Mike Owens and I'm Shaun Barry. Welcome to We're Still Cool, right? Well, I don't know if it's really about that, but I think it is the ultimate question. I mean, I don't even know if I was ever cool. I like to think I was a little cool. And by the way, we're cool. Like we're cool with each other, but we're not feeling so cool anymore. I'm 41. Yes, and I am the old man 45 here. He's really old, yeah. And so we have kids, and I just don't really feel cool anymore. I don't, again, I'm not sure we're ever cool. But, hey, we can hold in. We got moments, I suppose, like anybody else. We do. Again, we're just a couple middle-aged men making our way through this wonderful world here right now.
00:00:44
And like anything else, we just thought we'd have some fun topics that we can talk about. Yeah, and there's no shortage. I have two kids. I have an almost 12 year old and then I have a 17 year old and 17 7 fucking teen yeah yeah I am 15 and 12 so uh nothing makes you feel not cool like kids in their teens because I used to be so cool to my kids and I still have my girl who she hangs on a little bit but even her she's getting to just be like dad stop and it's like oh fuck it's gone okay I just I'm it's totally gone now You know, I have the same thing. But obviously our kids, we're a little flip-flop with boy-girl, you know, your oldest boy of mine.
00:01:27
Well, this is a girl. But she is getting cool. Now, I don't know any of the lingo, and not that I've ever really tried to keep up with it, but she'll talk, and I'm like, I don't even know. Are those words? Yeah. Like she said something the other morning. I had to take her to a sporting thing that she was doing, and she used a sentence and I looked right at her and I go, I don't even know what that meant. Like, I don't even know what you just said. I don't even, like, I don't even, was it good? Was it bad? Were you making fun of me? I have no clue. I have no clue. And she's dying laughing, so then she keeps going.
00:02:03
And just, I'm like, you know, at this age, I have these moments where I just feel so old sometimes. And then other times I'm like, I don't know, I'm still a young guy here. I'm not like that at all. We've talked about this a lot. Like, there's, I can't tell you how many, I mean, at work, sometimes I feel cool and I feel young. I have young people on my team. Sometimes I get in a meeting and I'm like, oh my God, I'm ancient. You know what I mean? And I'm not cool. And I mean, even day to day when we're out at the bars and stuff like that, one minute I'm like, man, I still got this. And then the next minute I'm like, I don't know anything about these stocks they're talking about.
00:02:37
Somebody needs to help me. I need an adult. Yes. Yes. Yes. And all of a sudden. We need an adult. Yeah, but we're in charge of decisions. We make decisions that actually count. You looked at your parents at this age. I don't know. I swear they had it way more figured out than I did. That's for a different one. Thinking about that, at the age that my parents were, I always thought that they were... I never thought my dad felt like the way I feel right now. Like overwhelmed. I can't see your dad ever being like, I don't know what I'm doing. But you just had to. He had to. He had to. Because, yeah, he just always had it put together.
00:03:17
Like, you know what he's doing. It's just what being an adult is. We're just faking it until we make it. And then finally we're going to be on our deathbed one day and we're going to be like, oh, I get it now. And then we're going to croak. That's right. That's Nate Bergacci stand-up. You see him and he's like, we're just a couple young dudes, you know. And then some other guy comes, we're beating, old man.
00:03:37
And nothing takes the wind out of your sails faster than that. Or you're looking around and they're talking about it. And then you realize, oh, I'm the old man. They're talking about me. Everybody at this table is younger than me. And I'm by a lot. You ever catch yourself? So with my kids, years ago, I would hear my son's friends be like, your dad's so cool. And I was like, fuck, yeah, I did. I broke the code. You know what I mean? Now that, like, I don't know when it stopped, but it stopped. They all come on. Hey, guys, what's going on? They're like, hey. And I'm like, oh, fuck. Now I'm the enemy.
00:04:10
I don't know when it happened, though. I think it's when they're up to no good. They realize that. Oh, that could be. Might be some more looking into it. But I'm still cool, right? You can't go uncool, can you? I don't know. It sucks. But you're talking about that bumper sticker. I used to be cool. Yeah. God, that was like five years ago. I saw a minivan. And it was. It was a dude driving a minivan. Not a single mark on it. And then he got in front of me and a little sticker in the back of the window said I used to be cool And I was like fuck me too You say that and it triggers it I have contemplated getting a minivan Literally like I tried to talk Ashley to get a minivan I remember when we got married we were like we were looking at each other and seriously she's like I go we'll never be minivan people right like we're gonna be SUV Right that's what we're gonna that's what we're gonna be And she's like, absolutely.
00:05:07
And I remember being like, that's one of my, yep. I'm marrying the right person. You've never owned a minivan. Never owned a minivan. Okay. I asked that because we did once and it's really not bad. But on the flip side, I still feel like a big SUV is better. I don't know why. Well, I mean, there's no room in them. I mean, there is room, but it's not like, it fills up. We have that town. It fills up in a hurry. Which is crazy because I think it's huge. I swear. our neighbors have a minivan we'll go on vacation and you know like caravan or whatever the amount of stuff they pull out of that thing i was like how do you like i didn't see out any window we're packed in there he's driving can see right out the back window because the floor sits so low like that's true i was like and they're they're just easier i mean for the kids with sports getting in and out but the doors automatically open and you're not climbing over shit and the seats store easy and so I guess that makes sense you're gonna get a minivan I don't know if Ashley will get it like so she's still holding it out and I'm like well I can't be thinking well if I could hear this guy that your wife won't get a minivan I know you're getting a minivan I tried to talk her into it and then I've literally been like should I just do it so hear me out what if you just show up with a minivan hey oh my god like those Christmas commercials she just walks up there's a bow on it you're like Mary have you seen the SNL skit that would be my wife no you're an idiot that's a major purchase you just went and bought that all by yourself I'm just told that.
00:06:31
That's the best Saturday Night Live skit that there is. I don't know if they had a sketch about it, because I used to watch those commercials and I'd be like, holy fucking, I would be irate. You have to watch it, because it's so true. Yeah. It's like, what do you mean? It's the summer of Lexus. She's like, it's a major purchase. Have you seen commercials? I haven't. Oh. Anybody that can. I mean, hats off to anyone that's got that relationship that can do that, but I mean, that ain't happening in our house. I mean, we are... And it shouldn't happen in any home. Look, if you're a multi-millionaire and literally $40,000 is going out to eat for you, then knock yourself out.
00:07:11
But I feel like you're still a dick. You don't know if they want the color. You don't know, like, what if you come up with it and they're like, I hate that. And you're just... I don't want that. Yeah. You do. I'm trying to grill into it. Sales guy told me, Hey, this is the car you're going to want. He felt like an honest guy. Here's something you're going to be in hours a day, but I know what's best.
00:07:35
I'll take care of this. Yeah, that goes over well. You know, Ashley, that goes over real well, right? Yeah. Try to mansplain or tell her things. That goes over. Yeah. You know, they're probably going to hear this. We need to be careful about what we're doing.
00:07:49
Otherwise, you'll walk out to your vehicle with the board papers and she'll appreciate it. But I'd say, she's not having that stuff. So I think it'll be okay. I think so too. What are you drinking over there? My old reliable. I'm just the Miller Lite kind of guy. We should probably talk about that. I mean, we both kind of have our old reliables. I was into craft beer for many years, and now, because I'm old, it's just low carb, low calorie, but a little ultra. And, man, I got to add. So I like the fancy beers or whatever, you know, all the new craft beers or stuff. it, but I'm sure you spend it on that stuff. A lot. I mean, for real, dude, because you had legit stuff. Like, I, and I'm like, I, I dip my toe in it for like two minutes and I'm like, uh, I, this isn't going to work for the amount of beer I'd like to drink. No. That this isn't sustainable. Like this is not, this is, this is going to get. If you drink it, if that's solely all you drink, it's not sustainable. Okay. Now. So you would sprinkle it in with other stuff.
00:08:49
Okay now, but here's here's the flip to that. What do you buy now? You don't buy craft beer? What do you buy? Other than Miller Lite. What do you buy? Yeah, I bought the whiskey. Yeah, man, that's just as bad if not worse now If you can make a bottle last you know a month, but if you're drinking whiskey somewhat frequently and we don't but if you did So I've fracked the coat on that though a little bit when I'm having more of a whiskey night We usually keep some good stuff around or we try to find it. You know I mean when we have it and I'll just have one Then I switch over to I'm sorry, but the the freaking Sam's Whiskey, oh yeah, that's like this big tastes like crown. It's all right after you I enjoy the first good one And then I switch to that so then Because we're not powering through a bottle because actually drink whiskey with me like she is she my little whiskey girl lucky for Yeah, I mean, lucky or unlucky, Kara hates whiskey.
