:20
I'm like, and just it's a crappy. It just doesn't work. But Iowa State, they're good this year. Isn't UNI decent too? I don't follow basketball super close. I don't know. I thought they were decent. I don't know. I know Iowa's not. We just got rid of our coach. A little friend. They're not on there? Oh, okay. Drake's on there. That's all. And I think Drake is good this year. No, you and I is purple. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, okay. That makes sense. Yeah, I'm totally down to do one. It sounds fun. And we can put a lot on this if you think about it. Well, let's talk about the wage right now. And as soon as we get done, we'll fill out a bracket.
00:09:59
Okay. and then we can give some updates because we're going to have a couple weeks here. We'll give some updates where we're at. It's not over until the 7th, April 7th. So the three of us, we need a bet. What is the bet? Oh, God. So I say there's a bet. Okay, wait. I have two things. Yeah. If we're going to do this every week, do we have a weekly bet? Like of who's winning on the way? How do you – is this on a point system then? Like first round wins are worth one point? So generally you do it for like – so all rounds are equal, right? So if there's 64 games, like everyone's round one, everything's worth one point.
00:10:32
Then it's worth two. You know what I mean? And then you just, so every round, that's why if you have one that gets at the end, you get huge points. That's the way I've always scored it when I've done it that way. Does it start this weekend? It starts tomorrow. Oh, tomorrow. Well, yeah. Okay, tomorrow's Friday. I'm not good at it. No, tomorrow's Thursday. Yeah. Dude, my week is so messed up. I don't usually have multiple days off in a week. I worked a half day Monday for Patty's Day. Sure. Tuesday off. I'm off Friday. I'm messed up. Just a mess. I know. and I'm bitching like that's a bad thing. Anyway, okay, tomorrow, yeah.
00:11:00
I agree. All right, so let's talk about a wager. Okay, so we're going to do it weekly. So we could do it like, should we just say the winner gets this and the loser like has to do something? Well, that's kind of what I was thinking. I was thinking a little something on here. And then the person in the middle just gets to slide by and then not do anything, you know what I mean? I mean, on our drinking things, do we throw some kind of shitty shot together that somebody has to do? So that's kind of where I was leaning is like first new wins, each person has to buy them a beer or like a four-pack, six-pack, whatever.
00:11:31
And then the loser has to drink something that the one and two come up with. So I say – It can't be too gross. We're not – like if you put ketchup in my shot or something, we'll be able to – No, I don't want to throw up. But, you know, I mean, I want it to be like – Yeah.
00:11:45
I think that would work, though. Yeah. We'll kick around some ideas. But, I mean, that's not – But you like the weekly idea here? I kind of like it where it's just like it's out for the week when we don't know, and then we score and figure out who's the person who gets stuck doing it. Oh, we score. You know what I mean? Where it's like we can score there or, like, whatever, right before we come here and see where everyone's at. You know what I mean? Where you don't know, and then it is, uh-oh, here's who's in third place right now, and you have to do. I mean, and the most fun part to me is, like, none of us are, like, super competitive until it's, like, there's kind of a fun wager on the line.
00:12:18
Then I start to turn into someone people don't know. What is wrong with you? What a dick. I just wanted to win this. I'm not competitive as long as I'm winning. Then I'm fine. Well, that does help.
00:12:32
So that's kind of where I stand here for. I mean, that seems reasonable. Yeah. Sorry, it's fine. Who's the best team? I know Duke's really good. They're a one seed. They're always good. There's always the normal North Carolina one seed. Auburn, Florida. Oh, Florida. I think Florida is the main pick. I think that's the one everyone, I think. There's a lot of kind of interesting number twos and threes. Okay. Like Michigan State's number two, Iowa State's number three. Yeah. There's a lot of interesting, even, you know, there's always that fucking, like, 16 or something that goes. It's never, it's only 16's only happened, like, once.
00:13:16
But, like, that's even one. but it's always like right in the middle of the year. They bust everyone's shit, which is the most fun part. Yeah, and that's who you instantly start rooting for. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, you know. We've talked about that. Like, I mean, I don't care who's playing in a game. If I don't have any skin in the race, I'm going for the underdog every time. But I love it when you just, like, somebody just has that tournament and you just watch, you're like. Like, I remember when Steph Curry broke into, like, when he came on for Davidson. He was like this skinny guy. His jersey, like, didn't even fit him.
00:13:44
Do you guys remember that at all? He was 12 years old. Seriously, and he just went to town as a junior. It was awesome. He had this great run for Davidson. Then they came back the next year, and he had another good playoff. But he was so good. You know what I mean? And no one saw it coming. He's so undersized, you know what I mean, and was even more undersized in college before he got NFL-style weight room. And he was so good. Those are the guys that were fun to watch. You get into that thing, and it's like. The other fun part to me is when it's college basketball, For the people who don't follow it like religiously, there's all these teams you're like, that's a team?
00:14:20
Yeah, like you know like St. Mary's of Alabama, you're like what the fuck is this? Exactly, yeah. You're just making shit out of that point. Yeah, yeah. Francis Loyola of Kentucky. Right. You're just combining schools, but... There's some of these that are acronyms on here I would have to look up. That's... I have no idea what they are. That's what I mean. Or like where are they even located? You're like, I have no idea. No idea where it's at. British or Loyola? I'm just always like, I don't know, it's probably on the East Coast. Yeah. The Northeast, because that's where all the colleges are at.
00:14:48
That's where all the, you know. Somewhere Chicago or Northeast. From there on, it's anywhere over there. It's definitely not West. Yeah. Well, yeah, okay. Yeah, we're doing that. We're doing it for sure. All right, so we've got a little time to think about it, but I think it would be fun if we do it weekly, kind of an update of where we're at. Yeah, I think we update it weekly. Where we're at. And then as the season goes on, we'll start thinking of, well, I mean, I guess we have to figure it out now because someone will be in the lead. But there should be a bigger thing for the end whoever you know Yeah, I mean odds are maybe the person who does the best every I mean for the first couple weeks is gonna be you never know Okay, that works do you like tequila? I'm not talking about it. Do you like to heal us?
00:15:38
You like it though like I don't like it's not my favorite Sure, I will tell you I'm saying okay. How about we I'll get a bottle Jose Cuervo and yeah Yeah, we have to go. Yeah, no, I mean it's just poured out and that's what we gotta do It's okay. Here's the thing and that's why I didn't want to say it. I fucking hate you I know but I don't like it either. No, I got it But then I had good tequila, but that's what I'm not talking about good. I know No, but is there another alcohol that exists that like they're allegedly the same thing and they taste so You can give me bottom-shelf whiskey and I'm gonna think it's gross, but I'm gonna go I can tell that's whiskey Yeah, I had good tequila like a you know 150 our bottle and I was like this doesn't There's no way to heal at all. Yeah, doesn't taste like it's like I would drink this all day Right, I don't want to spend 150 dollars in a bottle, but you know what I mean?
