Welcome to We're Still Cool, Right? The weekly podcast where the conversation flows smoother than top-shelf whiskey. And cool, well, it never really left. Grab a drink and hang out with Erik, Mike, and Shaun while they dive into nostalgia and attempt to answer the age-old question. We're still cool, right?
00:00:30
And with that the 2025 season comes to an end comes to an end oh man Happy New Year Happy New Year's Eve that too yeah Before the horse come on come on we got to get through the part the party's New Year's Eve I know New Year's Day is the wait painful it the party's here right now. What are you talking? I'm ready for it spread We got a good spread as we do according to Mike or Mike's comment here as we come to the end of season number one it is our final episode for it here. So with that being said, my name is Shaun. I'm Mike. And I'm Erik. And this is the We're Still Cool Right podcast. End of season one. Wow.
00:01:10
We're retiring, right? That's something. That's something. We're going to make a comeback pretty quick, though. We've got to do at least one episode in the second season. That's true. We're going to play baseball like Jordan did, and then we'll be back. They always come back. Tell you what, boys, it was quite the accomplishment here to get to the end of the full season. I know. It's a lot of episodes, man. It is. You know, like this is 40 something. Yeah. It's a lot. It's just been a ton of fun. It's been so much fun. It's so much fun. Okay, let's not retire. Let's keep doing it. I say we keep going.
00:01:39
Who's in? Who's in? Yeah, but yeah, it's New Year's Eve. It is New Year's Eve. When you're listening to this. And we got a cocktail in front of us. And so, boys, we went fancy. This was. From the glass to the drink in it. This was not our normal. This is It's called the BDC The best damn cocktail Is what it's called Perfect for New Year's Eve We'll see if it tastes good It looks like a million bucks It's got two shots of vodka in it It's got some lime juice Orange bitters And some pomegranate Cranberry juice And you pour it into a martini glass So happy New Year's Eve boys here's the bdc sponsored by ben's that's right of the week yeah shout out to ben's thank you for the drink to them for this so oh boy yeah it's pretty good i thought i i was gonna be honest i thought i would taste the vodka more just because there's two shots in it yeah but no it's good it's not bad the lime comes through a lot i don't know why i thought it was gonna be sweeter maybe because it's pink i think that's what it was yeah because i thought the same thing it's just but it's good yeah i wonder if like the you know different pomegranate juice might make it sweet yeah or whatever yeah i look for that real fancy shit yeah the palm stuff they say that that's the one to do because then it doesn't have any of the extra sugar in it it's just straight so then you don't get any of the hangover but i was you know coming in here on fire and i looked in a bunch of
00:03:09
places and i'm like where is it um we found out we're using the three martini glasses we could put together between us right yeah by the way i did find one i have one i don't know why and it's red. I don't know why. It was like in the back of my liquor area. It's probably been there since I moved into my house. So it's, I don't know, 12, 13 years old. Just a layer of dust on it. Oh, I'll be honest, I didn't even grab it out. I was like, I don't have three of them. So with that being said, that is our text chain for the day, too, of trying to figure out, hey, guys, I got a good one here. Does anybody got these glasses? Anybody got this stuff?
00:03:41
Erik came through with the glasses. Shaun made the drink. It's fantastic. And then Benz came through with supplying it for us. So cheers to them. Shout out to Benz. And we went with High Life's today because it is the champagne of beers. Champagne of beers. It just feels like the right thing to drink today. But you churched it up here. So what are these? Yeah, we made them spaghetes. Spaghetes, that's right. Aperol. We've done this on the podcast before. They're so good. Yeah, just drink down about one big glug and then pour Aperol into it and let it sit. Gives a fancy color, a little bit of sweetness.
00:04:13
So good. It's good. It is good. I mean, I feel fancy as fuck. I feel like we just need a spread of roast beef and maybe some prime rib. A pig with an apple in its mouth. Speaking of that, do you guys do beef wellington? I know what it is, and I've seen it. I don't think I've had it. Have you? So I've had it before at a place. I've never done beef wellington myself, but I've done what's called... So do you guys remember the bacon explosion? I know. That was a big thing. I know what you made. I did a bacon explosion Wellington. So I did a bacon explosion wrapped in biscuits and eggs and cheese. Oh, wait.
00:04:52
Oh, okay. I was thinking of just the meat one. Well, I did both. Yeah. But like one time for a tailgate, like we needed a breakfast food. And I was like, well, what about a bacon explosion without the barbecue sauce? Yeah. And then wrap it in eggs and cheese and biscuits. How did it turn out? Phenomenal. Yeah. I mean, it's sausage and bacon. Yeah. You know, you just season it a little differently and don't put barbecue sauce. It's just like a breakfast explosion. Yeah. Yeah. It was amazing. But if you wanted to go with, you know, the pastry, you could have put pancake around the outside. It's true.
00:05:23
Anyways, I've just heard, you know, that this is kind of the popular time of the year. You know, get the old beef only to know. It's cool. This sounds old, but like you watch cooking shows and you're like, well, that is damn impressive. The way they make that. Like the latticed like dough that they made, like they coated in and oh man, it looks awesome. Gordon Ramsay's big on the beef wellingtons Is that his thing? Hell's Kitchen, they always screw up the Wellingtons God, I love him I love him getting mad I get nervous just to look at a recipe from him because I'm like, he's going to yell at me I'll say this, he changed the way I make eggs I only make eggs like his way now and my kids love them With the old creme fraiche and the chopsticks Oh, no folds it in i love that i like the videos of people doing that i i feel like it would drive me crazy i'd get so pissed because i know it's like you have to master it sure have you seen that no i can't remember the name of it it's a it's a japanese dish i think but it's like they make a boat of rice and that's on the plate and then you basically have scrambled egg but you're stirring it constantly and then you slowly fold it over so that the inside is completely liquid almost.
00:06:36
And then the outside is not. And so you lay it over the rice and then you just slide a knife down the middle and it unfolds on top of the rice. I'll show you. It looks so good. Yeah. Something we can't do. To say the least. It's not for your weekend warrior here. Yeah. Yeah. A little bit bigger. I was like, Gordon would hate the way I cook eggs, but everybody in my house loves it. Yeah. His big thing with cooking eggs is just they overcook so fast. And so it's like it's on the heat off the heat on the heat off the it's annoying as shit especially when you're like really hungry but it's worth it so i i want to i do want to try that at some point but like for me i his whole thing when i saw somebody doing it on one of these home cooking shows yeah he said something like that and it's you know that they're folding it when it's not cooked he's like how do you know that it's all getting cooked i'm like because i can tell like i you know i'm chopping them up and i know that it gets cooked oh yeah yeah yeah and also like i mean it's eggs they don't have to be done done like like mine are kind of liquidy and that's why some people probably wouldn't like it but man it was a game changer for me oh so good i mean look at rocky right we still got to do our tuna casserole cook off now we need to cook off i forgot about that dude i would totally do an egg cook off i can't beat my eggs yeah yeah that sounded weird you guys i don't know no edit that out trust you on that trust you on that come here big boy beat these eggs So, I got to ask you guys.