00:09:45
See, what it's lucky about is that she's down when I buy an expensive bottle. That's true. Because she, like, sounds good. Yeah, she's told me about more bottles than you have. She does, yeah. She gets into it and, you know, and really love a good bottle. Because when she gets something in her head, she'll find it. Or she's on all this other Facebook stuff where, hey, they're doing this. You need to go right now. And she doesn't care if I drop 60. You know what I mean? I don't do it every day. But it's not like I've got to explain it. Because you don't do it every day. Well, that's true. But still, I know people who do it three or four times a week.
00:10:18
Well, when that's a $70 to $100 bottle, it's like, that's a lot of money. I know. You just spend a car payment in a week or almost a car, you know, whatever. So, yeah, I mean, now might be a good time to talk about there's a third one of us. He's still cool, right? The man behind it all, our producer, I guess you would call him, Erik. And I thought of him when we started talking about craft beer because right back through that wall, you can't fathom how many waxed, sealed bottles of craft beer are back there. We just had this conversation before the pod started. So we started talking, and I'm like, no, it still happens.
00:10:54
Maybe every now and then he can't stop us because he has to watch the appear. We'll just go grab one and bring it out. Hey, I mean, I do like it. I do like it. You know, I do like it here and there. I just, you know, I also remember for business, you know, one time I was out with customers, and it was right when craft beer started coming out, you know what I mean? And we were at a place, and I didn't think anything about the alcohol content, right? Because I know how many Miller Lights I can drink before we run into an issue. I have no idea, you know what I mean? But we were at one of those things, and it was new, and hanging out with you, I think I learned whatever one to do, like something that you had mentioned, so I ordered it.
00:11:31
and I ordered a second one and I remember a couple sips in and all of a sudden I was like oh my gosh I am I can feel it then it's in my head and I'm like I'm going to make an ass of myself and I'm so legit a fist swing and I'm like what is going on and I talked to Ashley about it and she's like well did you look at the ABV or whatever and I'm like who does that? I'm like what are you talking about? I'm like oh I never thought about it and I started looking at that stuff And I'm like, every one of them is huge. Yeah, 9, 14. Which then I guess you can justify why they spend it. But, you know. Okay, yeah.
00:12:08
And that's the thing. And there's so many things about it, too. Like, I mean, one is the ABV. Two is just how it makes. I mean, there's so many calories in those things. So, like. Which is never, yeah. Well, yeah. I mean, so, like, that's part of the reason I stopped drinking it so much. Because I started looking at it. I'm like, oh, I'll just dome this bomber by myself. And then I'm like, oh, that was 16. And I'm like, you can't do that every night. Like, it's fine. I just won't eat. Like, you know, it's. Well, and I feel like I have like a certain amount of liquid that I feel like I like. It's not like, so I'll drink and then I'll have my amount of liquid and then I'm done.
00:12:44
Yeah. So if, for me, drinking higher alcohol content is not a good thing. Yeah. Because I still try to drink the same amount of liquid and it's not really. Well, because here's the thing. That's not how I want to be. There was never a lesson for this. They went, here's craft beer. We're like, cool, we're going to drink it like we've always drank everything. Yeah. And then we were like, uh-oh, I don't feel good, and I'm drunk, and I'm broke. But it was also like you were not cool unless you did. It became like the thing. It did. When I first got into it, Erik, you probably know how many years ago was that when we started drinking it?
00:13:21
Like 13 years ago maybe? Yeah, it was probably close to 10. I know it was between 10 and 13. and the selection here was barren. I mean, like there was not much. And so every time someone would travel, like my sister went to St. Louis once and she brought me back like 12 different models that I've never seen before. Fast forward now, I mean, every single one of those beers I got from there is available here or was and didn't sell and now it's gone again because it's just, there's too many options. Yeah. Well, you guys would get it. You know, and maybe that's part of it too. Like I was a little jealous of all the stuff that you guys knew.
00:13:55
I didn't know it. So I was like, well, I'm just sticking with my Miller Lite. I'll be good to go with this because I was or a lot of money well the few times I bought other ones I'd get one that was just trash I'm like ah this is I'm like well that was great You know, I just spent 25 bucks on four cans that and this is nasty. You know, I mean, and it was I had no idea What I was then it's gotten even more expensive now Like I go, you know, and I'll look at a four pack that actually sounds really good I'm like, oh, maybe I'll get this and then it's like 29.99. I'm like, ooh, I don't want it that much Like especially for that price like I'd rather get a just a decent bottle of whiskey You know what I mean? That's it's gonna last me much longer than those and us and and I know it's good So did you ever buy any just for the name? Oh, yeah, or the or the artwork Dude all that what was that brewery in Chicago that had like the like ninja versus unicorn pipeworks Dirt hands were just so cool. So I was like, I don't really like this style, but that unicorn looks badass Talk about the manliest shit I've ever purchased.
00:14:57
Shaun, pick me up in your minivan. Bring the minivan. We got a lot to bring up. All these unicorns is awesome. Yeah. That's all right. So, yeah, we're doing this podcast because, well, I'll ask you. And this was kind of your idea. Like, I don't know. It's been a while. When did you bring this up to me? Like a year ago? Yeah. Yeah. We were, yeah, I don't know. When were you? When were you going through your... I was going through my divorce. I couldn't remember. So, yeah. Oh, so it was probably like two years ago. Well, I know that. So I got into just listening to different podcasts. And I mean, it sounded cool.
00:15:34
You know, I'm like, dude, those guys just get to chat about whatever. You know, and of course I was listening to like really good, you know, two men's, one K. Like, these guys are hilarious, you know. Yeah. And I was like, well, if I was going to do anything, I could do something with Mike. Mike's got all these, you know, random shit like I do. You know what I mean? Just full of... Jack of a lot of things. Yeah. Yeah. You know? Yeah. You know, an inch wide or a mile wide, an inch deep. You know, I don't know that much about it here. You know, like, that's really what it was. But I just thought, honestly, you were kind of in a dark spot.
00:16:05
And I'm like, dude, that sounds kind of fun. And you'll do it. You know, you'll entertain that with me. It's hard to find me to get me to say no to shit. One thing I love about you, when you get into things, you're all in. Yeah. I mean, I can think about the things that you've got me into. Craft beer is one thing we're talking about. Poker. Yeah. You were so into poker. And then I love it. I still love it. Like, we need to get a poker night going again because it is just. I feel like I'm not good anymore, but I also don't play anymore. You know what I mean? But none of us do. Not exactly. Unless you bring Caten, then otherwise we're all right.
00:16:43
Because he plays all the time. But, like, I think it comes back to you a little bit, too, right? Yeah. Also, fuck that guy, because we used to play all the time, and he'd get down to me and him, and he'd always talk me into splitting the pots. And then going to breakfast, and he'd make me pay for it. Like, dude, I just got shy out of half the pot. I had to buy you breakfast. Like, so you owe me money, Caden. I don't know him. He is the best salesman there is. So there you go. That's the sale of the program. Yes, yeah. But, no, yeah, you brought it up. And I mean, we talked about it. I was like, man, that sounds fun.
00:17:14
Because this is what we do anyway. We just don't record it. Well, we sit around beers and we talk about this is what it's going to be. This is what we want to do. I don't think there's going to be a whole lot of learning going on here. We are definitely not. I mean, you may learn some shit you didn't want to know. Yeah. If we taught you something that was an accident, I mean, we'll take credit for it. But it was a complete accident. If you get in trouble, you didn't hear from us. But the truth is, we're just navigating life. We're just, you know, we are still trying to be cool. Trying to be cool and trying to figure out what the hell we're doing.
00:17:45
You know, because one day I feel like I really have life pretty down. And then I wake up the next day and I'm like, what the fuck is going on? And it's within five days. It's different every single day. Like it happens throughout the whole week. Yeah. Sometimes during the same day. I'll go into a meeting going like, I'm kicking this day's ass. I leave and I'm like, I don't want to fucking be here. Right. Like I can walk. you leave some meetings and I'm like I might be the best business maker is like see like everybody I'm walking around I'm like they all hate me nobody's listening to me nobody likes whatever like I'm a fool I'm a fraud I think like yeah that's all in that's a grown-up shit it's a grown-up shit and it's us like being our own worst critic you know what I mean which like we're all guilty of that at times but you know I think this is good this is good for us because we're doing this for fun. We're not doing this for any ulterior motive. Like, hey, if people enjoy it, then great, but we're going to do it regardless because we enjoy it.
00:18:38
Yes, but you'll enjoy it. Like you said, oh no, we have a reason to get together every week, drink some beers and bullshit. That's the ultimate. Yeah, what's the goal? That's what Mike said to me. What's the goal of this? Or Erik said, what's the goal of this? I go, I think the three of us get together and drink some beers once a week and shoot the shit. Yeah. I was like, well, there's no downside to that, so. All right, guys, I'll be home a couple hours no i had darts last night and i had to leave for a couple hours and then i realized i have this time i was like oh fuck now i feel like a dick i'm like leaving two nights in a row so i'm not gonna do next season of darts i'm gonna take that off just oh i kind of wanted to take a season off anyway okay and so this is just easier to to navigate and stuff so yeah so i told the kids they're like you're leaving again i'm like i told you and they're like well we don't remember that and i was like well write it down i don't know what to tell you It's on the calendar.