00:16:26
But yeah, I say come on Jose, I mean whatever, you know, I'm gonna say not gonna say no to things That's what sucks. So what do you say? You're not happy about it. He said no with his eyes, but yes with his mouth. Guess who's going to be researching this whole time about brackets that he needs to be filling out? Like, yeah. No, here's the problem with Dickhead behind the computer right now. It's like he's so analytical and shit like this. Like when we play, I mean, maybe I'm blowing up your spot, but also fuck you. You keep winning. And the league I have, like the fantasy football one. No, granted, anyone can go do this.
00:17:00
But like they have these little programs you can use. like and you know they just kind of give you your advice it like asking AI you know what I mean yeah it working out really fucking good for this guy Haven you won two seasons in a row Yeah See I just don do that I don do that I don either I don do it my way And why? I keep losing. Folks, there's a reason why we're on this side of the camera. He's on that side of the camera. You know, you guys all understand, right? Yeah. So, I don't know. We'll see what happens. But if I had to bet on one of us, I would bet on Erik. well one thing i do know with this it feels like all the assholes that have it all figured out never they never it's always you know it's always the chicken that picks like like has won a couple of times like what they throw out seed and the chicken goes and picks it up and that's how they pick it oh i mean i've seen all kinds of stuff like that where they do with like a dog like which one which bone they pick yeah whatever they hold her like so there's all yeah but i think like you know no one's ever had a perfect bracket AI not AI like there's never been one no because don't they run something every time where it's like a million dollars if you ever got like yeah I feel like that was like a big deal do like do offer it or something like that could have been I think like you've just even yes I think you're after yeah and all the betting sites all the betting sites yeah yeah exactly but yeah I mean it goes to show anyone can but I know a few times it's gone pretty deep into the tournament where it's like it's still a perfect bracket yeah and other times they're like nope yeah yeah everybody's out there has never been a perfect bracket right
00:18:30
yeah uh since they've been tracking in 2014 so before that they were okay over 10 years wasn't a thing so but you would never but 2014 then people were doing it the closest is a guy got the first 49 games correct holy wow that's crazy that's a lot well wait first 49 so that would have been there's 32 in the opening round so it wouldn't even been past the second round though no but that's right am i am i doing like every time they do that though that's what's crazy is they say like espn will put out okay there's i don't know 450 million brackets after the first day of games are like five percent remains like everyone gets booted the first day like it's that's how hard it is to even make it out of the first round without fucking up Well, hold on.
00:19:18
Do the math with me, right? So there'd be 32. And then what? Then it's 16 games in round two? Yeah. Half. Yep. So that's 48. So he would have made it out of that. So it would have been in the third round that he did that. Hey, this is a good time to talk about we say dumb stuff out here. And I've listened to some past ones where I've been wrong before I get it. Hold on real quick. I want you guys to all know I just did basic math. It was accurate. Yeah. And, yeah. You nailed it. I mean, they even carried the one and everything. You've been wrong about stuff before. I have been wrong. I mean, your wife said that, but I don't believe her.
00:19:52
I think there's 16 in each division. Because I'm looking at it, it's like ranked 1 through 16. Well, so there's 60. I know it's the tournament of 64 teams. Like, that's how it starts, right? So just half is 32. Yes. So that's how many games, right? The first round is 64. Yeah. But it's 32 games. Right. 64 teams, 32. And then he cut that one down in half, and then that's how you get, you know what I mean? That's where. That's pretty good, though, to get that far into the second round. That's awesome. But in the grand scheme of things, then, to say how difficult it is, that one person's only got, like, to the third round.
00:20:28
You know what I mean? It really is like winning the lottery. I mean, so nobody's gotten through the first weekend of it. Because they go Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. So they'll play. Oh, yeah, they have. And then they would have got to the next one to do it. But still barely. Yeah. But you did call me out for something, I do want to say. So I've been listening to stuff, and so I do want to give a real shout-out here. So I talked about, I want to correct it, The Six Nations is a TV show that I was trying to tell you to watch about rugby. No, you told me Four Nations. I said Four Nations. Then I correct myself.
00:21:01
I go, oh, maybe it's Five Nations. Do you know how long it took me to find those missing Two Nations? I still haven't fucking found them. Folks, he doesn't listen to anything. I tell him when things are watched, he doesn't listen to it all. So, you know, I mean, he's got. That's another thing, yeah. Yeah, we can dip in that one. But I do got to give the truth. So it's actually Six Nations, the rugby thing. Is it even rugby? Okay, I was like. It is rugby. Yeah, we got that right. We got that right. And 100% the shout-out is for the Confused Breakfast podcast. Oh, yeah. So it was Schulte. Yeah. Schulte who talked about it, and then I found it.
00:21:37
And obviously. So you heard about the show through him saying there on the podcast. Yeah, so shout out to those guys. And their podcast is fantastic. And everybody would know that. It's really good. But Schulte knows what's up. And he mentioned that. And I'm all into those F1, all that sports documentary type stuff. And so I watched it. I really liked it. But so, I mean, anybody that would listen to this would be like, so did he even actually watch the show? Or is he just making it up like Four Nations? Wait, no, maybe it's five. No, maybe it's. We talked about this before the podcast. Because I know I've done it.
00:22:10
Like, you listen to a podcast. I can't name a time, but it could have been a brand new podcast. Sure. But it's the same thing when you're watching Michelin star chefs make food and you're eating Cheetos and you're like, pussy. Right. You know what I mean? I didn't even know how to cook. I can't believe you cheated and made it that way. You know what I mean? Right, right. But, yeah, I do that all the time where I get so mad that they said something wrong. And I'm like, I do it all the time. But because it was a random thing that came up that I brought. I wasn't planning to bring it up. No. So then I'm trying to think about it.
00:22:36
And so I was wrong. So, yes, I was wrong. And I, you know, in News Alert, it will not be the last time I was wrong. Yeah. But I do want to correct that because I do want to give that, you know, but I'm the same way. I listen to things and I'm guilty. I'm driving down the road and podcasts I love to listen to. I'm like, come on. But it's infuriating. Yeah, I know. You're like, I know it. Like, you know, it's like the kid that called me. Called me. I'll give you the answer. You're just spewing fake news. You don't even know. But then I was talking about it and I said, I may have done the same thing.
00:23:09
I swear as a child watching the game with my grandpa Greg Maddox's first Career game with the Cubs first at-bat. I think it was first pitch is how I remember it in my head was a home run The more I sit here and think about it I'm like, I don't know if I'm just making that up or if that was somebody else But like I thought that my whole life. So if anyone knows let me know otherwise I'm just gonna believe I was right. Do not fact check it I mean this would be a perfect time to hear from the backroom here a little bit of do we just drive you nuts with some of the stuff that we send out are you just like yeah these guys are so wrong but I don't want to I can't jump in now yeah yes he is fact-checked more than one thing on us but also it's entertaining But he also knows he gets to call us on our bullshit. It really is the best of both worlds.
00:24:03
Yeah, like did you see how fast he went to grab the computer? Yeah, I was like if anyone knows he was like Just right there. He's back there calling balls and strikes. Which by the way, whatever I need to find out at some point. But I thought about looking it up, and I'm like I'm probably wrong, so. But it's fine. It is what it is. Let's keep your dream for tonight. Yeah, one more night. Thank you so much. So what'd you guys do on the beautiful day after Patty's Day? Did you guys get out and do much or? No. I mean. Just chilling? Yeah, I mean, Ashley was working, you know, and then, I don't know, I just ran around, did crap, picked up.