00:08:04
Did you guys check out the Paul fight? Oh, with Anthony Joshua. He got in an accident today. Yeah. Did you see that? I mean, get that. Anthony Joshua did. Yeah, he got it. So, he beat up Jake Paul last week. And then, where were they? Like, Nigeria or something? Yeah, like, wherever. I guess, I don't know. But he got in an accident. He has, like, minor injuries, I think. Yeah, but two or three people died. Yeah. I was like, what the fuck? Yeah. That's crazy. But anyways, I saw some stats from how much Jake Paul made. Oh, I don't want to hear this. So he boxed for 989 seconds, which breaks down to $93,023 per second is what he made.
00:08:52
So just over $93,000 a second. He got paid $5.58 million per minute. and made $15 million per round for a grand total of $92 million. What the fuck? So here's the question. Would you let somebody punch you and bust your jaw in two fucking places for $92 million? Yes. Yep. Well, I don't think we've ever agreed and answered that fast in the history of this podcast.
00:09:23
How about for $92,000? No. No. I mean, assuming all medical bills are paid. Tax-free. Oh, medical bills are paid. That's a different... Right? Tax-free? 92 grand after that. 92 grand after that. So that's what I was going to say. What's your number? Uncle Sam doesn't know about it. Your jaw is broken. That only lasts a couple months. I don't know if there's anything that would be much worse. Yeah, a broken jaw will really mess you up, though. Yeah, especially if you have to have it wired shut. That's real bad. Oh, that might be a good way for me to lose some weight. It does do that. I've seen. I've heard of that.
00:09:57
Because you can't eat. You know what, though? I fucking love soup. I'll be alright. I can drink a lot of broth. I had a buddy that had to have his jaw wired shut and stuff from I think it was a snowboarding accident. Really? Kanye did it. That song, Through the Wire, which is one of my favorite songs. By the way, I know he's fucking batshit crazy, but that's an old song. Yeah, his mouth was like wired shut. That's why he called it that. 92 million. That's fucking crazy. I mean, hey, after taxes, it's not them. Did you watch the fight? Yeah. Oh. I didn't watch it live. I immediately, it ended, and I started seeing the post, and I went and found it and watched it.
00:10:38
Yeah, Cooper and I were watching it. Anthony Joshua looked twice the size of it. Yeah, and then when he got out, it was just unbelievable. But you know what? It is great. He finally fought a boxer that's not over the hill. Yeah. And it didn't go his way. But you know what? I don't think he's mad about it. Well, I don't think he was supposed to. You know what I mean? I mean, he's a big dude in every... And he's good. He was outmanned in every way. Yeah. You know what I mean? And you know, I will give that guy credit, man. He got the shit kicked out of him. He broke his jaw. He was still smiling at the end of it.
00:11:07
And I graded knowing he got $92 million. It helps. It helps. But still, that was crazy. That's hard to... Yeah. That ain't nothing. No. I mean, that's a good question, though. $92 million. I fucking find me someone that says no to that, and I'll slap the shit out of him. $90 million. $90 million. Dude exactly 92,000 it's the whole and I think we've brought this up before but those were like my favorite tick tocks going on for a long time Back in the day where it was like you go to your wife, and you're like would you hit me for a billion on these like a billion? I will run you over with my car and then I'll go back forward just to make sure I did the job I would smack you in front of your mother We'll hit you the cinder block in church So yeah, you would have problems get me off of you That's so much money, man.
00:11:58
That was so good. Well, and then like, so last episode we talked about the Powerball. So like I bought a couple tickets and it hit a single fucking number, by the way. But some guy won it all by himself. And they said after taxes, because I think it was 1.6. I think he's going to get around like $800 million or something like that. So at my work, they did like a pool. Yeah. Or like everyone pulled their money together to get some. And I was out sick. So I'd missed the email. and I was looking at it today and I'm like how bad would that have fucking sucked for me to like come back today of my email where is everybody oh they all fucking won the Powerball and you weren't here to throw in your money hey I bet you'd get a promotion you'd be the only one still working there I'm kidding I'm doing every responsibility I don't know that I want that so when our friends like go in on it which we've done just a couple times but like that's why I do it I'm gonna be honest cause I'm like we're not gonna win but I'm like if you fuckers win and I don't I'm gonna be hot I'll pay that $10 tax to not be the guy that lost.
00:12:55
Yep, exactly. No, I was buying lottery tickets for, like, we always do them as stocking stuffers. Sure, yeah, same. But you do, like, the scratchers, right? Yeah, scratchers, yeah. But, well, I'm standing at the machine at Hy-Vee. Have you used those things? It's like a vending machine for lottery tickets? No, I've seen them, but I've never used them. It's a touchscreen, and you just fucking do all the shit, you know, swipe your debit card, and it spits it all out. And it pumps everything out for you? Yeah. i don't know how it checked that i was of age to get so that's the thing yeah because they'd like supposedly it does but i i knew someone that used one and they were like yeah i didn't even do anything with id or anything i didn't even see a camera that's like trying to identify me i was like what that's so weird but there has to be either way and they're super convenient yeah whatever they're for it and then but i bought a powerball while i was doing it because i was like sure did you win no oh damn okay i did with that scratcher you got us in there you know a whole lot at nothing you know what did you run on your scratcher so i put i bought two of the same for everyone so one of one and one of another for everybody in my family yeah i want on both of mine oh my god i just randomly put them in the stockings but i want them both of mine aaron hasn't scratched her so i don't know if that's a winner but the kids kind of like busted out there was one three dollar winner among them that's the thing was that on christmas she's held on to a scratcher that long? Sometimes she's just not in the mood. No, that's the thing.
00:14:21
I've met a lot of people like that. They're like, they haven't sitting there for like weeks. I'm like, I'm going to scratch that if you keep... We can't even get out of the parking lot and Ashley is like... Like, Ashley loves it. Like, one of the best gifts I can get her is just bring home scratcher. Like, I got you a scratcher. That's awesome. Like, it is better than like flowers or anything if I'm just like, I love your little $10 scratcher for you. Like, she is just like, oh. That's awesome. Did you do your scratcher that I got you when you got iced? Yeah. Did you win? No. You guys suck. I was hoping you guys want to. Like that one I brought home and let Ashley do it because of how much she likes to do it.