00:19:27
You heard it here folks He likes this over his dart game So you know the man is committed I man is bullshitting that I am on darts I will tell you that for sure Yeah, but that's something I want to talk about. Just my kids, they don't listen at all. And I know everyone listening is like, well, no shit, they're kids. But it's like, as they get older, one, I thought they were going to get cheaper. And I know that was stupid, first of all. But no, I thought so, too. And I thought they'd get easier. and I thought it'd be easier. No, it's not. No, everything is expensive. I just don't think it's ever cheap and it's never easy.
00:20:05
It's not. Because it's easier, it's easy to say it was easier then. I'm not really, if you would have asked me in that moment, I thought it was pretty tough. So I think it's just safe to say it's never cheap and it's never easy. Yeah, I agree. And I mean, and there's different phases, right? Like, I know a lot of dads who they hated the young baby and toddler stage, you know what I mean? I loved it just because, like, I fucking giant ovaries and i love yes little kids and stuff and that's fine but also they're easy you know like they can only run so far they can't like talk back too much they say no it's like that's all right i'll deal with that so now my son like literally is a mirror version of me so i'm just fucking arguing in a mirror and i'm like and he's huge so i'm like at any minute he's gonna be like i can take this guy i have to remind him he can't like so it just i don't know it's a lot so i i will be honest you and i are a little little opposite that way because i remember joking with ashley i'm like if you could give birth to a seven-year-old, we'll have ten kids.
00:20:59
Like, no problem. Like, no problem. Like, yeah. I was like, literally, if that's what could happen, like, no problem at all. And you guys had me like, give me your babies. I'll take care of them from their seven-year-old. Excuse me, you guys. That's what we should have been. So something that I'm coming to grips with or very much hitting me head on in life, Do you ever see when your kids do something, you know, that's fucking wrong or like a bad trait and you're like, oh, they got that from me. Oh, like, you know, you're like, that is me and I hate it and they're doing it. And then I yell at them, you know what I mean?
00:21:37
Like, you can't do this. Oh, I know. I lie and say they got it from their mom. No. Well, it's different. You got a little space between yours. She and I next to each other. And she's like, I'm like, yep, that's me. But I will be, like, I have a bad, I'm bad at, I'll procrastinate. I'll put things off. You know what I mean? I'm great under pressure, but if there's, when there's no pressure, like, I'm very, like, easy just to, like, let it go, let it go. My son is the same. And then I will just get on him about it because I'm like. Let's say Sophie. I worry about, no, she's not. She's way more, you know, like, got it in line and whatnot.
00:22:13
But then he'll get it done. Like he's like, like he'll get like it's under a pinch. He'll get it on. But it's just like if it's, you know, and I see that.
00:22:25
And I'm like, I want to correct it because it puts you in something like I put myself in so many binds where I'm like, I just don't want you to have to have those binds. But really, then I'm like, why would you do? You know what I mean? And I'm literally that friend. I'm like, stop being a hypocrite. Shut up, daddy. And I still do it at 45 years old. I'll still put myself into a bind. I think the hardest part, in my opinion, of kids is you have to let them go through their own – and let them do the dumb stuff and let them give them something to bind. And I am not good at it. I'm like, hey, dickhead, I already did it all.
00:23:00
I fucked up over and over. I can tell you what to do. And they're like, fuck you, Dad. I'm doing it myself. And you're like, God, all right, go for it. Saw that coming a mile away. Yeah. And I mean, like – and, you know, we always say this. I've heard all of us say this. Were we that stupid? Yes, we were absolutely that stupid. But we didn't have cameras recording us and people, you know, just social media. We got really goddamn lucky. I say all the time, I'm so grateful that that all hit right when I was out of high school. Right. But I will say, I think these kids navigate it well. But it's just hard in their life, right?
00:23:36
It's not like that's, you know, again, with us in our age, I feel like I'm half in on this and half in on it. You know what I mean? Like, I know technology, but I'm not definitely great at it. Like, it's like I got this little toe in everything. I got a little bit of it all. And, yeah, I mean, that is the beautiful thing of kids because, I mean, there's shit all the time. Or Logan's like, you don't know them? Like, no, show me. Like, I have no idea. I knew everything growing up. You know what I mean? Because we didn't have a game show. I thought I knew everything. But when it came down to new technology and everything growing up, you just knew.
00:24:08
Like, you were just in the mix, right? Because the Nintendo only plugged in one way. Very true. And the goddamn controllers got out of control. And that's when I'm like, what happened with a few buttons here? Anyways, I don't know. All of a sudden now that we knew, there'll literally be stuff out for years. And I'm like, what's this? And that came out three, I'm like, I never even heard of it. Like, I never even knew that was a thing. And there was no, I mean, again, I remember making fun of my dad for not knowing these things. See, it's a reality. How do you just know it, though, when you're young?
00:24:42
Because we didn't have the internet. It wasn't like we had social media. How did we know all that? Yeah, I don't know how we did it because we didn't have that, and we couldn't just text our friends and stuff like that. I mean, I got my first cell phone, I literally believe it was on my 18th birthday, and it was the brick Nokia. You know what I mean? Well, you guys, you worked for a cell phone, so you were kind of ahead of the game anyway. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sometimes I forget I worked for Nextel, because, like, you bring that up now, and everyone's like, oh, those stupid phones, like, they use this walk-in-out.
00:25:10
I'm like, yeah. Everyone thought they were so cool when they came out. And now if I saw someone walking through a store chirping into their phone, I'd be like, shut the fuck up. Who thought this was a good idea? The thing is, they were supposed to be for construction workers. Yeah. That makes sense. Not for fucking Tom walking through Walmart like a dickhead, you know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how it happened, but. I don't know. It doesn't stop my kid from walking around, you know, on FaceTime, walking around the whole time. Oh, really? Like, I had to talk to him about it because I'm like, I don't want your friends hearing what I'm saying.
00:25:47
You're just walking around on speakerphone when I'm like, you know, pissed off about something. I'm like, not everything needs to be live broadcast out of this house. Right. You know what I mean? Like, Cooper, get your ass over here. Exactly. And then his mom hears him on his end. He's like, who's he having? Yeah, exactly. And I'm like, oh, that's great. You hear about this at the Pintia meeting. So, I mean, we had to have a talk. Because I'm like, dude. But there's no such thing as phone etiquette anymore with them. No. No, yeah. I just think the kids in general. They don't. They don't. I mean, it's FaceTime.
00:26:15
And then. I mean, I was going to say, like, my kids don't FaceTime a lot. But my son does when they play video games. Like, he always has his phone, like. And I don't understand. Because I'm like, you can talk to each other in the game. Yeah. it's not the same I guess I don't I don't understand but again I that's right just stay out of it we're old that's where we're old that's exactly but we're still cool old you're so cool right right yeah we're still cool so we should probably talk about the elephant in the room that's that we're surrounded by chiefs things including your hat yes yes what are you rooting for?
00:26:47
you had Snooper going for the E-Roy so I don't know I I don't I I definitely Definitely going for the Chiefs. I got some family that's big Chiefs fans, so part of the rooting for us that way. A lot of family now, right? Yeah, a lot of family now down there. Season ticket holders and the whole deal. Listen to these guys. They bought tickets, I don't know, seven years ago or something like that. And every year that they've been season ticket holders, the Chiefs had the home. That's insane. AFC championship game. Yeah. So they've been able to sell their two tickets. It'll almost make enough to buy tickets, their season tickets again the next year.
00:27:30
Oh, my God. Because it's just those two, well, they have all kinds of friends in their neighborhood that they like to hang out with. So they're like, when it gets to the championship game, you kind of like to be around, like as awesome as we get to the game. They're like, we also have all our friends in the neighborhood that don't all have tickets. So that one's worth selling so we can watch it together. It's totally worth it. And it pays, I don't like. so like they could have went to the bills game but they they just sold their tickets yeah but they've done that they've done that every year because of the amount of money they're just like the first time they're like i just don't think we can turn this down like this is so much money especially in the beginning when they're you know people are really excited you know i think it's gone down a little bit but i mean not a ton but they're like they're there every year i mean yeah They've had like the home field advantage like every year so I heard earlier their draft class of 2022 has never not known what it's like to go to a Super Bowl To not be in a Super Bowl I'm like that's bananas You know what I mean?