00:24:41
Shit that needed to. Yeah, just that, you know. For our last day to be outside for a while. Well, yeah, but it was one of those, I had like marinating chicken, you know what I mean? Oh, yeah. Which, we can talk about this, but I'm sure like everybody knows, like the Italian dressing, just like marinating chicken in that. like just the simplest thing it's so boring it's so easy and so good and so like did that and and i love you know since we've done that work in our backyard i love it you know i mean so we sit out there and we got the you got the black stone out there with the the little bar and so it was like perfect night sit out there you did the chicken on the black zone yeah yeah oh yeah i never really did chicken on it much really well like i did fajitas so like a fajita mixed with like very thinly sliced like you know chicken breast well so I'll cut it I always I always butterfly him I always do that now because now like when you get them you know then they're like this big it's like it's like the this ends burnt this ends like can you even die from it so I always butterfly him now and then they they cook so much easier and they're they're great the kids love them and even cooking brats on the blacks when I was never a big fan of it see I don't that's the only thing I don't I don't think like round stuff on it otherwise I cook everything out like steaks I got it down I got steaks down I got I get I'll cook everything on the Blackstone but so that's why I just want to get a little charcoal grill for yeah because we'll do hot dogs or we'll do brats you know anything like that stuff otherwise I switched off at gas a few years ago and I don't think I can go back man like that the taste of the charcoal
00:26:13
like on the meat it's just like I can't and sometimes I wonder if it's even that thing and whatever I'm blowing me up but I'll tell you what nothing smells better than just firing that baby up and you get, you know, nothing else. You're just like, all right. Yeah. Or my neighbor will get one going. I'm like, I just feel like grilling right now of whatever's going on. And so, um, so we got that, but then, and then the smoker I'll use for, for, you know, yeah, yeah. Like that kind of stuff. Yeah. I've, you know, and I've never done, you can offset and just use your charcoal grill as a smoker, but I'm like, uh, I just use my, my pellet one.
00:26:51
Yeah. I'm just not that good. Like, I know, like, the people that feed logs into it, and, like, I don't know how they keep the temperature. I mean, I don't know enough about it. But all those guys say, like, well, you're not really smoking if you're doing this. Look, man, you can sit out there all day long. I'm getting shit done, and it's doing it before me. And I understand. If they're into that, cool. But I love, you know, the 3-2-1 method with ribs? Down with it. You know what I mean? Easy bake smoke alone. Exactly. Yeah. It's paint by numbers, basically. Smoking. I'm all for it. Okay? I get it. I mean by all means if anybody else wants to do more I do Understand when I get around better ones and I'm like, oh That was really good. I'm just not going to be I just can't put in the Correctly ain't nobody got time for that. I ain't got time for it. Not yet one day when the kids are gone And I'm retired or whatever that I will gladly just drink beer and sit around a smoker all day But for now I got shit to do so So, ain't happening.
00:27:46
That's hilarious. Also, technology's great. So, you're like, oh, look at my phone app and see the... But also, you don't have that much to do. But, I mean, I'll give it to you. You know, you could have left that part out. There's days I have a lot to do. We got out yesterday, though. We went to take advantage of the beautiful day, and we've been dying to bike. So, we got out the bikes, and Erik and Aaron actually met us out. And we had lunch. Went to Tornado's. So good. I had been so long since I've been there. I haven't been to tornadoes in a while but shout out to that It's so good every time Like you forget how good it is Until you have it again It's unparalleled as far as burgers go in the city As far as I can say Just consistent All get out So we did that, we had some drinks We had this whole kind of Grandiose plan for the day but like I said It ended with Kara Took her bike out, her brand new bike for its voyage And popped a tire so we were by a bike bar and i thought oh this is perfect because they'll know how to change it because we're new to the biking thing so it's like i know how its inner tube goes on so but i don't know exactly how to do it so like oh we'll go there and someone will help us well i think everyone was hungover because they didn't open that day probably i mean it was after st patrick's day i mean like and even and st patrick's day was beautiful too so you know gorgeous yeah and there was even there was even a lot of bars downtown that they opened late the next day with like they had signs and like we ain't open until four like everyone's sleeping in today really yeah yeah bricks was like that um i mean it makes sense it does yeah and it was so beautiful on st patrick
00:29:20
city so it was like there's so many people it was windy that was yeah that was like the only i mean like definitely it was windy but it wasn't like it was still warm yeah so like i it's more like when it's really windy and then that gets cold but i don't like it you know i mean like today yeah but anyways yeah it's so all right blows out a tire where are you at when you blow the So we're down by this place called Sagwagon, and it's a biker bar. So we're like, oh, someone there will be able to help us out. So we just throw biker bar out there like I'm just going to glaze it, like biker bar. I mean, is that what we're talking about now?
00:29:51
Let me say it again. Yeah. A bicycle bar? Thank you. Bicycle bar. Because, I mean. It's the same, right? Oh, sure. It's the exact same types of people. Guys and beards. Yeah. Some are more taken care of than others. You know what I mean? Right. Some may wear different clothing. There's less leather. Yeah. You know what I mean? Uh-huh. You don't see a lot of if the bitch fell off you can see this shirt No, but they were close and no one's there to help us So we like this is the this is the part that I was done. I was like I'm out I go it was me Karen Jody and I said you guys sit at the park. There's a little park right there I said I'm gonna bike all the way back to the car Grab my vehicle and just come get you guys. You know what I mean?
00:30:37
So I take off, and I get three minutes from my car. So I bike, you know, I don't know, three, four miles back out of the way. And then I realize Kara has my keys. Oh, fuck. And I'm like, I just stop, and I'm like, motherfucker. And I text Erik, and I think you were on that text. I just said, well, don't have keys. See you in a minute. And by then, she had texted Erik. She's like, all right, we need help. So she texts Erik. We are not qualified for what is happening. We had no idea what we're doing. For God's sake, I can't get to my car with my keys. You know what I mean? So, yeah. She texts Erik.
00:31:08
He shows up to help us with the tire. Jody's meanwhile texting her husband, Nathan, and she's like, this is a lot. We need beers. And he was like, yeah. And he's like, plus I have the air compressor in my car. So Erik showed up, put the new inner tube in. Nathan's compressor filled it up, and we were good to go. So, I mean, at the end of the day. At the end of the day, it was a great day. A couple heroes. Oh, yeah. We got a picture of it. Kara and her two other husbands. It definitely saved the day. So it's why you don't go do that stuff all willy-nilly without a professional, you know So you weren't biking with them or were you there for lunch and then bailed out?
00:31:41
He was there earlier, but Aaron had to get the ferrules and stuff to work out and he had stuff to get ready for So this is where we're very different people So she got off the bike ride to go work out somewhere?