00:14:51
Oh, really? I rarely do it myself. I'll bring them home and let her do them because she loves them. Aaron always likes doing the crosswords, so she likes to take her time with it. I do the bingo ones, but then they take for fucking ever and then I never win. That's part of the fun, though, because I remember grabbing them and kind of liking them. I worked at a security guard at a guard shack type thing, and you'd sit there all the time, so I'd get them and then take forever, and I'd do it, so it was all slow and dramatic. you remember what so and i this is when me you chris and diddy are always hung out what diddy would do i never knew you could even do it what where he would buy him and he would just scratch the the oh yeah scan he never played him he just was like see if this is a winner and they're like no he's like all right he walked out i'm like why would you do that yeah that's all that's half the fun is scratching it off and he just wanted to know if you won or not well i didn't know you could do that until i saw him do that doesn't seem anywhere near as much fun now so i have something interesting that we got as a gift for christmas for the show that's just like playing the lottery so here we go i don't know if that's good or bad here's what i'm loving i don't win the lottery i'm not gonna lie i fucking love the gifts i love that so far it feels like every episode we're getting some new gifts because i'm so fucking excited for this one all right so we have a game that was gifted to us by my sister-in-law called shot roulette shot roulette i can guess how we play that so i filled this up with some shots all six are full of shots they're all shots
00:16:23
oh so it's not even like the water technically one of these is not alcohol but it's not water can you just can you describe it for listeners like what are we what are we looking at yeah good So there's six shots in here, and they're in black cups. And so you can't really tell what the liquid is. You can see that there's liquid there, but you can't tell what it is. And then you spin it and then whatever shot lands in front of you you take You can play this with all water in one shot You can play it with all shots we gonna do all shots so shocker um but i will what i will tell you guys the fun part of this game is going to be there are three fun ones and there are three not so fun ones i guarantee you in there for nets and that's in there do we have rumblements here no because okay good because that would be in there for sure um i will say i tried to do uh what's it called the one we really like that's like butterscotchy oh shanky's with shanky's and we couldn't get the bottle open because it's like yeah so the sugar's like crystallized i tried to get it too it's it's not budging oh shit yeah really yeah that's so yeah that would have been one of the fun ones but i had to replace it with something else yeah i like that stuff it's fucking delicious all right who wants to go first you want me to go first all right yeah and we don't want to spin it too hard to not like spin it super hard so which one is yeah and it kind of bounces all right here we go and you're supposed
00:17:54
to like not reveal whether it's good or bad because i really want to know this is going to work so yeah if you're doing this at home the probably real way to play it is just five shots of water all right and if you do it that way i feel like you have to put the shot something bad like i mean it's not supposed to be good yeah right so it's you know all right here we go i thought it would have like a like a like an arrow point oh shit i think you get dealer's choice on that i think it's the one to the right all right yeah it did kind of end that's kind of what i did is it just come on malort although he likes malort so this this actually would be bad for him so who who got us this um so my sister-in-law katie got this thank you katie I think I don't know if I don't know what I'm thinking Let's reserve judgment Hold on that wasn't You can give her a pretty decent I didn't want the liquid to go flying out It's not too full Well there you go Come on my lord Just do it If you guys can see Mike's face I don't even know what that is Mine was the non-alcoholic one Okay, so it was cranberry juice.
00:19:09
Cranberry juice. You lucky bastard. I got the Malort, just so you know. I figured by the look on your face. Don't put them back, because there's three left. Okay, so I'm pretty sure I know what you got. Actually, it might be Fernet. Do you guys want to just finish them out, or do it later? Okay. No, come on. I mean, yeah, I think Logan needs one. Let's do this, maybe. I don't know. Come on. I think that's good. We're all right. Where's your adventure? All right, here we go. You could get Malort. it's the gift that keeps on giving for the next 30 minutes so alright this last one's yours well I guess I don't have to fucking spin it yeah Mike doesn't have to spin so I followed this guy on TikTok who had a Malort advent calendar you seen that?
00:19:48
I saw the advent calendars and like three people messaged us and was like you guys need this and I'm like no the fuck we don't but wasn't it just all Malort like there wasn't anything different it was just a Malort every day yeah I know exactly what for net no yeah it's gotta be no it's not oh oh that was good was that aperol was that one of them no what was in it okay so we had strawberry rum that was this okay that's fucking good we had cranberry juice we had um oh i know what you got it's like whiskey yeah that's that's well or 12. you lucky bastard well it's good but that one in the shot and you had it after cranberry juice it's not like um so yeah cranberry juice well or 12 um i put so this this is disappointing i kind of there's a liquor called italicus that i really like that's made with bergamot and i put that in there but that's the one i got at the end so oh really i was hoping one of you guys would get it so i could see if you liked it or not was Fournette and Mallor in there? Both of them that you wanted to get. Okay, so I had the first one was Fournette. Who had Mallor?
00:21:00
I had Mallor. Oh, thank God. Okay, good. I can see from the look on his face. I was trying to keep a straight face, but that went better than it could have for me. In my head, I'm going, shit. I wouldn't mind having it, or of course I love it when you get it. And as you guys could tell, I mean, I didn't do like giant shots. Thank you. We're on a podcast. We need to keep our shit together. yeah that takes the rams is that the rules for this relatively with the well or two like there's something about not seeing what you're about to put oh yeah it's like when when a surprise thing hits you in the mouth even if it's good yep you're still like oh well you gotta be ready for whiskey right it's just like right even if you like like i like it so like even you still gotta be like i'm having whiskey like right so when you just take it you're like oh with with good whiskey too it's the second drink that is way better yeah yeah your first one's like oh yeah i got whiskey yeah it wakes your palate up the first one yeah well that was fun thanks katie that's awesome we do love these gifts even though uh they just make us drink more but you know whatever hey it's a holiday so it's not our fault we had to it was a gift it'd be rude not to it that's true play the game so with that being said thanks katie thank you yeah so um go ahead still cool i was gonna say You want me to kick it off?
00:22:18
Yeah. What do you got here for us? Obviously, it's New Year's Eve, so I was thinking about it. And I'm like, I never really did a lot of these, but I do remember doing it a couple times. I still don't know if they were ever cool, but we need to ask it because of the date it is. But are New Year's resolutions still cool? Or are they even still a thing? I don't hear anyone these days say, like, my New Year's resolution is this. I feel like you do that when you're younger and you're in age. You're like, fuck, I don't give a shit. Yeah. I think they're still popular. Or they definitely were. They were.
00:22:47
cooler you know i mean we we kind of blur those lines a little bit so i would say it was popular to do it so i would say it was cool you know to do it um i feel like they're always the same thing though well that's that's the thing you know then other people then you know as influencers and everyone else got on board then it's like just be a man that can do it and stop making your resolution that you're not right which i get it yeah i understand i mean that's kind of what i've always thought was going to be that i was going to lose weight for the last you know fucking 15 40 fucking years and it hasn't you know it's usually always wait yeah sometimes it's like i'm i'm not or i'm gonna do dry january or something like that or if you're a smoker you know there's not a lot of those now but it's i had those for a while back in the day when i was smoking i'd be like well january one yep and then it was halfway through january one normally january one i was so hungover i didn't want one it was january 2nd i was like oh solid point yeah i i always said Like I, I thought they were kind of bullshit because it's just something that you're going to try and do for a period.
00:23:46
And then you break it because you just like get frustrated and give up. So to me, it's like, why don't you just say like, I'm going to lose weight. It has nothing to do with new year's, you know? True. Yeah. I think the reason that they exist in my mind is because everybody goes into the holidays kind of like, I'm chilling, I'm on vacation, I'm relaxing, I'm eating all this like disgusting amount of food and family things. Because you have 18 Christmases to go to and they all have great food and candy and whatever else. And then you get out of this and you're like, oh, January 1, I got to stop doing all that shit and get back to trying to do something.