00:28:26
And you got other teams like poor Josh Allen who's just like fuck man I just can't get one can I? Poor guy Yeah so I don't know where do you stand on a bunch of stuff coming out I mean you're going for the Eagles I mean I really I have a lot of cheese friends who I don't have a fucking I don't have skin in the race No, that's because, I mean, should we just tell everybody who your favorite team is? I mean, like, should we just? I'm a Browns fan. It's rough out here. No, I'm a, yeah, I'm a Rams fan. And we went further this year than I thought we would. So it's like. That you did make it rough. They got kind of hot when they needed to.
00:28:54
We, you know, people finally came back from injury. And I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse that we lost. Because I think it was going to happen regardless. And I would rather it not be, like, losing by 55 points to Saquon and Jalen Hurts running all of them. So. Yeah. But, I mean, it is what it is. But, yeah, I don't really care who wins. I'm just one of those people, if I don't care who's in it, I always like the underdog. Yeah, or they shake it up. I don't feel like an underdog. No. But it's just one of those things where it's like the Chiefs have won enough in recent. It's like when the Patriots were doing it.
00:29:27
It was like anyone but them. You know what I mean? I'm not that level with the Chiefs yet, but I'm getting there. If they win this one, I'm going to be like anyone but the Chiefs after this. But they're way more likable than the Patriots were. Way more. Yeah. wait it's not even close like how can you like hate Andy Reid like he's just right right your fat grandpa right let's go to Waffle House yeah like it just and I love that he leans into it too like dude it's so good yeah his commercials and stuff he cracks me up yeah you know like you know like you're not like that Patrick Mahomes I don't I can see how people don't like him a little bit he does a couple things that annoy me but like overall he's he's fucking good and people don't like when you're good I think he's just like I don't know that he's cool you what I mean? Like, in general, like, I think he's cool just because, like, how... I think he should be on the podcast.
00:30:15
But I mean, like... Kelsey's cool. Patrick Mahomes is probably up in the air. And Kelsey, the Kelsey brothers, they're on that thing. Is there anybody else that, like, gets so much attention that I'm not burned out on, though? You know when other people get the amount of attention with those guys? I'm annoyed with them, and I don't think it's just because... I love Jason to death. I don't know about anybody. That guy just seems so cool. Well, yeah, we smash that dude's phone at the college game. I was like good for you, right? You know what I mean? Like yeah a couple like most of the internet joined forces was like yeah fuck that kid Yeah, you know what I mean? Yeah, I'll get to go up to someone and told her called her brother Yeah, I don't even know what he called him out. I really can't hear so you know I mean, yeah, it was like this yeah, this hulking beast of a man to be like it's cool You can talk about my family. Well, yeah, and he was like no fuck you because I think you can probably talk about anything but his family.
00:31:05
That's probably my thing. You know what I mean? I think he actually, yeah. Yeah, I think that, yeah. So I just hope it's a good game. Like, you know, as a lot of our women friends say, like, I just hope both teams have fun. You know what I mean? Like, I hope there's some points. But it does get to a point where I do just want to watch a good game. Like, where it's like, you just have to watch. So it's not like. Even if the Eagles win, I don't want to see them win 50-7. You know, like, that's boring. The one thing all the Chiefs games this year have been. They've been close. Yeah, they've been close.
00:31:31
and the Eagles like if you can stop the run it's gonna be I mean you don't the Chiefs will win you know like if Saquon can't go for two touchdowns and at least 80 yards like it's gonna be really hard to for them to win I mean Hurts it can do it too so it's like you're scared yeah but that's secondary with the Chiefs I don't I don't think you can count on her yeah Saquon's gonna be the the scary one but he's so goddamn good he's amazing and that's the thing I don't like love the Eagles I fucking love Saquon I'm just likeable too like he's just like a yeah like just they just keep hard work like yeah for every game like his wife or girlfriend and their kid come on the field like he just seems like such a good good guy yeah and he's a fucking beast you know and what a cool dude I mean everyone's seen the clips of him like he doesn't care about records and and all this and I think it was what was it last season they had a clip of him where he could have beat some record he's like no let the young guys eat like didn't didn't even go back in and then this year now Granted, they wanted to sit him, but he said, if you guys think that's best, then fine.
00:32:31
Yeah. There's a lot of guys. Like, if that was a receiving thing and it was Tyreek, he'd be like, fuck you. I'm going out there and getting this. You know what I mean? So, if it was me. Well, yeah. Yeah. Throw ourselves under the bus. Yeah. I want to go out of the history books. Yeah. I want the history books. Yeah. I mean, I think he's still going to be in there for a few things, but. Yeah. I mean, I'd still be like, you know, all records are meant to be broken. I hope mine gets broke, you know, blah, blah. But not really. Not really. Not really. Yeah, yeah, somebody else's yeah good. I didn't I think it's gonna be a good game You know, hopefully no shenanigans go down and you know, it's it's you know, no one gets sick or there's no you know I'm already sick of the the chiefs are cheating thing and like just all this stuff. Let's hit on that What do you think about that? Like for real? Like when everyone's like I can't stand that People think it's rigged. You know, I mean that that they think it's I I just think that's such a shitty way to go through life.
00:33:28
If you're watching something, it's rigged, it's rigged, it's rigged. Because you're ruining it for yourself. It's ruining, because the sport, if you look at it that way, right? If you say they're cheating, then how did they make Josh Allen not get a first down? How did they make you fumble? How did they make you get an interview? How did the refs do that? They didn't. You still put yourself in a position to lose. I will say, I saw an interview, I think it was Bill Burr. I think it was Rich Eisenhower. Did you see that? And I've literally, before I even saw him, this is how I said it. I was like, I don't think they cheat, but I think they get a chance to go like, give him a little bit.
00:34:04
And I'm not saying it's swinging the games like crazy, but I think Burr said, you know, they're not jacking him off. They're slashing him a little bit. It's like, yeah, if you put yourself in a predicament where it's a really tough angle and it could be a first-rounder, they're going to go like, I'm still thinking this. You know what I mean? And that's okay. There's also just shit refs and there's shit calls. Or just every season. Or you know how fucking hard it is to make a call on the field. You know what I mean? Right.
00:34:34
It's easy on TV. It is not at all. It is not. It's got to be one of the hardest things to ever do. Think of the best seats you've ever had at a basketball game, a football game. We went to one Iowa game. We were on the field. You didn't see shit. You're looking through giant men. Yeah. And you're like, how the fuck are you supposed to do this? Okay, on top of that, imagine having 40,000 people watch you do your job. Yeah. That's just at the stadium. Yeah. So imagine you're at work tomorrow. There's 40,000 people watching you do it. And they have a rewind button. Yeah. They have a rewind button.
00:35:10
They got a pause button. But they're just watching. So then you feel that many eyes on you. That doesn't even count TV. Yeah. Oh, and by the way, there's somebody yelling at you all the time. Because the coach just yells. No matter what. Both coaches. So you're just getting yelled at all the time. It doesn't sound very fun. I mean, what reps campaign? Not enough. I mean, clearly not enough. Clearly not enough. Yeah. Can you look at that? Can you look at it? But, well, fuck half of it. It's a part-time job. Because that one was like a lawyer. Like, Ed Hockeyley or whatever. Remember, he was like a lawyer.
00:35:48
Yeah. he's like yeah yeah he's a fucking but because a beefcake NFL referees and this is Gemini giving me some info here but NFL referees make on average uh 205,000 per year during the regular season that's not a bad part-time job but not bad yeah I thought it was gonna be less than that I thought it'd be like 1 125 or something like that because it's part-time yeah good I mean that's you have here's the thing you have to pay them and I mean we said how it's no matter what it's not enough That's not bad, but not only I'm feeling like it's not only for the scrutiny You have to pay them enough to make them want to do it really good Cuz you're right you pay them 60 grand they're like I'm gonna throw some bets down and fuck with some shit You know what I mean?
00:36:31
You gotta pay them enough that they want to come back every year or then I think then I think they get incentives like if they make it to the Super You know if they're the voted on refs that way it says Super Bowl Referees who officiate the Super Bowl can earn up to $50,000 just for that game. It's a nice little bonus It's just like their little incentive at the end of the year. You know what I mean? Still, imagine that. Like, I'm not that, like, you have to be, I'm just not that, like, set on my opinion or, like, what I see. Like, I could be this way for sure. Yeah. Like, you know, if one of those coaches is just jawing at me, I'd be like, okay, sir.
00:37:11
Yeah. Or, like, just some really nice guys. Like, God, who was, like, the nicest guy ever? Like, Andrew Luck, right? Remember? Yeah. Yeah, I know. I mean, like, yeah, good guy. Yeah, you're, you know, it's like, all right, I can give you one. It's fine. You've been sacked a lot. You deserve this one. That bastard took a lot of points with. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think they're cheating. I think if anything, it is coming down to you're putting yourself in these close games against them. You know, it's okay. It's like in UFC or mixed martial arts or whatever. It's like, I don't know if that's the best example, but you have to beat the champ.