00:31:54
Okay Like I mean, I'm just saying I'm just throwing that I'm just going to lob that out there It's like a little topic here that we're talking about earlier I had to listen to this because I was like, she's like, I got to get to work out. And I was like, well, call me crazy. But, like, we can just keep going. What are we doing now? She's like, no, I need to lift. And I was like, carry my bike. I don't know. We're already on a few. I mean, we can do some push. I mean, yeah. Time for the prison workout. I don't know. You guys are going to stop and have some drinks, too. We're not just going to get it in.
00:32:22
I'm like, oh, you got me there. Yeah, but you can go do a down and back while we get a drink. I don't know. Get down and back. Check out the next one. Down and back. Yeah, no trust me we had this conversation. It worked out really well. Erik had darts and stuff that night anyway So we got lucky that he even could come help us the way he did. Save the day. Save the day. We've all like kind of changed a tire on a bike, but you know the old school bikes with like the big fat inner tubes And like they came off pretty easily when you get the tubes for these bikes. It's a road bike So it's really thin and it comes like a special tool to help pry it off and I don't know. It's a whole mess.
00:33:00
I know a lot of you out there understand what he's talking about. I don't. Thin? I bet you don't. I don't get it at all. Hold on. At first, I was thinking you were talking about the size of something else. And I'm like, oh, if you want me to call you not thin, I mean, you did it to yourself. Trust me. It's a different spare tire. Neither of us are being to health, my friend. Well, hey. I will say. We grill and bike. I used to ride bikes all the time, but not like when it was like cool. I used to be cool. Oh, I am now. Yeah. You are. You're like in the thick of this if you're riding bikes and you're spending the money on it.
00:33:35
Erik's been trying for years to get me into it. Every year he's like, you want to do rag bra? I'm like, you can go fuck yourself. There's zero chance that happens. I'll drive the bus behind everybody. That's what I want to do. You guys are. That's fine. He was like, I mean, he tried a couple years ago. This is what I do constantly. I say, no, I'm never doing that. No, I'm never doing that. And eventually I'm like, fucking you're wearing me down. I'll do it. Can we start that right now? When do we start are you riding it? No, are you riding? You're riding it. He does every year at least some. I'm just saying do we throw out a little challenge if we get enough people following us then we got to do something.
00:34:08
I think that's a shit idea until we know how bad the track is. We can do a podcast on a day of riding. That's what I'm thinking. For fuck's sake. Have you seen what he does when he bikes The guy has 90 pounds of equipment on his bike I carry it you have to understand i not committing to riding the bike oh fuck you no we will be behind them maybe we could be on the road maybe we could do some stuff with it oh so me and you don't have to bike we just get to follow i don't know i mean we i'm throwing stuff out i'm just saying i mean because i don't want to i mean let's be honest either like i mean we don't want i'm not gonna die like like you know like if i'm to ride 70 miles in a day like you don't just do that okay at my weight and height and age he's so here's here's eric just no matter what you talk about like he's like you'll be fine and he says it so confidently it's just 10 miles at a time 10 miles stop and beer 10 miles stop and beer okay well then i gotta buy a bike then i gotta buy a bike too i don't have a bike that's a thing but you can you can find like my bike is not super like nice and expensive like it's really nice but It's an older one, and, like, it's great.
00:35:13
I love it. Super light. I don't know. It all depends, though. I like, I've learned I like road bikes. They have thinner tires. You glide a lot easier, I feel like. So, I feel like I better at least do one of these drunken rides before I decide if I want to do this. But, I'm game for that stuff, though. Yeah. I'm game for throwing out a little challenge to see if we get more people to do this. We're going to have so many challenges just from this goddamn podcast because we're going to come up with stupid ideas. I think I like that shit, though. That's. I do, too. I like that stuff. That's how I got into this.
00:35:43
I always said I'd never run. I hate running. It's the dumbest thing ever. I'm like, oh, and then we were talking about this because Erik said it, and this is how I always felt. We were talking about a run. Okay, I have to back up. A couple years ago, I said I would never do a run. Aaron, his wife, talked to me and was like, you're doing the turkey trial with me, and I was post-divorce. I was in this mood where I'm like, I'm not saying no to things. I'm going to do hard shit. You're a yes man. I was a yes man, and I always have been a little bit, but not crazily. I did the turkey trial. It was just a 5K.
00:36:08
It wasn't bad. It was not bad. Then Kara talks to me for my second race doing this thing called the BICs in Davenport. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Seven miles. I've never heard of this fucking thing. Oh, it's like a huge deal. Dude, it's crazy. You go there, and it's like 20, 30, 40,000 people. The whole town basically shuts down. So when I was little, I lived there up until I was like five years old. Really? Yeah. Like I was born here, but then we lived down there. I don't remember it all, but I just remember hearing about the BIC. you know as a kid because we'd have family come in and stay with us all the time because they'd none of my family were runners but they're all down there for the party that was going on the whole thing so yeah anyways good yeah i had no idea and like uh you know karen some of her friends are from there so they've been doing it for years and so they taught me to do it fine i sign up i pay you know 60 bucks or whatever you get a shirt though so it's fine well but okay so that's what I was like, I used to say, but yesterday, damn sure don't even fit.
00:37:07
Right? Maybe one day. It's weird. They didn't have double X for me to pick up. Yeah. I believe Erik said something along the lines of, fuck running. But wait, pay to do something I hate? I'm good. And I was like, that's exactly it. I'm like, what do I get out of this shirt? I'm like, I could buy a lot of shirts for $60. Right, right. You know what I mean? But I did do it. Again, though, what they didn't tell me is, I don't know Davenport well. I signed up for it a week before the race Dude They drove the route and I go Are you out of your fucking mind It's uphill everywhere It's on the water Anything around the water goes like this Instantly They sell you on it's going to be a beautiful view What they don't sell you on is You're going to go like a fucking billy goat The whole thing I think it's Brady Street It's where you start There's so many people you can't even run up it You're walking because there's thousands But at least you're caught in the middle of everybody else walking through.
00:38:01
You are. You are. And then the craziest shit. Man, I would still be running if you get out of my way. You know, like, yeah. That's like I've been sipping my water. The lady's slowing me down. But you hit, like, I think I was at, like, mile two. And all of a sudden you start seeing people coming back. And you're like, are you kidding me right now? Yeah. Because it's such a big race. I mean, I think the winner gets, like, a car. Like, it's a big deal. Yeah. So these guys from, like, Kenya fly in. And they're fucking just booking it. And you never feel like a bigger piece of shit when they start blowing by you.
00:38:33
So I used to be a part of a nonprofit group that, like, put on a marathon. Yeah. Okay, so we used to put this on to raise some money for it. And I remember the first time, the first race that we did, and I was just wandering around helping in different areas, and the winner comes running by. And this guy, I mean, he was, you know, like 6'5", 6'6". He was a big guy, you know what I mean, like that. But he wasn't, like, real skinny, you know what I mean? But he was fit, but I wouldn't call him, like, jacked or whatever. But he ran by on mile 26 and a half. I'm at the finish line. And he runs by it, like, faster than I could run the first starting.