00:24:23
So I think there's the people that use it as a good restart. Then I think there's the people that use it as an excuse. Well, I can fucking eat like garbage for the next two weeks because in January, you know, I'm getting serious about it. You know what they say? This means I can just be a fucking pig. But that's why I think, so to me, this is how I feel about New Year's resolutions. It's the same as religion or whatever else. If it works for you and it helps you, awesome. Sure. It's great. If it doesn't, don't fucking do it. Don't make a commitment to say, I'm going to do this. And then just. Especially when you know in the back of your head, you're not going to keep it.
00:25:02
You're just going to be disappointed when you give up. That's sad. Yeah, I agree. That's a good way to say it, though. I say the same thing about religion. So, yeah, it's like if it makes you be a better person or like you need that, knock yourself out. I'm here for you. But otherwise, I don't know what you're doing. Just do it anyway. Yeah. So have you ever made? Did you ever make them? Yeah. But it was it was the same shit I said. It was like, I'm going to really hit it hard and lose. Yeah. You know, I'm going to, you know, and it's just like get fucking ripped. I'm going to have a six pack by February.
00:25:29
Oh, you know, it would be fun. Anybody that's out there listening, if you have like finished a New Year's resolution. Oh, yeah. Did it. Send it to us. So I tell us on socials and did here that fucker would stick to everyone he did. And he would do just weird ones. Like one year he's like, you know, I don't watch enough baseball. I'm going to watch more of the Cubs this year. And he fucking watched the whole season. Like we'd be sitting there like wherever he's like, Hey, there's a game on. I got to watch it. You know, I made my resolution that I'm a watch more. So he would always fucking have the game on.
00:26:02
Okay. This is fun. You just said that. I've never thought of it that way. It's always like, I'm not going to do this. I mean, I guess it's I'm going to work out, but it's like, I'm going to lose weight. Not a lot of people are like, I'm going to do more of this. How about a commitment to more fun things that you like? Like you do it that way. As opposed to my resolution is that I'm going to lose weight. I'm going to do this quote-unquote negative. You know what I mean? Obviously, losing weight is a good thing, but it's hard. It's a lot more difficult than watching the Cubs. It can be a negative thing as opposed to like, yeah, I really want to fucking watch more Cubs games.
00:26:35
or I want to watch more of this or I want to play more golf or I want, you know, whatever. It goes into the same thing that like when you talk about setting goals at work or just in life in general, set attainable goals. Yeah, exactly. I like what he's saying there is like, yeah, I want. So a good one that I had in, I'm not going to call it a new year's resolution because it was just something that I said I wanted to do this past year and I haven't gotten it done. So it's going to move to next year is I want to sing karaoke like and feel comfortable doing that. Right. Erik, we're not out of time.
00:27:05
We can still make this happen. That is a goal. That's a goal. It's not a New Year's resolution. But it's a goal. It's something you want to accomplish. No, I get it. Hey, Megan, Tab, I hope you heard that. That's on you. We held up our end of the party for the bus. So I believe karaoke's on you guys. I'm not shitting you. We're planning it. The other day, I was at SAG Wagon for, it was like a birthday party and football and all kinds of shit going on and they had karaoke and absolutely nobody was doing it or paying attention because it's saturday and they always have to yeah i almost just went and did it just because i knew nobody was fucking paying attention that would have been the time yeah but i was socializing and yeah no i think it's funny i think it's also a really weird thing that you have to just sing karaoke i haven't done either i love it i mean good for you it scares the fuck out of me we've talked about it but yeah i don't know i don't know why it's so scary to me i can go up to a bunch of people i don't know and make friends and like do that i bet there's something about i think it's like the room like you're afraid like it's quiet and everyone's staring at you same reason i would never like i'm too scared to ever do like an open mic or something like that which i always wanted you need to get home you need to get home and we can go out and we'll show these guys how we do some karaoke all right come on yeah come on but we'll get them involved they'll have a blast i mean i i feel comfortable like if you asked me to just give a speech in front of people right now i could do it yeah but like right comedy i wouldn't do that either yeah but it's like an overcoming fears thing it is i noticed this fear in me i need to try and fix it if i want
00:28:38
to enjoy life more as well i'm impressed yeah i've always wanted to do an open mic like i've if i could go back in time i'd be like oh man what if i could have tried at least tried stand up you know what i mean it's kind of rough at 42 with kids at home and stuff like that i'm saying if you actually got serious about it you were having to travel and all that kind of stuff not saying i would get like they're getting close to being done you can start working on your script right now here that's true i know my son's 18 yeah five years it's one of those things where i've just never wanted to do it but like yeah i could see you doing that like i could see like it's one of those you have to the biggest thing is getting over being in front of people but then the second thing is like what if they don't laugh yeah yeah that's a big one i know it's pretty rough up there then you just move on you know how to roll through it well we've all we've all made a joke that like didn't hit and you're like fuck you know what i mean but doing that to five people is one thing versus a room of 50 or you know more it's like oh like i i don't know if i talked about this but like i attribute it to it's not the same but doing best man speeches they're like they're nerve-wracking and i could edit i know you do it you do it really good here's what happens it gets over and i'm i seriously feel like will ferrell and when he goes off and i blacked out what happened I can't even remember what I said.
00:29:51
I really can't. And everyone comes up to me like, that was so good. And your Uncle Brian, or him and Tom and somebody, might have been Chauncey, after Adams came up to me on her and called me. And I was like, thanks. I remembered the first joke I did, and that was it. You know what I mean? Do you do it just completely off the cuff, or do you make notes? No, I make notes. I think about it for a couple weeks ahead of time, and I write a loose thing. I know there's points I have to hit, but otherwise, yeah. anytime i'm doing a speech that's what i prefer to do is just like make bullet points exactly so that i don't you don't want to get lost yeah oh and when i get lost i can just go back here and find the thing yeah i know yeah i'm not reading off a script i can't stand when someone's looking at me reading something it might as well be in fucking chinese like i'm like yeah well once it's over it's really kicking in at that point i'm like everyone's looking at me and is that word the yeah i so i i've talked about it on the podcast before too but i work with a youth group and when we talk to them about like public speaking that's a huge thing like if you're sitting there reading off of a script yeah nobody's listening no they're shutting down within a few sentences and that's public speaking is a lot like my my kids not logan's passed it now but he i remember him struggling layla's getting there now it's like they're making they make the kids do it on purpose they need to that now because kids don't like to talk to people strangers go booking your own doctors all this stuff it's like i tried telling her there's a reason they're making you guys do these things like it is very important to be able to do that and they hate it's a cool
00:31:24
thing to be able to do too a lot of people can't i i get weird i don't know sometimes i can get really nervous i can be really shy and we kind of oh i thought you were just going to stop with i get weird i get weird i get fucking weird on new year's eve after suspicants yeah but then there's other times where i'm just like i want full court everybody looking at me you know i don't know it's it's a really it's because it's because you know like like you with your family or you with your friends or like yeah it's the moment you know like i can own the room right now like i can make the joke i have this song i have this but like public speaking is like that you like the fun i do and It's not always like, yeah.