00:37:57
These fights that it was so close. You can't tell. No one really got knocked down. It just comes down to punch his throne, and it's like no one really knows. They're going to give it to the champ. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
00:38:10
It's like when they go to beat the champs. You've got to knock out the champ. There's indisputable evidence. And if there's not, then you left it up to chance, and that's kind of on you. Yeah. Well, there you go. Put that on the list of something you don't want to do to be a ref, but it would be. No, man, $205,000 for part-time. I'm having some second thoughts on it. You're doing some shit with the rest of my time. I just.
00:38:32
So. You can do a lot of running. Cardio has got to be on point. Sure. Some of those guys are like 70. It's crazy. I know. And some of them are jacked. Yeah. I do miss Big Ed. He was a monster. But there's another one that's out there. Yeah, there's a couple. Yeah, but black dude, too. Just got it worked going on. That's why he doesn't get jawed at. They come over and he's like, yes, and he's like, never mind. It's cool. Well, I mean, at some point, you have to kind of be like, it's almost like being a cop. You have to have this certain, like, you know what I mean? This like a little bit of a Yeah not threatening but like you need to be able to hold your own Yeah Yeah you not like us You not going to be swayed Yeah And son does it now Shaun Is he really Is he jacked like his dad?
00:39:15
He looks similar, but he's not as but. He's got to get on that HGH with his dad's on. You know what I'm saying? Are you going to bet it? Are you bet this is... I will. I could sit here and say I won't and I'm lying to myself. I know I won't. I constantly say I'm going to stop betting on sports and I'm never going to. It's too fun. Now I am good. I'm not a degenerate gambler. I'm not throwing down like 50 bucks a day on bets or a hundred, you know, if I want a lot, then we go, but it's like, I, I also don't like just doing straight bets or they're not fun to me. Like, yeah, put down 50 to win 50.
00:39:48
It's like, yeah, that's a really good return on your money. But like, I'm in it more for the adrenaline part of it. So it's like, I'd rather throw it on like five to win like 900. You know what I mean? And it's like, yeah, they really don't hit barely ever. But when you do, you're like, I fucking did it. I made back my last three months of money. You're every casino's dream. I'm here for the thrill. They're like, there we go. Yep. Payment. That's exactly what I am. That's why I didn't go to a casino, Shaun. I got news for you. That little app in your hand is just a casino that you don't want. Don't ask you, Shaun.
00:40:23
Yeah. No, if I go to a casino, I'm playing poker because I can sit down with X amount of dollars. When it's gone, I can just get the fuck out of there. I've never been into slots and stuff like that. I liked slots when I knew what was going on. Now you pull the trigger. I have no clue. And Ashley loves all that. No, no one knows what's going on. I said that to Ashley. I'm like, how do you even know what's going on? She's like, I don't. I just see what. Whatever it says. And I'm like. And that's like this many lines and this much per line. And you realize there's 97 lines right now. And you're spinning every five seconds.
00:40:51
Yeah. You have no idea what's going on. No idea. So don't act like you do. None. So I will bet on it. I think I'll just do something simple, though. Like, I mean, I think you'd be an idiot to not bet the money line for the Chiefs, but the money is on the Eagles. So I'll probably take the Eagles because I like the high reward. I'll probably take, like, Saquon for at least a touchdown, maybe Hurts for a touchdown. And then the question is, like, who on the Chiefs is going to score? That's fucking all over the place all the time. Like, it could be. Especially now, yeah. Yeah. Because you used to be able to count on Travis.
00:41:25
It would always be him. Not this year. Not this year. And now it's like Worthy, or could it be Hunt, or is it going to be... Well, shit, they got three goddamn running backs. I mean, they got three legit running backs that were scored. Didn't Perrine get one last week? Yeah. I don't think he's had one. He didn't. Oh, that's what he got. Yeah, yeah. I just hadn't heard his name. Well, Mahomes got two, right? Or didn't he have... He wasn't in the game until that first down. He didn't play his second downs until that first down. That's like that... That's that fucking team, though. You know what I mean?
00:41:52
Like, Andy Reid, all of a sudden he goes in. You know what I mean? He gets it. A few years ago when the backup quarterback came in and won the game off, you know, it's like. Well, they got receivers they have that, like, they barely use. Like, they've got Juju. Yeah. They've got fucking Hopkins. Yeah. And they barely play. You know what I mean? It's like they're still, like, good receivers. But he's like, ah. I think Hopkins plays. He does. And Juju comes in and out. Yeah. That's my point. Yeah. He'll bet on somebody to get a touchdown, and Juju will be like, oh, I haven't been in a couple weeks.
00:42:23
And I'll go score a touchdown. And you're like, motherfucker. I just, that's why I think I'm better off just not betting on anyone for the Chiefs, because I have no idea what's going to happen. And some guys throw down, like, who's going to score the first touchdown. I'm like, dude, you got fucking no... So you ever done those bets, like the prop bets? Oh, yeah. So every time, I always time the national anthem. Because there's a bet on the national anthem. They'll set an over-under, and you bet over-under on the national anthem. Hold the fuck on. Actually, I have a prop bets. Can you Google some of the prop bets?
00:42:57
I'm going to assume. Yeah, well, I know you do this in Vegas. This was, like, the big thing for years. It would be, like, who's going to get the first down? Who's going to win the coin toss? Like, you could bet on all that stuff. It was all prop bets in the beginning. Oh, Jesus Christ. That's getting to degenerate levels. Well, if that feels like something you're on board for. So the first list that came up was weirdest and silliest Super Bowl 2025 prop. Oh, fuck. Will a player or coach cry during the National Anthem? Oh, that's taking the over on that. So not just a head coach, any coach. Because, you know, there's always, like.
00:43:37
Player or coach. Oh, for sure. There's always a player. There's always a lineman that's just, you know, like. That's a lock because, well, and it is minus 430. Oh. Chris Jones cries every time. Yeah. Well, but if they don't show him. If they don't show him, that's the thing. Yeah, hold on. How do you do that? It's like, well, I didn't see it, but then they find a clip, you know, and they're like, can't honor the bet. Yeah, I don't know. That's weird. Will Travis Kelsey propose?
00:44:04
No. There's nothing. Everyone thinks it's going to happen, so I'm going to say no. No way. That was in the leaked script. No, I bet. Taylor's going to. Yeah. they're gonna embrace he's gonna get down yeah and she's gonna kick him and then he's gonna retire after that and they're gonna live happily ever after and make a bunch of giant babies that can sing really well god what are those kids gonna do rule the world they don't have to do anything there were a million dollars not generational well so that method having Travis's money and being the broke one right you know like they go to dinner and they're like a son of car shoes you're so funny bless your heart that's my man what's he doing with his money he goes to his mailbox there's just checks yeah he's like i forget to check it sometimes because no he's with all the fuck kelsey yeah they're getting all right what else we got sorry uh who are the other guests during kendrick kendrick's halftime since uh all right that one's been confirmed though yeah this would be like surprise guests yeah okay i would bet on that one i'm excited for the halftime show but i like kendrick lamar yeah you probably don't you are so yeah i had no idea yeah it's like no like so yeah i'm all of his music when he was young he has very good tasting but now like if it wasn't for him i would never hear of anything new i don't listen to the radio i listen to podcasts and shit it's like he sends me songs and i'm like i love this and i download
00:45:36
it and then i'll fall in love with whoever it was and download their whole thing yeah because Kids don't listen to music like we, I mean they listen to it, but they'll show that they have the AirPods in or something like that they're doing it. And Cooper, him and his buds got into Eminem a ton a few years ago. They were playing games and I'm like, nice. And then I'm like, what, are you going to move on to somebody else? It was like, he would hold on for a little too long. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just don't think he's hit that interest yet of music. But it's ruined. and you know what I mean like middle school it's it's it's it's coming up so yeah yeah I think it will be a plus it's just fun when they have a like a rapper because then you get to go to anything posted about the hacktip show and just laugh at all the comments of like 50 year old white women like I don't know that's when I go to the bathroom I can't understand anything he's saying yeah I saw a comment the other day like I and I don't even know how I stumbled upon it but it was a lady and she's like well I guess there's gonna be a lot of toilets being flushed at that time and she looked like the most Karen of Karens you've ever seen.
00:46:36
I mean, she looked like that mom from John and Kate Plus 8. Oh, the haircut, the whole fucking thing. Looked just like her. And so I literally read the comments, and I was like, why don't you yell at mayonnaise and it's spicy? And I got so many people like, oh, shit! And I was like, that's right. I got you.
00:46:54
She didn't respond. You like to drop your lines in there a little bit, don't you? I do. I do. I don't do it a lot. I don't argue with strangers a lot. I like to drop just, like, one little line. And then I'll go back and, like, see whatever one says to that. But that's it. I don't say anything all the time. Just stir in the pod. I feel like I'm just working out world peace, you know? We've got to get these fights out of the way so we can all love each other. As long as there's a fight there? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, any other good facts? Will there be a power outage? Oh, remember that happened? That was a few years ago.