00:39:23
100 meters, you know what I mean? like just striding away, barely breaking a sweat, like barely breathing, just cruises right in. And I'm like, that's one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. Like the top 10 people that passed me, I was like, you're, or that passed by. I'm like, you're unbelievable. You're like unbelievable that you are that fit. Because I watch people running and people have these weird postures and weird runs, you know what I mean? And they talk about how it's so bad for some of your body because of like joints and all this stuff. And this guy just had the smoothest, longest stride that I was like, and he just right by.
00:40:01
Like the wind was just blowing him across. Didn't take any water. I mean, just back through. I got obsessed with ultra marathoners for a while because it just blew my mind. So like I went down this rabbit hole. Like there's a guy named Cameron Haynes and a girl named. Cam Haynes, he's always talked about. They always talk about him on. Yeah, he's a big hunter. They always talk about him on Burt Kreischer and all their podcasts. He's like with Rogan and all that stuff. Yeah, he'll run like 200-mile races. And David Goggins is another one. But there's this girl, like Courtney Detweiler, something like that.
00:40:32
She just, yeah, does 200-mile races. She might stop after 100 miles and sleep for like 20 minutes, and then she just does the other 100. I'm like, normal people's minds can't wrap around that. Well, shout out to the people that do that. I don't have any interest in that. I mean, clearly, like, I mean, like, it'd be pretty sweet to say you could do it, but at the same time. It's a lot. I don't know. Yeah. I think I'd like to be known for a few other things. I love doing it. And I tell my kids this all the time. Like, I always say, like, do hard shit because when it's over, you're so glad you did it.
00:41:10
Well, sure. Does it suck before? Yeah. Does it suck during? Hell yeah. But then when it's over, you're like, I'm still mad at you for making me do this. But in your head, you're like, I'm kind of, I'm kind of, it's kind of cool I did that. I never thought I'd do a 5K, so then do 7. But then Kara went like, okay, so next we're going to do a half marathon. I go, all right, we're done. I was like, 7's good. We don't need to go. Now we're getting out of control. No, I just, yeah. So that's my new limit is 7 miles or less. That's the most I'll do. 7 miles or less. If you like, that's fair. Pretty good.
00:41:41
I bet you halfway. Would be a pretty good podcast, Amy. 7 miles or less. I'm just saying. 7 inches or less. Never mind. Yeah. Seven miles or less. That'd be a good band name. I think, is saying a new podcast name, is that the new term for a band name? Like, forever I was always like, that's a great band name. That's a great band name. I still say that all the time. But now I always say podcast. That's a great podcast name. Mikey and the Tambourines. Yeah. I don't even know where that came from. But, yeah. Not a great one. No, it's not. You slip on here. Yeah, yeah. I'm still, yeah, I'm just, I'm still holding on to the dirty mics thing.
00:42:21
You said something earlier about, I don't know, you were looking at something and I heard them say dirty. They were talking about a drink. Do you remember what it was? Oh, the Dirty Steve or something. Yeah, I was like, it's a random ass name of a drink. But I'm like, poor Steve.
00:42:36
I'll have to find that one. Maybe I can make that one next time. Yeah. As long as I bring the right stuff. My money's not on you doing that. I'm usually good, but I add the booze. I don't have the mixers. I would gladly bring whatever. I brought Guinness today because I still have six left. So it's like, again, it's still packed. I mean, normally we always have, I think we probably have Fresca in the fridge. See, I don't drink, I love it. Well, I mean, we drink it with boot, you know, we mix it in. It's just great, like, for summer. So when we're, like, in the pool and stuff, you know, people come over, we always have Fresca.
00:43:13
Yeah. Just mix is so great with vodka, and it's a great, like, summer. You can add other stuff to it. That makes sense. When do you open your pool? I know, right?
00:43:25
End of April. Yeah, that makes sense. It's heated. It is, but it's expensive as hell around the heater. Is it really? Oh, yeah. It's a noticeable difference. Oh, yeah. Like, if you run it, it is. So we only turn it up. So we still have 100 on our way out. Good to go. Right. So we'll turn it up, or we'll turn it on. But so the mistake that we made when we first moved out there would people use it or whatever and be fine. Like we were out of town one weekend and we had some friends use it. And everyone thinks I'll turn up to 100 and it'll get warmer faster. It only heats one degree an hour. Like that's – it doesn't matter.
00:44:07
Like that's what it takes, right? Whether you have it set at 100 or 85. Well, so the problem is yes, and it hits there and then it's all gone, right? I mean, because we don't have a cover for it that we put on. The only time we have a cover on is when it's closed down. Yeah. We don't have one that, you know, some people have a pool where they put a cover all the time and that holds on the heat more. Not us. So we were gone for one week. Oh, man, this story. I can see the anger building. No, no, it wasn't. It was the anger. It was like, so it was the first week or first year that we had the house, first summer, right?
00:44:41
And so we had the pool. and I remember Ashley's sister and stuff wanted to come up and swim. It was on a Sunday and we were gone all weekend. We were at a wedding or whatever. And we were. And we got after it Saturday at this wedding. Come home Sunday. Little blue in the gills, little hungover. And Ashley's like, hey, my sister, and they want to come up and swim. We need to do that. I'm like, okay, you're right, because they kind of watch the dog and stuff for us. So I'm like, yeah, we can't be hung up. We got to get out there and do it. Yeah. We go outside. Ashley makes it for 15 minutes and then goes back in and lays back down.
00:45:20
I'm like kicking around. I dive in the water. They were up there the night before and left the heater on. I dove in. It was 100 degrees. So I'm expecting to dive into a pool like a little hungover. And I'm like, I come up and I'm like almost like going to get sick because I'm like, my temperature went up, not down. You know what I mean? Like charts. And so I was like, oh, man. And that's when we were like, well, we turned it up because it was lower, and we wanted it to heat up, and then they forgot to shut it off. So then it ran all night at that temperature. Dude, what a shock to your system. But I've done it too many times, too, where I've turned up the heat.
00:45:58
I know, I've done it way too hard. Yeah, I mean, I've turned up the heat and forgot to turn it back down. So you know that. You know, like, the smaller scale. I'm talking about 410 gallons. Yeah, yeah. uh yeah 60,000 or something yeah yeah good god i thought you were like i knew you were gonna say it was hot i wasn't expecting like so once it was like i'm like oh my god you know i mean it was like it was terrible because it was a warm day too and i'm like there was no relief when you not at all not at all like you know you figure you dive in you know okay be all right and shake it off be good to go so but i mean we learned the hard and we like i couldn't be mad at them because we did the same thing multiple times because you're like oh well yeah i don't i cranked it up to 100 i know i don't want it to be 100 but i this will warm up faster yeah when we talk to our people people their pool people they're like it it will not warm up any faster so just that's whatever temperature you want i'm just put it on the there the higher you put it you know it makes It's going to kick up more heat.
00:46:59
They're like, no, it's the heat. Can only do it. It's going to stay on until it hits the number. Yeah. But it doesn't put on more heat to get their fat. You know what I mean? So it's like it just stays on longer. Liquid disperses it. I'm like, it makes sense. I have a thermometer in my freezer that controls the temperature to keep it from freezing. Like it's like a freezer that's a fridge. Yeah. I put it in water. Otherwise, it goes up and down all the time. The water helps to hold it like steady. Oh. Oh. Make it fluctuate. See? There you go. So we learned that. Now that you say it, it totally makes sense.