00:32:06
So I totally get that. I agree. We're not cracking somewhat. I remember, so I used to have to do it all the time for my other job. And I was up in a room, I don't know, 400 people or whatever. And I fucking tripped over a cord. And I didn't fall. Oh, God. But you know what I mean? I kind of tripped. And then I was just like. It threw you off your game. It threw me off my game. My face went red. And I was very aware. I was in front of everybody. And I'm like, okay, let's get started. You know what I mean? It was like, I had so much more to say. And I was like, nope. my default is to go self-deprecating i'm just gonna make fun of it well i normally do but normally i'm good at that part of it like and actually that's usually exactly how i because i don't care i don't really take myself that serious right but when i'm up there and i'm very aware that i was looking at me and i just about tripped and then in my head i'm like what's better than the fat guy falling down you know what i mean like oh god like a professional environment exactly in a very yeah i couldn't be like what the fuck look at this idiot because it was all It was very much like yeah have you ever see the family guy where he's following a fat guy walking But the guy walks funny because he's fat and he's just playing like the trumpet like Stop, I have a glandular problem and then he falls He just goes He just reminded me of that I remember giving a speech or giving a presentation At my old job and it was yeah, it was a couple hundred people and I meant to say I think I had to say recycle or something, but I ended up saying like No, it wasn't that superheroes
00:33:40
Yeah, and I didn't realize I did it so I just kept going thank God But ever I noticed people faces changing people hiding laughs when I got done They like why did you say go go what did i say well you said fornicate i go no i didn i like i like but yeah it it funny now rosberg gave a speech one time when we were a job that we were doing we were selling books door to door and you actually did that yeah like not long i sucked at it but uh rosberg was great at it and so he had done it for multiple years we're at this school like where we're training and learn how to do it and he gets up there he's like in the speech he's like you just got to be promiscuous man you just got to be promiscuous and what you're doing as and what he meant he was like pursuing or like you know he was trying to be like that because yeah promiscuous and we're like what the fuck no wonder you guys are you out there like fucking nailing everybody we're selling books also we want to also like yeah i have told my children so many times don't say big words unless you know what they mean yeah exactly just use the small word if you don't know what it means yeah yeah it's okay yes um we should bring it back yeah what's what's your vote on new year's resolutions i i'm i'm against i i do like you know if again like you said if they work for you great but i i don't think they're cool because i'm like just do what you need to do you know yeah no matter the time i would agree i'm going to say they're they're not cool but yeah yeah that's how i feel like like like we said before if you need it yep i get it and that's cool it's cool do it if you like it you want to do it good
00:35:11
for you not for us yeah right not for us that's a good one um you care if i go here yeah go for it so the same thing obviously with the new year's eve one dressing up you know because it's it's when you go out or whatever you know it's not your jeans and t-shirt time like you know a lot of time it's like get dressed up to go out yep um is that still cool on new year's to get dressed up and go out um yeah on the top everyone's different i like i don't like dressing up all the time this is me comfy right like this is what i prefer but i because i don't do it all the time i do enjoy when i do do it sure like it's like oh i feel good you like it's a good night the last time we went out like did new year's big was a couple years ago like care and i went out we'd fancy dinner and went out after that and we dressed up yeah it just you know it's the whole like look good feel good yeah i'm not saying you need to be in a three-piece suit all day every day But still.
00:36:04
But if that makes you feel good, do it. So I like it. If you're going out, if I'm just going to someone's house for a New Year's Eve party, I'm not doing that. No. Unless that's like a theme. Sweater and put on a good hat. You're still not. You probably church it up a little bit. Exactly. You know what I mean? But leave the holy jeans at home. That's what you. So I feel like if you were going to a fancier thing, you're going to maybe a ball or something, new year's where it's black tie and everybody's doing it yeah i think it's kind of cool i think it's a little awkward if it's just you and a small group of friends going out to a bar and they're like why the are these people so dressed up right now that's or you gotta go to the right bar where you know they're gonna be dressed up you can't just go to your the townie bar knowing that no one's gonna be dressed up exactly if the bar says hey we're doing this yeah where you actually get tickets to or whatever and it normally comes with like champagne you know like that thing then i think you get dressed up yeah i that's where i'm at is like when it comes to getting dressed up i think it's the right situation you do it yeah um i am a big fan of no matter what in life dressing a little bit nicer like dress for the job you want not the one you have type of thing yeah so like i tend to dress up more in some scenarios but like when it's a casual thing or just wanting to have fun with friends i would prefer not to sure so yeah that's kind of where i'm at but if everybody else is doing it i'll i'm a joiner and and i have a game for it oh for sure yeah because no one wants to be the person that's not like i that little side point drives me nuts like if i don't know it's like a more dressy event and like
00:37:38
i show up i'm like i'm out of here like i can't thanks luck dickhead yeah it's like bye okay something i really want to tell me you asshole i really want to do this sometime is like tell have you seen these videos where they tell every different couple a different theme what and everybody shows up like that's amazing why is everybody dressed like this like one couple shows up in inflatables and the other one's like this is the theme glitzy glam and then the couple shows up and they're like what is going on that'd be so hard to pull off but so awesome i would love yeah it's so hard to keep it a secret from everybody but like but you tell them like hey like you just lie to every couple you're like no look we're not telling them they're just going to show up like everybody else but we're wearing this and then you tell the next couple the next thing remember the girls did that to us a few years ago with the shirts the shirts yeah it was uh it was our it was our friends giving our friends giving at tj's house and yeah actually like here you should wear this shirt i got this so you guys all showed up wearing the same okay well it was weird you got me a shirt but she was like she played off because she's like it's a christmas shirt i want you i'm like oh okay and i showed up and we fucking all like everybody had the shirt mine was weird because hilarious too so yeah yeah it is i i still am like how how was every guy just that because i didn't like throw a fight but i'm like she's never ever this was my ex but i'm like we never told me what to wear like you should wear this like blah blah blah and i'm like what i don't i go i don't like that shirt i don't want to wear that and she's like just wear it and i was like why i couldn't figure out why she was so adamant so i'm like jesus i'll wear the damn shirt but i was like something's up so you're going in thinking
00:39:10
that i didn't know what i was like maybe there may be well different i i had no idea but it was still i walk in and i'm still so dumb it took me like way too long to realize we all the same shirt on so it was like a nutcracker shirt or something like it said uh adam was wearing it on the bus yeah right what did he say does tj wear it or adam smashed these nuts or like i can't remember what it's like that yeah it was adam i think yeah because the same thing like i was like adam like that's fucking weird but then she's like it's a christmas one you don't have one so i got i'm like oh i guess that makes sense yeah yeah yeah i just know it was tj had the snowman that's right okay oh yeah he had the snowman carrot yeah he did yeah it was strong i was gonna say with dressing up i used to like it a lot more than i do now and a lot of it's just because my job i just i dress up a lot and actually i don't really have to as much as i used to um i used to wear the suit you know they're a coat four days a week you know yeah and tie i would i would fucking snap like i'm hot all the time dude i don't know you just kind of get used to it i don't know like it's just like when you wear like a long sleeve shirt dress shirt in the summer like for some reason it's yeah if you just kind of deal with it you know i mean materials too they're not as bad but i mean like i'm not going to be wearing the coat out no well you don't you normally put it on you go into what you're doing come in take it off the office like it's always yeah like i have a hanger behind my door all the time like yeah and a lot of times i'll