00:47:29
That was the... Will a titty pop out? Ooh. Do you remember? We were together watching that. Do you remember that? Were we? Yeah, I can tell you where. We were at Ashley's parents in the basement watching it. I wasn't there. Why? Ashley was there. It's your wife. Now. I think this was the time when we had broke up a little bit. I wasn't there. I wasn't at that one. Oh my god, really? Yeah, because I was trying to remember where I watched it. I don't know why but I was never Because but what happened? Yeah, I was not at the Super Bowl at her parents. Like I remember, you know For every reason. Yeah God, can we edit this part out?
00:48:18
Kick a man ways down here. Yeah My life really sucked and you know you're no like I was there so I'm crying I'm still cool, right? It's fine.
00:48:34
Give us another good one. There's not your job props, which is like a quarterback to record a reception. Oh, that's smart. A quarterback to throw a touchdown. Offensive lineman to score a touchdown. That's a good one. When the offensive line just gives him the ball. Yeah, yeah. You bet. Did you see my home spike the other day? No, he did. Spike? Yeah, when he snored. He went to spike the ball, and it just flies out of his hand, and it doesn't even go to the ground. It almost takes out a cameraman. He throws it and falls off the front of it and goes forward and bounces towards his cameraman. And it's like, it was the worst pass he threw all day.
00:49:18
Did he look defeated after that? No, he just kind of played it off, but you can tell. Was it Romo? Who was he announcing? It was Romo and... Did they have that game? Yeah, because I think it was Romo. He's like, ooh, that was the worst pass he's thrown on there or something like that. He's like, that's why I don't spike them. He tried to go for it, like, hard. Like, you know, you just... If I was him, I would have just leaned into him, and even when I don't try to throw good passes, I still throw it. I don't know. No, I'm sad I missed that. I'll have to find the clip. It's worth it. Because, like, especially now.
00:49:59
Now that the Internet's got a hold of it and, like, they slow it down and then make noise. Well, because he plays into some of, like, the things people hate about. Like, he puts ketchup on his steak. I know that's not a big deal, but it's easy to be like, why would you do that, right? But, like, then he became – wasn't he, like, a spokesman for Heinz, like, that next year? Oh, I mean – And they just showed him, like, putting ketchup on steak and, you know. I mean, good for him. He can do whatever he wants. He's good. You know what I mean? He can eat ketchup on his steak. I'm not going to do it, but he can do it.
00:50:29
I've done it. I've done it when I was a kid. I've done ketchup on eggs before. I don't anymore, but when I was a kid, I did. It's like, I know adults that still do that. I think it's weird, but I did it. You did? You were a kid. I did. Okay. But you got out of it? I got out of it. Because most of the people connected to that. Then I found hot sauce. I was like, oh, I'm going to have to put a sriracha or salsa or whatever. Yeah. But yeah, no, I couldn't do it anymore. Ketchup also, I feel like it's something you just kind of grew up. Like I still eat ketchup like a hot dog But I don't eat ketchup much Really?
00:51:00
Like even if I get french fries I get like I'll dip them in barbecue sauce Oh my god Is that not good? I mean is that un-American? Or it may be super American I don't know I mean barbecue sauce Is pretty American you know but like It feels like I remember like my sister Doing that shit like that became Before ranch got cool no barbecue sauce was cool. Like it went like ketchup and then like I remember like my sister's like younger than me being like they would always dip their shit in barbecue sauce. You just like it. I don't know what it is. And then we'd always keep the barbecue sauce. We always had that cookies barbecue sauce.
00:51:38
That shit's trash. But the kids would, like my sisters and their kids would eat that shit and I've always been a ketchup guy. Yeah. Still? Yeah. I mean I'll dip it in ranch or whatever but I like ketchup like with fries. You know what I mean? Like. Have you ever seen someone dip their fries in sour cream no my sister does it and I thought it was weird and I said it so long so I can't tons of people do that well I think you have to have the right cutter fry if you have a big thick one I can see like I didn't like a edge like a wedge you're like yeah fry yeah I mean I do like sour cream yeah I mean I don't I like most things yeah we both eat yeah that's right hey no quitter yeah okay so i am curious what do you think about movies these days i don't get to watch enough of them i here's here's me watching a movie i get excited i finally have a night to myself i'm like i'm gonna watch a movie um i go to the program i use that's totally legal by the way and every movie available is on it yeah and i fucking i'm like boom let's go and for two hours I search through movies and then I go to bed.
00:52:51
Like you're overwhelmed. Yeah. But I love doing it. I'm like, I just like look and look and look. And then I, about an hour in, you're like, I'm a piece of shit. Like I just wasted an hour doing nothing. And I do it more. And I'm like, well, now it's too late. I don't want to start a movie. Like, cause then I'll be up till midnight. So I'm going to bed. You know why? Cause you can't channel surf anymore. Do you remember channel? I mean, back in the day when you could channel surf. I mean, now that's what it is looking through. Yeah. Here's the thing though. I have another program that's fully legal, by the way, that has live TV.
00:53:21
Like, every channel. Canada channel. Every fucking channel you can manage. You could surf. But also, when you're on it, you see what's on the channels. Maybe there was something to not knowing what was on. And it's like you just had to click. Yeah. Because remember, like, a movie would come up. Well, I mean, now you scroll. But back in the day, you used to click. Click. You used to click. You know, like. That's what it is. I mean, I remember when I could hammer the buttons. And I'd go from 2 to 17. And just like, ding, ding, ding, ding. You know what I mean? and then the 28, and then it was like, there we go, and then back around the horn again.
00:53:51
Actually has said you have great thumbs. It's like people say about me and boy, I used to eat snacks. Remember my small hands? Oh, my God. I'm going to find that picture. One day we got, oh, my God. I have that picture. It's on Facebook. I don't understand. It doesn't make sense. We took a picture one time. We were at, what was it? It was Valentine's Day at Riverside. Us and our wives. Yeah, and I like, I don't know, I'm doing some little posts. In my hand, a certain way. Just looks. I mean, I don't have a big hand anyways, but it looks so small. Well, it's not a Burger King commercial where the guy's like, I got these tiny hands.
00:54:27
It's funny that the one thing would be like, yeah. He said that for like two years. Shaun was like, well, I got these tiny hands. I don't know. He just moved at this angle where it's like it looked like a baby fist. And I was like, what is wrong with your hand? Anyways. All right. Nice movie. Yeah. All right. Okay. And I even make lists like something good will show up and I'm like, I'll make a note of it. Like, I need to watch this. but then I'll get on there to watch it and it's like these are other ones you can watch and I start scrolling I don't know what's wrong with it when's the last time you were in a movie theater not that long ago fuck what did we see Moana 2 you paid for that shit Moana 1 is my favorite Disney movie of all time Moana 2 is not that good you don't like Moana I don't not like it it's not movie theater worthy Like, I don't know.
00:55:15
I mean. Dude, what's your favorite kids movie? Like animated. Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I got to think about it. Toy Story was one of my favorites. That's a good one. I hope you make a new one. Are they? No. That's what I heard. What else did I like? I don't know. Lion King. Aladdin. God, you're old. I know. Megamind, because that was Sophie. See, mine was so underrated. Sophie, when she was a kid, we'd always have to watch Megamind. I still quote that movie. My giant blue head. Yeah.
00:55:52
Yeah, Milano 2 was the last one I went to, but we went to Long Legs, that Nicolas Cage horror movie. Oh, it was fucking good. Well, mixed reviews. I thought it was good. You're a Nick Cage guy. You're an apologist for Nick Cage. I didn't expect to get into that episode one. Yes, I am a Nick Cage apologist. I will defend. We'll have to come back to that one because, you know what? I like him too. See? We do need to come back to this at a later date, though, because I finally got Kara to watch Face Off. We almost broke up. It wasn't good. So, yeah. I'm going to watch him while. Does it hold up? I think it does.
00:56:31
I mean, look, there's some action scenes and some body doubles that they didn't do good at. You know what I mean? There's a couple parts of him flying through there, and you're like, that is not Nicolas Cage. They didn't even try a high net. You know what I mean? I paused it in parts before, but like, ooh, they just gave up. But like the story, while far-fetched, it's still great, you know? Sure. It's a good movie. It holds up. Okay. It also helps that it's like my favorite movie. What about you? It was the last movie you saw. Who's the last movie you saw in a theater? It sounds like you have a point in a theater.
00:57:01
I haven't been to a theater. I don't even know. As I asked you that question, I'm like, I'm going to be with the last one in a theater, though. Well, I like it, too. I just, here's, I don't remember what we went to. I know the four of us with the family and I was so pissed Like I even know no because we sat there and after I paid to get in and then pop and everything else I'm like sat down and like oh spent like $120 like whatever and I'm like This is fucking stupid. I was like I just sat there Yeah, movie like It's been I remember the point when the kids got up like it's over. I'm like sit down We're watching that screen until it goes black.