00:47:33
No, it does. Yeah, but it totally makes sense after you hear it. Yeah. But up until then, you're like, no, crank it up, baby. Let's get this thing up. I love that you had to dive in 100-degree water to find it out. That's so horrible. I mean, it was so bad. Especially hungover. I can't remember. I mean, hot, hungover, going outside hot, going, all right, let's do this. They really helped us out. They watched our house. They watched our dog. It was one of those last, you know, we always fucking forget what we're going to do with Murphy. You know what I mean? So, like, we're getting ready to leave.
00:48:01
Like, who's going to watch Murphy? And we're like, oh, fuck. I mean, so they totally almost out. They wanted to swim the next day. Totally get it. Dive in there. And I'm like, oh, this is terrible. So I, like, sat on the side. Learned a valuable lesson. Thank God it was terrible for everybody else, too. Because they were like, it's hot in here. I'm like, well, at least that was your fault. You just brought something up, though, that, like, I do this all the time. I just did it recently. I love my dog. I have him full time. It's like I share custody or anything. But all of a sudden, like, I'll plan going out.
00:48:28
I always make sure my kids are taken care of. I just forget he exists until, like, three days before. I'm like, oh, fuck. Like, I can't leave you here for three days. Where are you going? And it always works out. But I'm like, I don't know why I don't think of that. We do it all the time. It's weird. All the time. Which now, we go down the lake. Like, we have the place. So now we can take Mervyn. But he's still a pain in the ass to, like, take out and all that stuff. Taking him outside. Yeah, like it's a pain in the butt, like where we're at the bottom of the – Yeah. There's no grass or anything like that.
00:48:56
But, yes, we're the same way. And we will be – we'll have a plan to go for a weekend, whatever we're going to do. And, hey, what are we doing with Murphy? Apparently he's just fine. Yeah. He just, like, looks up like, thanks, Nick. Yeah. We're like, yeah, yeah, yeah. I've thought about it before. Can you imagine if dogs actually understood our words but just couldn't talk back? They're like, you're a real piece of shit. You know that?
00:49:19
You're lucky. I love you. I love you. Otherwise I'd be singing away. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. It just it always bothers me because it'll be like Kara or like whoever I'm going on a trip with like if it was you'd be like, oh, who's watching the start? I'm like, fuck, who is watching the start? Exactly. Well, looks like you are. You're last. Yeah. Congratulations. He's going to stay at your house. Just drop him off on the way out of town. Don't tell him. It's fine. I mean, you could honestly just drop him off down to our lake and he'd be swimming until you got back in. He literally would be in there until I got back. I've never seen that. Did you ever hear a story about his dog?
00:49:50
He's swim for hours. Hours. So we took him, the pool we go to. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So at the end of the season, they let the dogs go in. Yeah. So I pull up. I'm nervous to take him because I'm like, you know, he doesn't like strangers. And he won't bite, but he sounds mean. Dude, he smelled the water before he was even out of the car. He let him out and just bolted into it. Million dogs, million people around him didn't care. Just jumped right in like he was. And everyone was like, who is this dog? He won't get out. I'm like, he's not going to get out. He won't. No, we had to like grab him, like lasso him almost, and pull him out.
00:50:23
It was also cold, so like I wasn't getting in there. Right. Because it's the end of the season. There was like one dude there. He's like, do you want me to grab him? I'm like, he's fine. Right. But everyone just cracking up. They're like, why won't he get out? I'm like, this is literally all he wants to do. When we were out there, and he just swam the whole time. Three hours, I think it was? Straight. Yeah. Like we're like, come on the beach. He came to the beach once. He did once. He's like, you're going to take me home. And he went back, and he never came back. If you step toward him, he's like, they're going to grab me, so I'm not going.
00:50:49
I was like, how can you swim that long? And he just kept moving. So I'm like, he basically ran for three hours. He's one of those Kenyans that finishes the run. Exactly. Yeah, like my dog would probably beat anyone's ass in a swimming contest. Absolutely. Like, no. And it's so stupid, like, the way we got him. Like, I mean, it worked out. But, like, we got him as a Christmas present to our family, right? Sure. You know, almost seven years ago. and did no research. I mean, I worked at Humane Cytos when I was young. I know a lot about dogs and training them. But like, I've never had a lab. I had no idea they liked water somehow.
00:51:25
Really? No So like the first time we had them around water They like bird dogs man Well yeah but I was like I thought they just like running through muck and then grabbing the bird Because he loves being dirty too Sure Which sucks Yeah But no like the minute someone said that I was like oh shit And I felt his paws, and, like, they're all webbed. Like, there's no separation. I'm like, oh, fuck. And the minute he went around the water, it was over. Yeah. I was like, okay, well, this is our life now. Thank God, Murphy fell in our pool. Scared the shit out of him. The first day when we moved in, he fell in.
00:51:55
and literally drops, like, holds like this. No, onto the side. Like, look, Ashley's like, I had to, like, drag him over to the stair to get him out. And he's just, she's like, he's just sitting there. So he has not got in the water. So it's like. He didn't even try to paddle. He just went, like. Well, he, like, slipped and, like, kind of held onto the side. And then it's, like, it's probably better that that happened. Probably. Instead of him, like, oh, okay, I can do this. I mean, he's a. He's a big boy. Well, he's a poodle. He's a. Golden noodle, labradoodle mix. So it's like, he's got a lot of swimming in him.
00:52:27
Yeah. Scared to the death of the water, thank God. So we don't have to worry about it all. That's nice, because, yeah, you can be at the pool, and, like, he's going to come say hi, but he ain't going near the pool. No, and he'll come right up to it, but he's like, if you even try to reach for him, he jumps back like, yeah, yeah. So he's the opposite of Stark. Absolutely, absolutely. So. Yeah, Erik brought Lola to that dog swim, and she didn't like it. I chucked her in. He chucked her in. He knew she could swim, but it was like, she's like, fuck you, out, right out. And avoided everyone after that.
00:52:56
Like, it was so funny. There was a few dogs there. I mean, it was mostly labs. That was the funny thing. But even the other labs, like, they would swim, and then they wanted to get out and just see the other dogs. So, like, that and, like, Golden Retrievers, I know, are, like, big at it. Like, to the point to where, like, they'll be just a puddle, and they'll lay in it. Yeah. Starts the same way. You'll walk. Yeah. He sees a puddle. Even if it does nothing for him, they'll just lay in the puddle. Yeah. Because my son's even said, like, let's just get him, like, one of those horse troughs. Like, we can, but he wants to swim, right?
00:53:22
Sure. the tub all the time he's lived in the tub since you're the puppy he's scared he goes to the tub but you'll hear him in the middle of the night he's an alien man scratches because he acts like he's swimming i'm like there's no water in there dude you're just being annoying so i have to kick him out of the bathroom it's a lot so that's a lot so when people are like well i think you have another dog i'm like well we'll see after you know one day that he's a lot i'm glad we got him because he'd be a lot for somebody else like yeah for the wrong person for the wrong person We deal with a lot.