00:40:40
just keep a coat back there and a tie now just in case somebody pops in and i need to have it on you know what i mean but it's just not a thing like it used to be so i i've always liked it i thought i liked the occasion of getting dressed looking sharp you know what i mean when you really got your you know a nice suit and like a good tie with shirt like everything like looks fucking good yeah um but when i started wearing them every day then it wasn't like i had this special thing like it became something like almost like a pain in the ass like did i get my fucking dry clean picked up did i right you know what i mean it was like this whole deal yeah so then it became less cool and so i am still for it though if we if any time we want to get dressed up go out kick the town i am i'm all for it so um i personally my vote is that is still cool same yeah i like it when we do it as a group yep if it's just saying like hey go get dressed up just because you're going to xyz i'm less interested but as a group i like it and we also kind of said this the event's got to fit it too yeah like you said i don't want to go to someone's house unless you're putting on a full-on fancy fucking sit down right you know i mean like type deal like that but but and also i don't want to go to the local bar like we're going to a nicer restaurant and we're going to go to like a thing like that i wanted to warn it i will say i've been i've become very comfortable in just showing up to the local bar or whatever in a suit take out rip off the tie throw it in the car oh yeah you know
00:42:11
because i'm after an event like yeah after the event's different than dressing up and that is but what's funny is it's kind of like wearing a kilt to a bar like everybody comes up like what are you doing what's going on with this well because i've been to multiple events for non-profits or whatever and we have a table and whatever and then everyone's heading home then we go to a bar yeah i mean like i'm not gonna go home and change i remember ashley and i got it Oh, fuck. We were at JDRF event. And that is an open bar. Oh, diabetes. Yeah. So it's an open bar thing. And it was, you know, for our nieces and nephews.
00:42:48
And so we were doing that. And then we ended up heading to the Moose. Well, we ended up running to people we know at the Moose that just buy our drinks that are just fucking take care of us. Like, we just keep ordering vodkas, whatever we're drinking, vodka seven, like the whole time. and we're walking to go to i think like taco bell or something you know like just down the road we're trying to get a cab and we both both fucking fall over like in this snow fence you know i mean and it just we just fall into it and we are fucking like i like a brand new suit on like you know like this event's like a big deal ashley's all dressed up we're on first avenue fall into a fucking snow fence that's going on i would have loved it it was just a total trade rack and thank god yeah the that time the fucking uber pulled up or whatever nothing like did the uber drive you through taco bell right i don't remember i remember being like actually we can't fall over on first avenue and the goddamn god every time we tried to get up it was like one of those things where i fall over again there's nothing to push off of you know just just playing in a seriously the next morning i had like fucking dirt stains on my suit and everything so yeah good think we're getting it dry cleaned anyway so i guess it's still cool yep yeah because we all agree all right i have the next one i know and you're making a face um how do you guys feel about new year's superstitions so i'm gonna give a little
00:44:19
lead in on this because um i heard about one recently and this is what made me think to do this now i don't know if i want fucking want to hear it because i've never heard of this i was gonna say i'm gonna be all like because i get weird about superstition so all right okay so you may just okay i'll start with the easy ones i'll start with the normal ones so did you know that like kissing at midnight was a superstition originally it kind of started with like you kiss at midnight and that leads to love in the new year staying together yeah staying together is it with that person or just if you're kissing somebody you're going to find love no it could be her it's loosely interpreted but i mean it because like obviously i'm gonna kiss my well that's fine but i'm like if i was dating i'm like i just gotta kiss somebody to make sure i find love this year even yeah with her the way that's true the way that it reads from what i've my little tiny bit of research is that kissing someone at midnight leads to ensuring love for the new year which that makes because you remember the old like friends episodes where they're like oh no like he's kissing her like i don't have anyone to kiss and they're like trying to figure it out didn't matter who you just had to get a kiss at midnight yep i never understood why it was that big of a deal that makes more sense um the other one you know like we do the poppers and the noisemakers all that yeah um that's a chinese superstition from what i understand to scare away evil spirits so like you make a lot of noise all right i didn't know any of these noise everybody cheers there's the noisemakers fireworks okay i'm here for that um same same vein kind of simple
00:45:51
weird especially in the midwest because it's cold as fuck here uh open your windows and let all the evil spirits out so like open your windows and doors yeah it's been let it like air out your house okay yeah um so there's a bunch of other ones but the one that i just heard about recently and i guess i'm behind the eight ball because i didn't know anything about this there's tiktok trends and everything yeah eating 12 grapes what yeah so i fucking love grapes but okay Shaun's writing this down. I am. 12 grapes at midnight. So at midnight, so what I understand is the history of it with European tradition is with the 12 tolls.
00:46:32
12 inches, 12 grapes. Once it hits 12 and you hear the bell tolls, you're supposed to eat one on each toll, which is, that's hard. That's really fast. That's hard and fast. Yeah. Hard and fast. That's reaching the name of the podcast. True. Stronger erections. This is what we're talking about. Most of the younger generation has adopted when it hits 1159, you have one minute to finish your 12 grapes. That's fine. I can put 12. So, but the true meaning behind it, which I don't know if the, all the TikToks are following this, but each grape is supposed to be a new intention that you want to put into the world for the 12 months of the year.
00:47:10
So that's why there's 12 is like, I want to lose weight or I want to. um have a successful podcast yeah i'm gonna have a successful podcast i want to make more money you know whatever it is so you have these intentions that you want throughout the year so i have never heard of that i've never heard so do you have to say it before you pop the grape that's a lot i was gonna say you're just like oh i want a new dog i'm gonna lose weight the the way that i read it and like looked at a couple of people that were doing it in videos is they're not saying it out out they're thinking it as they're chewing that grape and then they still a lot i'd have to think 12 things in a fucking hurry yeah hopefully you can i'm gonna write a list down yeah before and then i then i found some funny riffs on this where you can make a 12 grapes cocktail um and just drink that you can oh now you're talking our language there we go you can uh there was a lady that would have been a good drink that would be a good drink for today yeah i mean we could have just had wine there's definitely at least 12 grapes in a glass of wine more than 12. oh that's true 12 12 I thought you were just being greedy.
00:48:13
I know. That's my new year's decision. Just to be less greedy. There was a lady that did like Prosecco soaked grapes. So she put them in bubbly wine. Okay. So you can have some fun with it. But Aaron and Audrey and I are going to try it this year. You know, we've decided. Please record yourselves because I want to see you just choking on grapes. But here's another one. Here's another one. Why are they so big? That's what she said. eat grapes that fast. A bunch of people are doing it under tables, too, which I have no idea what the table part. I couldn't find anything in my research to understand. Like you sit underneath the table to do it? Yeah, you have to sit under the table.