00:57:42
It might be another scene. I don't care if they're in here sweeping. We paid for this whole movie. We're watching all of it until that screen. We're watching every name that goes up. That's fair, though. It is. It's one of those things. I was like, yeah, let's go do a movie. Yeah, sounds good. And then I remember being like, it was this much. I'm like, oh, yeah, okay. And then popcorn and everything. Yeah, yeah. Jesus Christ. It's insane. my like my we go on it well so i had darts always on tuesdays and now i'm not gonna anymore on tuesdays it's like cheap yeah so it's like if you're smart you wait till tuesday and go then because even the concessions are cheaper then so it's still expensive but and i was always you know i've heard that you sneak it in bring whatever and i'm just like not i'm because i'm like if i'm gonna be there i don't want to do that because if i like watching a movie i want them to stay open So like, you know what I mean?
00:58:32
Like I wasn big into sneaking in popcorn They sell beer now they be fine Can imagine what that fucking costs for a beer It a lot It a lot I have the bladder of an ankle You sound like the cheapest bastard in the world in this whole podcast. I mean, literally. I had a talk with an old lady in Hy-Vee about three months ago. All we did for 15 minutes. I don't know this lady. She's elderly by a lot. All we did was complain about the price of everything for about 15 minutes. Was she a patron? Was she shopping? Or did she work there? I'm like, I think I was buying like cashews or something, and she was looking at nuts too.
00:59:08
Yeah, she was. Yeah, she was. Yeah, she was. And I'm just like, I can't believe how expensive these have gotten. Talking to myself, right? And she goes, can you believe it? And I was like, I can't fucking believe this. And she's like, last week, she had to buy like macadamia nuts. And she's like, they've went up in a week, they've went up. She's like, plus they've went up like over the last year. And we just, it spiraled. And all we talked about was like the price of things. I should have got her number because we get along great like I would get I would grab coffee with her anytime You know, I'm not like that's one of those reader actually just want to hug when you're done. I know you have a good I hope you I hope you have a good day My place like I'll pay for macadamia nuts Well, I'm glad you know that that's the thing is like I thought I've never felt older than after that But it seemed I was like it's fucking absurd, but you've never felt better I felt understood I felt seemed yeah, you know Yeah, so when you say I sound like the cheapest bass forever, it's like you're not man Like there's a lot of us out there and they also wonder if they're still cool. So yeah, it's I can tell you It's like the least cool thing you can do is Complain about prices. So we'll take that off the you know Maybe that's what we need is a little scoreboard that you keep track of of like cool comments and definitely not like Complain about the price of something that's in the not cool comment That's all subjective if people listening to this are our age they're going no i agree so to them that's cool but yeah i think even people that agree with you are like yeah sean help me help you okay
01:00:41
i'm just saying i'm just saying i think that this is something i think we can lean into something i think we got something here yeah i mean are we so cool i don't know maybe it's like is this cool or not yeah probably not i don't think we're gonna want to see a lot of the I think they're going to add it fast. But I think it's okay when you know it. It's when you think it's cool and you get the big ax that it's like, oh, you're fated. You feel bamboozled. Yeah, you come in hot. You got all that cocky liberal arts confidence. Yeah, I lost a year of my life. You took a career out. It happened to me one year.
01:01:24
I think I was like 38, or I was 39. I thought I'd swear I was 38. And someone told me I didn't believe when I did the math and I was like, I just lost a whole fucking year Like I legit now I was depressed because I'm like I'm so close to 40. I thought I had another year like No, I walked around cocky as hell of being 44 and talking about it and Ashley goes How old are you they go 44 she's like are you sure I go, you know I go I know how she's like are you sure over and over again time like not so sure you took a year of my life you know I mean I am walking around with this like not 45 yet confidence and you're married to her but I don't ask you pretty good so I guarantee you we're sitting there going like fuck she's right right away because it's like she's always right yeah you know what she's wrong she's right well yeah that's just because she's really good at arguing yeah yeah amazing amazing if it was a big sport there are other people out there that know what I deal with. She's so good. She's good. She just gets mad at me because I wouldn't argue with her. We'd have a partner or something, she'd say something, she's like, what, you're not a-f-son center? That's kind of the point that we've got to. She's like, what? I'm like, I'm just not even going to argue. Yeah. And she's like, really? You're just going to accept it? I'm like, yep.
01:02:36
And it drove her crazy. She's like, how can you do that? I'm like, like this. She has an unbelievably, unbelievable ability to retain knowledge. And she'll just pull it out. And you're like, I love her for it because I mean that's all when she's on your side. You're good. You're good. Yeah Yeah, like if something goes wrong, you're like, oh, you're piss her off. I go get him, honey Get in there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you guys are fucked now. Yeah, like behind her. She's holding you Yeah, I told you. Yeah, that's where man sometimes she's so much more manly than I He's she's like you're gonna take that I'm like, yeah honey i'm gonna do it in the bath so relax yeah i mean that yeah that's i have so much to say right now but at the same time i don't want to yes i i am the epitome of like like i mean cara's even learning this is like you know i have i'm very manly in a lot of ways but i got some big ass ovaries you know what i mean like i god i can be a little you are a softy i'm a softy i like i can't I can't help, I've spent like 30 years trying to fight it, and I just learned you can't, you just gotta.
01:03:49
You just lean into it, right? You just gotta lean into it. Like, if there's a sad movie, I'm going to cry. It's just gonna happen. I can't cry. Ever? I just can't. Like, it's not, like, I'll get, like. Soul is. No, I know. Every now and then I'll get, like, a little tear. Like, I get them, like, with my kids every now and then. You know what I mean? But I get it with, like, they'll do something, like, they'll be on stage for one of their stupid Christmas concerts. They're not like it's not like they're solo or anything like that. I'm just like I'm proud of it or whatever. Or the kids will do that to me.
01:04:23
But I just don't like sometimes I just want a good cry. It just doesn't come out. Feels good. I bet. I'm not like I'm ready for one. I'm ready for like Imagine when you do cry. Like, oh, it's going to be. I wonder that I won't stop. Yeah. You've never cried at a movie. Yeah. There has to be. But if I do, I just get very quick. Armageddon. Well, I loved Armageddon. Most people saw Armageddon. That would be, you want to talk about movies, that's one of my favorite movies. We went and saw it, I think, nine times in the theater. Like, it used to be me and our friends, like, that's what we did on Sunday night.
01:05:07
Like, it would be like we'd go out. We'd be at the bars drinking or whatever. And then it'd be a Sunday night. And it'd be like, hey, want to go to a movie? Yeah. Should we go see? Oh, my God. We stopped like nine weeks in a row. We did like basketball.
01:05:20
That's because there was a secret. You brought that up. I wanted to talk about this. Okay. Baseball? No. Well, so, baseball, I thought was funny. I didn't think it was ridiculously funny. I thought it was good. But the guy that I watched it with the first time had the laugh that obnoxious like Oh, so I ruined it for you. Oh, oh, I just laughed the whole time and he just And I just laughed the whole time at his laugh. It was the first time I ever really hurt like it was someone that I knew like what It does happen though some even his laugh just shocked me and it was so loud and I just you know when we talk about I just laughed the whole time at that and then the next time I'm watching like this movie being a star yeah hey come over everyone will watch this again yeah yeah what about old yellow I've never seen that I never see you know what happens yeah I've never seen you know hold on that's the shit I won't watch it with animal okay so there's that is your big like like you'll watch them get their head cut off but if an animal's like no like no kids no animals yeah i could dude i could watch you get this member right no i'm kidding i'm kidding but like no no no no like oh because i love you but like if i saw like anything to an adult especially if i don't know him it's like uh that is what it is you know what i mean like but kids kids i can't do and animals like there's that movie marley and me oh i've never seen it but i fucking could tell by the theater by the trailer what was gonna happen and i was like and for that
01:06:53
reason I'm out I did not watch it and I said that some moments are like well you're right and I'm like I know I don't even need to hear it and I'm not watching that movie yeah yeah you probably shouldn't I'm not no I will tell the first movie I ever cried at that's when I learned I never kidnapped Mike and you want to punish him you just put that movie on and make him watch that thing better fucking keep my eyes peeled I'm not watching it yeah I don't know why I remember the first movie I credit but I think it's because it really had never happened before and I was like either in high school or just out of high school and it was a movie called hardball with Keanu yeah I well I remember the movie I never watched but here's a baseball coach yeah this fucking the kid had to get home after dark or whatever like for dark like yeah he kept telling them and like I remember that part of it that I remember I think I fell asleep yeah some of the kid man and it was just like the cutest little dude and that was like that fucking ruined me I was like I'm never watching movies I I don't think I watched a movie for like six months because I was so pissed off.