00:53:52
For the majority. Actually, for the majority of people. You're the right person to have. We are each other's emotional support. Yes, that's very good. It works out well. Yeah. Murphy. Yeah, we hit the home run with Murphy. He just. He's just the best. He just. You guys just have great luck with dogs, though. Well, for our family. Yeah. Yeah. Between him and Wrigley. Yeah. I mean, like, I always think of that with dogs because it's a crap shoot. It is. It really is, yeah. I'm like, you know, like, they can be. They can suck. I've had terrible luck. And again, I love my dog, but like, I can't take my dog out in public.
00:54:24
He doesn't, he just doesn't like it. He's too anxious. He gets scared of everyone and everything. And he sounds mean. I want a dog where I can just take him everywhere. And he literally is with me attached to my head. And he's just not that dog. And that's fine. But everyone just thinks they're going to get that dog. That's not every dog. Well, and I will say Ashley spent a lot of time training. Well, our first dog, Ashley spent a ton of time. Yeah. And then sometimes I just think that – our first dog was Wrigley, and then Murphy, I just think it's Wrigley reincarnated. It does seem like that. It's a different name.
00:54:56
One was white, one was brown. Yeah, but they're very much like the same. Like, have you ever seen – what is it, The Dog's Life? Have you ever seen that where it's like the dog just kind of – Nope, you know what? I don't watch things where it's sad about animals. But this is a good one because then he finds the family again. Like, he dies, and then he comes back as another dog. But I have to watch the death, Shaun. No, they know it. The family knows it. And they're like, is that you? Like sometimes I've grabbed Murphy for him. Like, are you Wrigley? Are you in there? But then you have those little dog buttons and he's like, fuck you.
00:55:25
Bitch. Bitch. Fuck you. Kill that dog. Kill that dog. There's that girl on like TikTok or something that has like a cow. And it's got like, I don't know if you've ever seen her. But she has like these buttons and they all say something. I mean, I've seen those with dogs. They're with the cow. Dance with me, honey. And like she does that. So she just picked the dog or the pig up and like dance with it. And it loves it. And that puts me down like and it says like food and she's like I'm cooking like you have to wait It's like food food and eventually like she which much like bitch bitch bitch bitch like dude that pig knows what these fucking buttons mean Okay, I do need you to clarify because we started with a cow Instead of dog and then he said a pig so we're it's a pig. Okay. Yeah, I'm not good at it I mean I was going down this with you and like maybe like you know it's whatever you want it to be It's still fun no matter what But it's great Oh, that's hilarious.
00:56:15
So, you pulled a real dick move. If this is the movie thing, this is not my fault. It is. I suggested a movie. This is not my fault. And I put like a big, I was like, you're going to love this movie. Like, I know you that you're going to love it. Now I don't even think I want you to watch it. Fuck you. I'm watching it. Now it's not up to you anymore, dick. So, I was going to watch it. I know I'm going to love it. we got home that night and we turned it on and i hate that i have to keep calling her out but cara was like i'm just not in the mood for this she's like we need to watch something else i was like all right whatever and then i think we turned on like one of our smut shows like some dating you know that's blonde or something and she passed out and i so i just went to bed but it's on my list i literally have on my list i'm going to watch it so the movie is 25th hour it's like a sleeping giant it's like a great movie it's about a dog because that's what god is talking well because Because I said that the dog that's in Doyle is the dog.
00:57:12
It's awesome and you're going to like it. But we were somewhere and we saw a dog. That's what some guy was talking about. Is it Edward Norton, you said? Yeah, it's Edward Norton. And I love him. And it's so good. It came out right around 9-11. That's why all of a sudden it was in theaters and nobody saw it. You know what I mean? But it is great stuff. What's weird to me is I've never heard of it. I know, but of course it was Didier that turned me on to it because he knew every movie. That guy turned me on to so many movies. Yeah, so he's the one who turned me on to it. One of my top five favorite movies of all time, no one even knows it usually, is Pool Hall Junkies.
00:57:51
It is one of the greatest movies. So good. So good. It's so great. Confused Breakfast, can we do Pool Hall Junkies? Yeah, have they never done that one? I don't know. Oh, God. They should. I'm sure they probably have. And I'm not a pool shark, you know what I mean? I played a lot when I was younger but everybody's played pool right like whether you're good or not like you've all kicked it like the actors were great there's some big names like fucking Christopher Walken but I mean Christopher Walken then it's so it's like yeah that main guy I think that might have been the biggest role He ever had I might be wrong. I don't know but what he's done since then when I remember he kind of looks like a poor man's Ben Affleck yeah like almost like a yeah like from Resilver Dogs almost like Lars Callahan yes yeah yeah exactly he's great he's really good in it there's so many one-liners in that movie I still say to this day like I mean I put up I don't spoil anything so I'm not even saying it but it's so good yeah and like when I are you spoiling anything like at this point probably not like I remember so this is a funny story okay alright I'm gonna jump in yeah alright so um we start watching the sopranos like years after the sopranos over like i'd i'd watch a bunch of it and then stop watch it you know i mean got to a certain season and then we were broke then i think by that time when it came out again we couldn't afford hbo so it was like you know i mean like depending on where we're at you know it actually never had hbo or anything like that so we finally to get it and we start watching you know the sopranos over like over and over again or running
00:59:28
the seasons of it and by this time sopranos have been canceled for 10 years or over and right before we get to the episode of adriana getting killed dude spoiler alert my cousin ben tells me that are you serious we're over there we're talking about it that like watch it and i'm like it's you know catching ashley up loving it blah blah and ben goes i can't believe when adriana dies like And Ashley goes, and Ben gets this look on his face like, oh my god. And then he goes, fuck you. You had 10 years to watch it. You had 10 years to watch it. He's like, it's not my fault. That's true. And literally, I looked at him, and Ashley's like, I can't even be mad at him for that.
01:00:06
Because you're right. I had 10 years. 10 years. I had so long to watch it. But it was the next episode we were about to watch. That's so bad. It was so weird timing and so one of those things. See, TJ. Pool Junkies has been out long enough. Way long. Yeah. TJ did that to me and Dexter. He spoiled probably one of the biggest deaths in the show. But it had only been out for like six months. So I was like, you're still a dick. I got you. You should have given me a year. Just ask people where they're at. Like, where are you at? Right? Well, I feel like that's more common now, right? Because you stream a lot more things.
01:00:37
That's true. Like, we were buying DVDs or we were renting. I think maybe I borrowed from you or somebody who ever had them. I gave them all Sopranos. You had them or somebody else did and I borrowed them from you. Like, we were plugging in DVDs, you know, doing it that way. It was not streaming. And I started to say that when I got rid of all my DVDs, which, by the way, I just did, like, three years ago. I just had – I was finally, like, I have not touched these in I don't know how long. But I saved, like, five, and Pool Hall Junkies was one of them. Because I'm like, I don't know – I've never seen it on DVD anywhere.