00:48:52
Maybe there's a tornado while it's happening. I think you got on a weird fucking trend there, dude. So what do you guys think about this? There's a ton more I can bring up, but it's Well, I was going to say, name a couple. These are kind of fun, but I've never heard of any of these. I mean, even the Kissing Amendment, I've heard of. So Kissing definitely heard of, and the Noisemaker, I didn't know why. But I knew there was a Noisemaker. Exactly. I didn't know those were actual superstitions. I thought it was just tradition. You know what I mean? That's where the tradition comes from. Exactly, yeah.
00:49:19
If you are single and it is coming down to the clock ticking, go stand next to the hot person. Yeah, just give them a kiss. Tip from somebody who's probably been kissed by someone that was way out of my league. No, you don't have to do it. They'll be looking around like, I'm right here. What movie is everything? That's assault, brother. Go big or go home. Yeah. Just getting thrown in jail. it was totally worth it like then you know helpful tip number two go to the bar on valentine's day yeah you'll do well yeah you'll do better than you will at home that's goddamn sure okay so i'm going to give you a couple more just a couple i'm just curious now um so in the south uh tradition to for prosperity is eat black-eyed peas and collard greens for your for your like new year's eve okay so um carry cash in your wallet or shoe so make sure you have cash when it when the clock hits midnight eric's just trying to get people how much cash do we need i i don't know why the cash that was like i know the number because i'll have it i rarely have cash on me but i'll make sure i have it i was gonna say that day i i like the shoe idea because like i could put a hundred dollar bill in my shoe and forget about it until new year's day gonna be like shit i'm making money i'll put a fucking stink feed if she maybe that's maybe that's how i go into the new year taller i'm just gonna stay in our hundreds he's gonna come back he gonna come back taller and be like i fucking know what you were looking for the whole you gonna be like hold it i grab my shoes why do all why does all your money smell like feet yeah exactly um so this one an
00:50:53
interesting one well yeah first footer so this is a very european um denmark specifically what i read um first footer so the first person to cross cross your threshold after midnight should ideally be a dark-haired male bringing gifts of coal or bread. What the fuck? Where's this from? I got money in my pocket. Can I count that as bread? Well, I'm bald as fuck, first of all. So I'm not doing shit. Boys, if you need me to cross your threshold. I was going to say, we got to carry you by the sounds of it. Good luck. I want to double up. Don't skip the wake up, baby. You're going to want a little support. Just put us no fence right there.
00:51:40
He'll topple right over. guys we should talk about logan he just left we should play with all his fucking gadgets all of a sudden the podcast just goes mute dude what did you do like it'll come out i'll be like you tripped over the cord the way i plugged everything so yeah okay no i've never heard of that one here's the here's the last one i have uh there's a ton more actually i got two two or two that are fun uh carry an empty suitcase around so if you carry an empty suitcase all day of new year's eve i guess you have a year you're looking forward to a year full of travel oh okay okay i like that one yep and then avoid poultry or lobster it's like the best habit right they they always move sideways or backwards so you don't want to eat something that moves backwards if you're going into a new year and you want to save the crabs That's been my issue Because I've had too much lobster That's why I always eat lobster on New Year's Actually normally I'd have it on Christmas Eve I'm a poultry fan and it screwed me over I don't chicken it by the way I own chickens You know how much wings I've had The poultry part was really awkward to me Because it's like I've seen plenty of poultry Move forward You put some grain in front of them They're going to move forward Lobster and crab kind of are side to side Lobster, crab yeah yeah lobster typically they kind of swim backwards right actually yeah that makes sense
00:53:11
huh those are cool i don't i i can't believe i've never heard of i didn't how many of those have you heard of right the first couple you said but again never thought of them as superstitions just thought of them as tradition so so that's crazy i mean have you guys always been a party type thing on new year's eve or have you ever been dinner you know like we're kind of a mix sometimes it's dinner sometimes it like we always do the ball drop and kiss at midnight type of thing yeah um but sometimes it's at home sometimes it's out sometimes it's at a friend's house sure like it varies so yeah yeah we've always been like that too it's what's awesome in our neighborhood now our good friends up the street they they do a party at their house so it's literally fucking walk home see that's amazing i love it yeah i mean and so it is like as good as it gets because trying to get home is always fucking kids or no kids uh kids they're they it's open yeah you know especially where you live because yeah it's so we always kids the same age and yeah we always kind of like new year's because i'm not saying all but most things tend to be a little bit kid friendly and you get the sparkling grape juice for the kids yeah have some fun with it they can participate my kids are coming right into that area where they want to do something you know cooper's like ah dad i'm thinking about a new year's eve party i'm like fucking you're in eighth grade yeah i mean you're thinking about it yeah you know what though we did the same shit you know you know so i'm just coming right into the fastball of it like my life right now is like oh yeah yeah yeah i like it i'm excited for him and i want to i just want to be fucking safe
00:54:43
you know we've gotten off that a little bit about us being dads and like that stuff like that but as it as they get to this age you just want to be fucking safe it's terrifying it's so scary and not lie to you and sneak around. It's so fucking scary. It's a lot harder for them.

There's like 360. Most of us have our kids on that. If you don't, I'm not judging. I'm just saying I do. I've said something to Logan before about that. He's like, you know there's ways that I can make it freeze so you don't know where I'm at. I'm like, Jesus Christ. I'm sure there is. You could turn your location off and it's going to freeze it where you're at. I also have Apple, so if I was really curious, I would just go to that. If they're both doing that... I'm just going to kick your ass. Exactly. No, it's just, it's this horrible feeling of like, I just need you to be safe. I want you to have fun, but I just need you to be safe.
00:55:33
It's because of what we did and how we were. That's at least what I think. I'm like... Do you guys ever remember having the same fucking conversation with your parents, though? Because my parents said, like, I just want you to be safe. I did all kinds of stupid shit. No, I didn't have any. It was awesome. I just did whatever I wanted. See, I didn't know. I was left at a fire station. and I was like, let's go.