01:07:51
Yeah. So. But yeah, like now, it's harder to get to me now. Now it's got, now it's mostly like, like I said, it's just kids and, like I can watch Love Shit. Like, that doesn't really bother me. But don't fuck with animals or kids. Yeah. Anything else? I get oddly like patriotic too during like the Olympics. Do you? Yeah. You get a little hard at the National League? I do, but I think, I think it's more for like the, the athletes that put in the work. You know what I mean? That get to do it. And, like, to me, I can't think of anything cooler than your reward as you sit there and listen to the national anthem being played for what you did.
01:08:29
For you. Like, you did it. You know what I mean? Like, to me, that is, like. They train their whole life. Well, I know. But I'm just thinking, like, if anything, you know, like, as a reward or acknowledgement of being the best, of whatever it was, if it was literally standing on a pedestal and the national anthem plays in your honor, that's, it always gets me. This is why the football players cry. It just gets me. I don't know. Why doesn't he meet Michael Phelps or any of those people and say the refs gave it to him?
01:08:59
I was just thinking about that. Because they're not the Russian judges. He touched the wall first. You can literally show it. Not like when he was in the Olympics. How good were the Olympics? We watched every single night. You would have told me ever in my life without that happening that I'm going to enjoy watching a dude swim. I would have told you you're out of your goddamn life. Okay, so this brings me to something I want to talk about with sports. I think we miss greatness. Like, we don't appreciate just watching greatness a lot. We don't.
01:09:37
Well, it's gone. Yeah. And I don't want to be that person anymore, right? I remember the, so I obviously, you know, I grew up, I golfed a lot. And it was always the big, are you a Phil Mickelson guy or are you a Tiger Woods guy? And I was Phil Mickelson. I like, I get sick of Tiger, you know, all the time, blah, blah, until Tiger went away. Yeah, until he went away. And then I was like, oh, like, that sucks. Yeah. I want him, like, I want Tiger back so bad. And then when he won, you know, the Masters after he had come back the last time that he won it, it was, like, amazing.
01:10:14
But I think about that, and it's like, you just lost all that time. Like, there's nobody. Now I turn on golf, hoping somebody can be like that again will do it like that, and they're not. You know what I mean? It's just, like, it's just him. You know what I mean? And so. I never realized when he was good how good, like, I. How unbelievably good it was. You know what I mean? Like, to see that. There's some stats now where you'll read it, and you're like, that can't be fucking true. Right. Like, who's been in the lead now forever?
01:10:41
Scotty Schaeffler or whatever? Yeah, Schaeffler. Schaeffler. He's been ranked one for a long time now. And they said, like, he would have to see him. But he's the biggest yawn ever. Oh, I know. Like, he looks like the best human and just a good guy, but it could be more boring. Yeah. It was like when the frickin' Spurs were winning. Yeah. It's a nut. Yeah. And they're just like, it's just, they're not fun. like there's no I like him as human I root like he looks like a great person and probably is a great dad and good to charity and all that stuff but it's like there's nothing that gives me this like you know and I miss that with you know and yeah I would wish for it to be back so much that I don't want to miss that sort of stuff again with Phelps the same way yeah I think I realized with Phelps a little bit more than every year I was like I knew which you know every olympic it's gonna go away and tiger was born to play golf right but but even i know he's not as exciting but it's like he's he's now been ranked one for a very long time yeah they showed a stat the other day saying like he would have to stay number one for like 12 straight years to do what tiger did oh sure that's fucking insane like that sounds like a made-up stat yeah like there's so many of those i'm obsessed with i'm not a stats guy but those stats where it's like that doesn't even feel like it could even be humanly possible at one point the way that they did the golf rankings and I don't know what they all were but at one point I know when Tiger had done so much that he didn't even have to golf for three years and still would have been the number one player before anybody could have caught him because he was so far just because of all the other things
01:12:13
he had already hit that that was it was and I don't hold me to that three years two years six months whatever I know it was like he didn't have to golf for a long time yeah but then they changed how that happened so then because forever it's just like Tiger was just number like the only thing the change was two all the way down, you know what I mean? So then it was going from there. So now they change that a little bit to where it rotates a little bit more, probably a little bit more. Yeah, and you know a lot more about golf than I do, but I just, now that he doesn't do it anymore, I find myself watching old clips of it, and I'm like, fuck!
01:12:52
I just had to watch this when it was happening. It sucks. It's my algorithm. It happens all the time. like top 10 to like well I guess I'm here for 10 shots of Tiger Woods to see what's gonna happen here you know what I mean like the same thing kind of happened to me with Kobe like I always knew Kobe was awesome yeah right and I saw some of his games it was like but I was never like a massive Kobe fan right he died and then they start showing how fucking great he was and all these stories come out like what a hard worker he was yeah like he wasn't the best he just worked harder than everybody yeah and you're like well fuck right yeah exactly exactly exactly and that is all on me But yeah, that is a sad thing.
01:13:27
I think that translates, not to get too serious, but like it's not just sports. It's like it's so easy to lose sight of what's important when you're in it. Yeah. Until it's gone. And then you're like, oh, fuck. Like I definitely should have appreciated that more. Yeah, just appreciate what's going on. Like how cool it is that you're seeing that. So again, Chiefs will win. This is where we're at. We're all back to it. You missed me. Sam, but you were talking about Tiger. And I was like, has he won all the time? You were like, yeah. And you kept going. I was like, like the Chiefs? Yeah, exactly. Going for three in a row.
01:13:56
We're going to see history happen. This is a big deal here. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but no NFL teams won at three in a row. The Patriots won seven, but they didn't win three in a row. No. I think they're the first to beat in the Super Bowl three times in a row. Oh, I thought. Can you look at it? You think the Pats did it? Oh, okay. And maybe the Steelers might have done it, too? Cowboys. Oh, that makes sense in the 90s. Yeah. But three in a row? I don't think they ever lost. The Cowboys never lost in the 90s. They didn't. I don't remember them ever losing a Super Bowl. The Packers were the first to win two.
01:14:30
It was probably the first three Super Bowls. Eight teams have won back-to-back. No, I'm just saying being in three in a row. Who's went to three? Went to three in a row. I'm not saying that they won it. Because you're saying you think the Chiefs are the first. The first team to even be in three Super Bowls in a row. Why am I thinking that the Patriots went to three in a row and just lost one? Because they lost one to the. I felt like they were always two years and then off and then two years and then they went away for like ten years and then yeah because then they went five and seven years so that would be two off to yeah I don't know the Dolphins were the first team to reach three straight Super Bowls and then they lost the third one oh no he did I think he went to one no he never won The Patriots made three straight Super Bowls, but lost.
01:15:27
What year was that? 2016 through 2018, and they lost to 2017. Okay. So when they would have lost to the Giants? Well, yeah, okay, then I was wrong on that. They're the first one that has a – if they win, then they'd be the first one to have been three in a row. I know that. Which, I think that is, you know, to keep a team together and go to two is fucking insane. Yeah. So to do it three times, I mean, yeah, it's already crazy. And like I said, I just hope it's a good game. I'm sure, I'm confident it will be. Yeah. Well, I think both the teams, I mean, yeah, I think that, I think the Eagles are good enough to win, and the Chiefs just seem to play teams close.

So then it should set up for a close game. did you see the clip of Jason and Travis talking? And a caller called in or whatever was like, or wrote in, saying like, so Eagles, do you want to run for it? And he's like, I love my brother. I want the Eagles to win. And Travis was like, you son of a bitch. It makes sense. He's like, I hope Travis has a great game. I hope he does really good. Yeah. I want the Eagles to. I'm like, you know what? That's just dedication. It's like he was there his whole career. Like, I get it. Yeah, I think that's, yeah. And I think he's still really involved with that team, too.

So I think that makes sense. Plus Travis B. I mean, they kind of like, yeah, that guy, right? He's probably a little salty. So, yeah. That's funny. Who knows? Well, do you guys want to close out with a dad joke of the day? I think there's no better way to end this than if you got one. Let's see what I got here. This works out with the microphone I'm going to turn on here. How do you find Will Smith in the snow? I have some inappropriate shouldn't get saved. I don't think it's right. Fresh Prince. Oh, no.
01:17:23
That's not where my mind went. I was going around with something about slapping Chris Rock or something. That's where my mind went. Oh, man. Fresh Prince. I can dig it. That's a good one. This was fun. You guys want to do it again? I'm all for it. Good. Because we're going to, even if no one ever listens to this, we're just going to keep doing it. Yeah. I think it's a hit. I think it's a good time. Like I said, Beers and Bullshit. Ooh, that'd be a good name for a podcast. Yeah. Something tells me that's taken. Yeah. Yeah. Ours is better.
01:17:58
I mean, at the end of the day, I guess it's up to you guys to say. We're so cool, right? I think so. Yeah. Either way, I love the name. All right.