01:01:05
Like, I had to, like, specially order it to even get it. So I was like – It's such a good – So, anybody that hasn't seen that. There's parts of that movie, like, there's this guy. He's like – it's just random things. Like, they're at a party or whatever, and this guy's talking about how, like, girls always freak him out. And then he meets this nice girl, and they're in bed. And all of a sudden she like drags his hand to her throat and he's like just pulls it away And she does again she goes choke me and he goes what? She goes choke me I like it and he goes oh god And he like runs away where it's like that doesn't turn a lot of people off But this guy was like that was like don't do that to him Like at one point in the movie he's talking about like no everything was going great And then I saw stuffed animals on her bed and I just can't get over that And they're like that's the turn off?
01:01:40
That's where it's at It's dude it's such a good movie It's a great movie Like I'm gonna put it back on my list just because it's been like two years since I've seen it Yes I think I'm gonna do that Also, every time it gets over there, you're like, I want to go play pool. Right. But then you play a game and you're like, I suck. Terrible. Not happening. It's like when Fast and the Furious came out and everyone got in their cars at the theater and pulled out in their shitty cars, thinking they were badasses. And then they got home and they're like, that was pretty stupid.
01:02:07
So I have been training Cooper for this stuff. So we got the dart board, so he knows how to throw darts. Then we got the pool table, so I've been teaching him. So he has his buddies over. and there's only like two other kids in this class that have pool tables. Oh, shit. So they're the ones that compete. Otherwise, they've got it going on. I'm like, you're just going to need to know these things for college. There's going to be a dartboard, and there'll be a dartboard at whatever house you're in, and there'll be a pool table at all the bars that you're going to go to, and that's where you'll first start out.
01:02:38
You know what I mean? I mean, is foosball still a thing? I was never a foosball player. I'm so terrible at it. Like, the people that can spin that stuff. Oh, yeah. Were you good at it? Could you do that? Adam was really good at it. I had a... My buddy could... Garrett could finesse it. And then all of a sudden he's like, Blam! And all of a sudden you're like... You can't even see it. I was so bad versus him that it wasn't fun to play. Well, that's the same thing. He would try to talk me into playing. I'm like, I'm good. I already feel defeated today. I don't need to do that. Yeah. Yeah. We had a great college house that had...
01:03:14
And so the basement was unfinished. Which is the best way when you're in college. And so we painted it. Like we painted the floor. We did like that garage paint, you know, like that stuff on it. And then we had this huge rug that we bought some carpet remnants for this one area. We had a bar built with a table where you could hold six people, play poker. We had a dartboard. And then in the other room, we put, I had a ping pong table. like just a legit standalone ping pong table where we would do ping pong. And then at night it turned into a flippy cup table. Oh yeah. So we would have this, we'd have, it was a perfect party house.
01:03:52
It was, it was absolutely perfect. Then around the corner was like where our washer and dryer were and cement floor where the keg would sit. So then as the water and shit, you could spill it and just go right down the drain. Like literally we'd hose it out the next morning. Like it was amazing. It was the best college party house ever. Here's how I know I'll always be a child at heart. I want to go there right now. I do too. Like, I've driven by it before going, I would like to buy that. I would like to buy that just to, like, yeah. That's the thing. I'll always enjoy, like, those games. Like, just, like, the camaraderie.
01:04:27
Like, you know, like, we're doing a Bar Olympics soon. Hazards or whatever. They do it, like, every couple months. But it's, like, it's just for fun. Who's doing that? it it was before how we doing here you know when you're the guy left out do you find out anyway for next time we'll let you know what a dick what a dick this was done before we started the podcast it literally it'll come out like three months so what are the olympics so the last one we did was it was darts yep i'm amazing to that flippy cup amazing to that beard pong awesome with that no you're not uh he's right guys i know see i got them uh bags and shuffleboard but the shuffleboard is weird because it's like oh and hook and ring you know the oh which it's a little one though it's honestly it was harder than i thought it was going to be until you kind of get the move down but the shuffleboard sucks because it's it's a very short it's not like eric's table it's like yeah it's almost like the size it's shorter than yours because yours is and yours is the one of the shorter ones.
01:05:31
It's like half the size of this counter round. Because they have to pull out multiple ones so multiple teams can play. I understand it. So how do we sign up for this? Or how do I sign up? I guess I've got to find a partner. Well, it's like, you can be on our team next. No, I don't want to be on our team.
01:05:46
I'm assuming there's two people. No, it's four. Oh, god damn. You have to have at least one girl on your team. Yeah, at least one girl. Who are we doing it with this next time? Me, Kara, and Haley. Yeah, because Zach wanted to sit out this one. Yeah, so.
01:06:03
If Ailey wants out, then. Doesn't hurt at all, guys. Doesn't hurt at all. I can tell. I love you. Say it back. This podcast has gotten awkward. Say it back. Say it. Look me in the eyes and say it. Hey, I do love you, and I don't blame you. I know this started before. It was before. So I'm totally good with it. I just, that sounds amazing. No, it's okay. I had wanted to do it for years, but it fills up, like, really fast. What is it, too? We'll probably be in the thick of baseball that weekend. What is it? Yeah, we'll be. And I think they only do one like every two months. Every six months. There's another one in the fall.
01:06:37
It's that spaced out. Oh, wow. So, yeah. But the ones previous, they've always filled up like literally in two days. And this last time we were able to get in. And then this time, I think we were the last ones to get in. Okay. Or something like that. Yeah, it's fun, though. It's a whole day. Where are we at on time?
01:06:55
Time for. Time for a dad joke? I think so. Yeah, we can do a dad joke. Did you run this one? Well, I just... Yeah, so this one is Erin approved, and she loves her dad joke. She loves her dad joke. Okay. So my wife told me to stop impersonating a flamingo, so I put my foot down. Jesus Christ. They're so stupid, and I love them. It's so dumb. I don't get... My mind is... For some reason, we just said I just saw pink. Yeah. It was a flamingo. I don't know. I was like, hey, for sure. Yeah, I don't know. Like, what am I going to do? That's all I did. Putting the leg down. Putting the leg down. But I know, like, a true, like, dad lover, like, dad joke lover will...
01:07:40
I just said... They got to marinate. Dad lover. Yeah. But, like, they just diet these. So I'm like, run it by Aaron. It'll always be the cheesiest one that she picks. Yeah, that's her thing. Yeah. She's always loved them. I mean, the truth is, he's down here giggling at like three that he was picking up. He goes up there, she goes, she only laughed at one of them. Yeah, we had played with starting at giggling, we were just giggling at school, we were like, what's going on? He's like, dad jokes. We're like, what, what? Dad jokes, so. All right, well, I think we survived another little bit. We got some good stuff coming up with our brackets, so.
01:08:10
I'm excited, I really am. We do, we do. I'm not going to like download programs. Shots of Jose Cuervo on the line. We got some other interesting ideas coming up, too. We haven't talked about the beer tower thing, but I think that's a cool possibility. Yeah, yeah. There's going to be some fun stuff coming up. I think the road is long here, fellas. Oh.
01:08:32
Beer Olympics may start this basement here real quick. It's about to happen. A boy can dream. All right, until next time. All right, we'll see you guys.