00:55:58
Sorry, too soon? Sorry, I was looking directly into your eyes when I said that because we sit across from each other. Has it ever been nice to have parents say they love you and they care about you and they want you to be safe? No, Erik, you piece of shit. God, fuck you too. We turn the middle finger. I deserve that one. But in all seriousness, yeah, in all seriousness, yeah, my parents were that way. but I got it like so I was like I believe you I'll be honest I'm just gonna and I'm gonna do it I took it really serious I don't know if my kids do you have good kids they are really good kids here's what I'll say about all of us our kids are everything to us we are good dads like you know I can say that safely like I know people who are not I know my good friends I know you guys well we're good dads we have good kids who respect this i do think they will always do their best to keep us informed and let us learn safe but it's never going to take it fully away because it's just there logan last night wanted to like went to drive to his cousins to stay the night what was it it was terrible outside yeah it was fucking horrible and the wind was whipping like hard and i'm just like i know he can drive in it but it's like i was losing my mind and like we got into it a little bit and i let him go but i'm like you can call me the minute you get there and i'm like sitting there he doesn't even know this just watching life 360 like okay he's moving he's moving he's a really good driver yeah but like it's terrifying but it well and things like that it's not necessarily how good of a driver you are
00:57:30
it's every other it's everybody else yeah you know i mean it's the weather i just know that it's just scary that even a little mistake can be a really bad one yeah you know i mean and that's where it's like we've all known someone or yeah known someone who knew someone it's like yeah i'm like just listen to me like just fucking be honest with me like it's gonna be okay yeah I've told my kids since they can remember I said just don't lie to me if you even if you fuck up you do something real bad if you come clean and you're honest right away I'm telling you the punishment will be so not severe compared to what you think but if I catch you lying about it I won't unleash hell on you because we should be honest with each other you know what I mean granted if they do something bad enough you still have to punish them but there's a lot of ways punishment can go and how long there's a different pun you know punishment whatever it's gotta work right like because you're trying to make it happen like whatever you ground them yeah yeah yeah whatever i'm just same thing but it's like man it is that i have a kid it's fucking scary you know i mean it really really is at the end of the day it's like i want you to be you know everyone says i just want my kids to be happy it's like i want you to be fucking safe yeah after that then happy you know i mean then you know i mean like you have these really you know this list that you have of you know i dream bb and this this no ultimately i want you to be fucking safe then happy then we'll figure out you know yeah good yeah and it's one of those things again i've talked to my kids like especially
00:59:01
my son with the ages that where it's like there's just certain things you don't understand why i'm being like this and i go i get it i understand why you don't understand i never understood it tell now either yeah and i go but one day if you do have kids it will click and you'll just be like motherfucker he was right because it's like it's just different you know what i mean i didn't mean to step on you that's kind of no no he's so excited you're fine that's kind of what i was trying to say is like i'm admitting to my parents now they were right yeah you know because i was like you don't get it you guys are you guys are being too tough or whatever you don't know and it's like jerry and todd get to do it what the fuck yeah yeah stupid yeah so they don't love their kids and i do right i'm sad to say buddy because yours are younger i know it's not gonna to get better i know i get so much worse i think it's just because i'm coming right into it right now like it is i'm just right there and it's just but i do have good kids you do i really do and i and i gotta trust them and i gotta do that stuff and i do i do i know much yeah it doesn't mean i don't sit here and panic yeah because like you said you can you can't control them but you trust them but you can't do shit about everything around them no or just like like i said one little mistake yeah be a big one just in some stupid way so yeah the roads are slippery yeah i don't trust them you know i know how to drive i understand you do i get it but you also can't see black eyes right so yeah you can't see black eyes like you can't see a deer that runs out all of a sudden yeah all right everybody out there listening make sure you uh send us all your funny kid stories
01:00:34
of stupid shit they've done and or why we shouldn't be worried about them yeah i'd love to hear that yeah right there's everything's fine they move out and they they a dove comes and takes them away to a happy place yeah that's great make us feel better how do we feel who sells those bubbles where are we at on that let's get more into this here like where can we get the bubble it's funny too because maybe you guys didn't i'm not saying you did it bad but like i've talked about logan moving out and how it's like kind of with me and it's like yeah i'm not taking it well and you guys are like yeah but you did great it's like it's it's time and i'm like yeah but you don't it's just i could talk to you all day long about your kid yeah it's different when it's mine you don't get it you don't get it that's exactly what it is yeah you're like you don't get it like i can talk to both of you about how great your kids are and what you guys have done but i know what you're saying like when i meet your kids i have no worry about them in life at all like they're going to be just fine you know what i mean but i think it's different when they're you're like i think both things are important yeah because like it is good to hear a little bit of that like affirmation that hey, you know what? You are doing a good job.
01:01:34
But also, it's not going to be like that's not getting rid of every fear. No. Because it's probably what makes you good at it. Actually, the fear is what drives you to be a good parent. You know what I mean? By the way, I know I swear a lot. That's common knowledge. I want to tell you this. Oh, hold on. Wait. No, you say it first before I say it. No, I'm excited about it. So Logan just randomly, we were like, I was making dinner tonight. I had to make dinner early because we were recording early. And I went like And he's like I was like well I'm like I still have to go change I'm like I'm running out of time Blah blah blah and he never swears I know he does but not in front of me He also knows I don't care but he just doesn't do it And he's like Fuck damn it what the fuck What am I going to wear tonight this is bullshit And he just like acted like me and I was dying laughing I'm like is that what I sound like And he goes that's what it sounds like to me I'm like you're so aggressive with it though He goes you are calmer when you swear I was like alright So I did say, I did see a thing today that actually people that curse, you know, that swear a lot, um, are some of the most trustworthy people in the world.
01:02:41
Nailed it. Cause they're comfortable with who they are. They don't necessarily adapt to like whatever they don't put on the fake. They're their true selves. They're the least likely to lie to you. They're the least like it. Cause they're just kind of, they walk this level of true self to where they don't, they say fuck. Cause they don't really overthink about like that sort of thing. So I think about it. It's true. Like, I think I think there is a lot of there's a layer of that. I think so, too. Yeah, I just I know I do it. But to hear like the person I'm with probably the most, you know, act like me.
01:03:17
And he's like, and I'm just like, oh, God, I do do it way too much, don't I? I don't even notice I'm doing it, though. They do say that impressions are the most sincere form of flattery. So there you go. i get a lot of impressions out of my children and most of it's the sigh oh yeah because you don't know how much you do it until they call you out and they're like life a little rough today buddy i'm like i didn't even realize i did it i think i just sigh constantly just like it's also like you're getting older well yeah my back hurts those are called dad noises yeah Just the creaks. The house is settling, you know what I mean?
01:03:56
All right, there we go. There we go, that's for sure. Yeah. That's funny. All right. Happy New Year, guys. You got a dad joke for us? You got a dad joke for us? I do. I do. It's not super dad. It's more a little dirty. Yes. New Year's Eve, come on. Hopefully, everybody listening is familiar with, at least in the general sense, some characters from Lord of the Rings. If you've ever heard of Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo Baggins is the Hobbit that's in The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
01:04:30
Why did Bilbo have a boner when he died? Hold on. Maybe I'm going to go back and watch these. All I can think is like the Shire. What? Old Hobbits die hard.
01:04:45
Or you might say it's a good day to die hard. That's pretty fucking good. That's all right. I like that one. Damn it. I was like, I know so much Lord of the Rings stuff. I was really like, I can get this one. I wouldn't have got there. I mean, you just have to know Bilbo's Hobbit, really. It was supposed to be a New Year's Eve joke, dick. Yeah, I didn't feel like looking up a New Year's Eve joke. I like it. That's a good one. I heard this the other day, and I was like, that's fucking great. That is good. Use it before I lose it. Yeah. I have a couple dirty ones I'll tell eventually. I got to set one of them up.
01:05:18
